The questionnaire will target 2,500 women resident in northern Norway. The research will try to resolve whether the decision to have surgery is just based on a simple desire to look better. " The goal is to find out if there are other factors behind the operation, such as psycho-social reasons, " psychiatrist and project supervisor Tore Sørlie at the University of Tromsø told NRK. Sørlie believes many women could have saved the trouble and cost of such plastic surgery. " Help from a psychologist could in many cases have done more good, " Sørlie told NRK.
