I was a couch potato that had to care for a new baby. I didn't work, which was a blessing because I napped often. I posted this earlier today, maybe you missed it: Hi Cherie, It does take a while to get started but I promise you he will get you pointed in the right direction. There were a couple of other women that used to be on this list that treated with him last year with great results, I wish they were still here to reassure you. Neither were local women and did all of their work with him via telephone and mail. My story is that I joined this list one year ago because I was about to be implanted. I had a surgery date set a few weeks away but a voice in the back of my head kept saying there was more to the story than " implants are safe " . I had been very sick in the past and wasn't willing to risk my health for more youthful breasts. Several years ago, I had fibromyalgia, liver congestion, terrible allergies, IB, chronic fatigue and IC. There are probably other things that I don't even remember any longer. I was taking handfuls of prescription drugs to function and literally felt like I was dying. I even had an HIV test, even though I had been married for many years and neither of us fit any of the HIV risk profiles. I just knew there had to be another way of getting it because I was so sick and nothing explained why. I had a year old baby and I knew I was dying. I was exhausted all of the time just caring for him. Thank God I didn't have a job at the same time. I had tons of lab work, like most of you here, just to hear that I was fine or see a shrink. I had a positive ANA test yet tested negative for lupus. MDs got me nowhere. I first treated with an ND who believed that one should gently supplement the body so it can function at his best and then get off the supplements so the body works on its own. Sounded like a good goal yet the program didn't work for me. I needed something more aggressive and a doctor who believed I had the ability to get well. Fortunately for me, she moved back to Oregon and I began treating with Dr. Leu who joined the office she worked at about a year after she did. He has worked miracles for me, literally. I went from being somewhat healthy some of the time to being vibrant and active all of the time. He is brilliant and has such insight into how the human body works. He has even been asked to work with Xymogen supplement company to be on their board of directors to assist in supplement compounding. He also does seminars, I believe the last one was for Xymogen and was regarding breast cancer. His specialties are in hormones and cancer. I just saw him today for a hormone panel and a Neuro-regulatory panel. My short-term memory has been pretty bad. I'm studying natural health and it has been pretty scary because I read things and don't retain them. I have also felt like I was zooming at the same time. I also have no sex drive whatsoever. He ordered the two labs which clearly showed the reason, I am extremely high in Serotonin because Serotonin isn't being properly utilized in its pathway. He adjusted one supplement and added an amino that is used in the Serotonin pathway. In a few days my memory should be great and sex drive returned! The sex drive issue is the same as those on anti-depressants. These are little things that we as patients get scared about and wonder what could be so terribly wrong that I have memory loss at age 45! It's a simple hormone problem that is easily corrected. MD's would prescribe some sort of drug instead of look to the cause. My female hormones are perfect for the first time in many moons. If you choose to treat with Dr. Leu, I don't think you'll be sorry that you did. One of the best things about him is that he loves a challenge. He was just telling me today how complicated I am --- and that he loves it! He doesn't run from a a challenge, he digs deeper into it to help his patient. He spends hours each day researching for all of his patients, yet we don't pay for this time. It's nice for me to have a doctor who enjoys my complicity instead of complaining about it, like everyone before him. Let me know if you have any other questions. Guest guest
Kenda - I'm glad you shared that. It is such a blessing you didn't get the implants, with your already weakened body, who knows. I am really encouraged by what you tell me about Dr. Leu. I think it's great that he cares that much and really wants to get his patients well. I didn't get the papers from him today. Maybe tomorrow. In the meantime, I made it another day without taking the prednisone in my cupboard. I did give in to an antihistamine today though. I think you're right, if the steroids get me feeling better temporarily, I really won't be able to express to Dr. Leu at the time of my appointment just how bad I feel. I just wonder what this inflammation is doing to my bones - at last CT scan, it wasn't too good, and it's much worse now. I can see the inflammation in my chest wall, and also I get this soft tissue swelling at the base of my neck. I'm so glad you are a success story, and can hardly wait to get there! How old is your baby now? Cherie --- In , Kenda Skaggs <skaggs@c...> wrote: > > > > Oh Kenda - thanks. It's just so hard - I do feel at my wits end, > > but I guess I can always dig deeper. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I'm glad you went another day without prednisone, each day is a good thing! You mention inflammation, I have a very inflammatory body naturally and take a natural anti-inflammatory twice a day. Inflammation in the body leads to so many problems and diseases. If he can get the inflammation down in your body, it can impact your total overall health, including your allergies. I'm anxious to hear what he does for you. I used to take allergy meds daily too but haven't taken any, not even herbal, for over 6 months. I'm still getting better all the time. My babies are now 16 and 13. Hard to believe, they're nearly adults now. Kenda > Kenda - I'm glad you shared that. It is such a blessing you didn't > get the implants, with your already weakened body, who knows. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, Sorry you're in so much pain, you are in my thoughts and prayers as always. I'm going to call Dr. Leu as well, I haven't heard back from the other doctor I mentioned, and I have the feeling that perhaps Dr. Leu might offer a little more personal care, which is what I need right now. I'm determined to get my life back, too. I'm getting alot of calls all of a sudden regarding job interviews, so I'm encouraged by that. I'm well enough to work, even though I have alot of fatigue, and perhaps working would take my mind off my sore joints. Today was the first day of school, but if I get a job offer I will take the job and then make a new plan as far as continuing my education goes. I'm thankful I had the implants out after six months, I'm sure I would have continued to get worse had I kept them in - it's just amazing how quickly they took me down. Guest guest
Sis, It is amazing to see many who had a problem with the implants right away, like yourself. I on the other hand has had them for 6 years and my problems really took me down in the past year. I wonder why it hits everyone different. How is your recovery coming along? I wonder if the age of the implants have anything to do with how fast someone gets better. auntsisnj <auntsisnj@...> wrote: Hi Cherie,Sorry you're in so much pain, you are in my thoughts and prayers as always. Guest guest
, My recovery is slow. I haven't done much as far as detoxing goes, either, so that might be another factor. I was hoping that I could just eat well and drink alot of water and get better, however I need help flushing the toxins out. I also think healing depends on a person's body, because I've seen people post on this site who were extremely sick and had implants for a few years and responded quickly to explant, some who had them a long time and didn't respond real quick, and others like myself who had them for a short while but took longer to get better. I had a weak immune system to begin with, so that might be why I got sick so quickly. Perhaps your body was fighting it for 6 years and when it could fight no longer, you started having symptoms. Also, I may have reacted to the chemicals that my implants were made from, whereas you may be reacting to bacteria or fungus that's built up in the implant. I wish we knew for sure what makes us sick from these things. I recall seeing in a post that there's sometimes a " honeymoon period " after explant, where you feel good only to have your symptoms come back after about 6 weeks. I think that's probably what happened with me. I don't have all the symptoms I had pre-explant, though. I also feel very happy with my body, I did not like having something foreign in my body at all. It's a relief to have them out. Sis > > >> > > >> > > >>> Oh Kenda - thanks. It's just so hard - I do feel at my wits > end, > > >>> but I guess I can always dig deeper. Guest guest
I hate to keep complaining, but I have heard some of you talk about pain in your arm??? The pain tonight is spreading down my arm and I feel some tingling in my hand. Kenda - you are right about the inflammation and damage. I have been taking fish oil, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I always get worse around dinner time for the rest of the evening. 16 and 13! you have been working at your health for a long time. It's a good thing to be still getting better as you get older, and not worse. Thanks everyone. Cherie > >> > >> > >>> Oh Kenda - thanks. Guest guest
Sis - It's probably a good thing it took you down so quickly, then you have no doubts as to what made you sick. That's great about the interviews, especially if you're feeling up to it. I'm so greatful that I work from my home office and can get up and stretch or rest when I need to. I'm not very busy right now, so I guess that's a blessing. Thank you for the prayers, this is so awful. It seems to be just dragging on with no let up. We have this big old house that we love to work on, and I just can't pitch in right now. It's a lot just to keep it semi clean. I hope your interviews go well. Guest guest
Cherie - overall I feel fatigued, and my joints hurt, and sometimes my lymph nodes are sore as well - but the pain and discomfort is not dibilitating. I am thankful I got sick right away and had no doubt as to what caused my body to go crazy, and that I got them out of there before I got sicker. I have peace of mind knowing the implants are gone, even though they left behind some bio-junk that is still causing problems. Like so many of us on this site, I have alot of determination, and when something bad happens I might go through a spell where I'm not functioning like I should, but then something kicks in and I get angry, and that anger seems to come out in positive ways - thankfully. That's why I'm searching for a job, because I think it'll almost make me feel normal again, to be holding down a job and bringing in money. Even if I don't feel great, I'm trying my best to be patient - and I feel so badly for the extreme pain you are in. I think sometimes our bodies have to get over the surgery, too. Surgery is traumatic to the body, especially when we're already sick. I'm waiting for spring, wake me up when winter is over. Sis > > > >> > > > >> > > > >>> Oh Kenda - thanks. Guest guest
Cherie - nighttime is the worst time for me as well, seems to start around dinnertime, too. I've been having tingling in my hand, generally when I wake up in the AM. It's different than the tingling that I had prior to explant, though. That tingling was more like a stinging/numb feeling and it was under my fingernails and toenails. I'm not sure if this latest tingling is because I fell right before Christmas and maybe pinched something in my neck, or if it's related to the implants. I often wonder if the joints in my neck are swelling, too. I'd like to have an MRI to see if I've got a pinched nerve or a herniated disk - but I wanted to ask if anyone knows any reason why I shouldn't have that test run. Guest guest
Hi Patty! I believe the testing that determined my body's natural inflammatory nature was genetic testing by Genomic, or something like that. The product I use for inflammation contains skullcap root extract, bee propolis extract, turmeric root extract and graminex G60 (pollen extract). I have been on this product for two or three years and it has helped tremendously. Inflammation can be very dangerous, causing all kinds of illness and disease. My husband was treated with the same product because of his high blood pressure, along with a BP tincture made by Dr. Leu. His BP was normal within a week! Kenda > Hi Kenda and Cherie, > I am so behind in posts! But Kenda, I had to ask you about your > naturally inflammatory body....how do you test for that? > > Also, I am sure have told us before, but what is the natural anti- > inflammatory that you take twice a day? > Patty > > >>>> >>>> >>>>> Oh Kenda - thanks. Guest guest
Cherie, Be sure to talk to Dr. Leu about your inflammation. I don't take fish oil at all because I eat fish but have taken the product I wrote Patty about for inflammation for a few years. It helps tremendously. Guest guest
I just bought a product that has bee propolis, royal jelly and pollen and something else in it. So that's good to know! There are several good natural anti-inflammatories out there. I have a renewed motivation to fight inflammation this year. My root canal is still burning, and I can only imagine what my body is doing on the inside. I think inflammation is a major problem for me still. And it is scary to think of what those long term effects are. I may end up just pulling this tooth anyway because it scares me too much to have had this inflammation going on for 9 months now! Thanks Kenda. I need to get tested. Patty > >>>> > >>>> > >>>>> Oh Kenda - thanks. It's just so hard - I do feel at my wits > > end, > >>>>> but I guess I can always dig deeper. Guest guest
Patty, before you have the tooth pulled, take the anti-inflammatory product for a few months. It took my root canalled tooth quite a while to calm down, even though I was taking the herbal anti-inflammatory. I had the root canal done 13 months ago and it has only been in the last few months that I have had absolutely no pain at all. Guest guest
Kenda, You are a real tooth- & -life-saver! ; ) I will take your advice and keep up with the anti-inflammatory I am taking. I will even step it up. Hopefully things will calm down, but waiting a whole year is going to be taxing on my patience! But, it's not like I haven't had to be patient for healing before...<sigh> Was your pain a throbbing, aching sort of pain, or a burning pain? My endodontist said he hears alot about throbbing pain, but rarely about burning pain. I have to wonder if it has anything to do with that broken off file that is embedded in the gutta perch in my root? It's the only wrench that was thrown in the works with this whole root canal thing. I would feel so much better if that metal wasn't in there. Thanks again Kenda! Patty > >>>>>> > >>>>>> > >>>>>>> Oh Kenda - thanks. Guest guest
Hi Patty! I'm glad to help save your tooth. My tooth was throbbing, no burning like you describe. I'd still give it some time to get the inflammation down and see how it feels then. My endo offered to redo the root canal while it was still symptomatic but my dentist said that he as a few patients who don't get better, even after a repeat root canal is performed. I decided to wait it out see what happened, unless the pain became intolerable. It is fine now. Guest guest
Patty thank you so much for thinking of me. I stopped taking the Prednisone on Wednesday, and by Saturday I had pain again. Right now it's not too bad, but I might be headed back there again. During my last rough time with pain, I knew that I should be writing my story, but I didn't do it. Over the last month, being pain free, I don't have the same passion to write it. But I know that there is a reason I went through all of this, and that God has a purpose for me. This sounds crazy, and maybe only another believer would understand, but I almost feel that I need my pain back so that I can journal my experience with passion. Don't get me wrong, I really want to get well. I just think that if God brings me back there, I have a job to do, and I accept that. I don't even know how to begin writing it, or who it is supposed to help, I just know that I have to do it. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I see Dr. Leu in an hour. Is it ok if I mention to him that you aren't feeling better? I have had a few neuroregulatory panels. My last one was several weeks ago but I wanted to rerun it again. Since doing so much detox work, I feel like my symptoms have changed, we'll see what's up. Are you taking Isocort for your adrenals? If you are still tired, I wonder if your adrenals are weakened. This was the case for me and Isocort really helped with the fatigue. Take care, Kenda > Kenda > thanks for asking - since being off the prednisone, my pain is > gradually coming back - still at a tolerable level - sleeping well - > actually I am more fatigued than I have ever been and feel like > sleeping all the time - very weird for me. Guest guest
Hey Cherie, I was in your neck of the woods this weekend, my husband and I went to a trade show at the Historic Naval Yards - very interesting. You are such a trooper, and I think you'll eventually find the formula that gets you well because of your determination. Guest guest
Hi Kenda and Sis yes I do take Isocort, but I had run out and went a few days without it. I just started back on it. Maybe that could have something to do with it. How did your appointment go today, Kenda? Sis - the naval yard isn't too far from here - maybe 15 miles, though I've never been there, I've seen it from the bridge. Wish we could have met, but your time was probably short. Did you get the results back from your labs yet? What's up with your new job? I'm sorry if I missed the most recent posts. Are you feeling any better? Guest guest
Hi Cherie, Yes, Isocort is extremely important to help your adrenals. Isocort is to the adrenal gland as Westhroid is to the thyroid gland. If you need it, your body will tell you when you don't take it. Weak adrenals can definitely cause exhaustion. My appointment went very well. He explained my neuroregulatory problems. I also had the hospital fax over my bone density results, along with my mammogram results. My GYN didn't see fit to call me with my bone density results -- I had the test done nearly a month ago. I have osteopenia and it needs to be treated. Dr. Leu has a special group of supplements he uses to build bones. It has the traditional things like calcium, magnesium and vitamin D but it has one other thing that is stronger but I can't remember what it is. He was thrilled when I told him we are buying an infrared sauna! Kenda > Hi Kenda and Sis > yes I do take Isocort, but I had run out and went a few days without > it. I just started back on it.
