Dearest Support Group ...

Welcome to several new members of our Support Group. There are two support requests below ...

1. Received some very sad news yesterday of the death of longtime Support Group Leader, Beth West's son, in an automobile crash.

The article is here:

http://www.newsreview.info/article/20060116/NEWS/60116014 & SearchID=73232842549228

Because of her own serious health concerns, Beth, like so many other wonderful support group leaders over the years, has not been active in our cause for a while. I have posted below a letter she had published in her local paper a few years.

Our heart goes out to Beth and her family over her enormous loss.

2. Here's some pretty twisted news. This is a huge new promotion (received several copies of their adverts today) ... a site advertising to give away 20 free sets of implants.

http://www.powerhomebiz.com/News/012006/implants.htm

www.BuyMyBreasts.com plans to cash in on the pixel ads phenomenon

My understanding had been that this type of promotion was not in accordance even with the PS Societies guidelines ... they appear to be going full tilt boogey at promoting this. Anyone who can come up with some counter "free implants" ideas ... please share.

3. News doesn't get much better ... I'm sorry to say.

I have got to admit ... I got a bit nauseated reading this. Singer is a San Diego Plastic Sturgeon who makes a fortune implanting women ... his ads are legendary ... as are his denials at the severity of the problems with implants.

The PS's are on a Media Rampage ... they just recently put up yet another website with their version of breast implant safety reality ... and on the very first page disinformed the public that they were "unbiased."

4. That new PS site is here with this quote and claiming to be 'unbiased."

Pregnancy and Breast Feeding

The presence of a breast implant will have no effect on your ability to become pregnant, deliver a baby, or even breastfeed. Breast implants have not been shown to have an effect on children or future offspring.

5. Support Requests:

Hi, I,m writing in regards to the support group. I'm not sure if I'm on the list or not but I would like to be if I'm not. My e-mail is Ktzy@...

I am very sick at the present time fatigue, joint pain, hair loss and my kidneys and lungs seem to be hurting all the time now. I had my implants removed in 1999 the Doctor said they were badly ruptured, blackened and gooey. I have not felt any better since removing them. So, I had a 2nd surgery in 8-2005 by Dr. Feng in Cleveland, Ohio she said there was silicone granulomes(sp) left in my body that she tried and remove all that could but she also said she could not remove what has already went through and is in my system. Do you know of anything that can help with removing any of the silicone and to help the other organs? My fingers are hurting and my feet are burning as of writing this letter. I just don't know what to do at this point. If you have any information I would deeply appreciate it.

Thank You

Kathy Ktzy@...

From: Jean0507@...

Good morning and thank you for your efforts on breast implants. I read your article via Dr. Mercola's web newsletter.

My story: I have had the same implants for 25 years. Now, I wish to rid myself of them, although I have no known disease or problem relating to the implants.

In high school, I was a natural 36C. After I married and became pregnant with our first child, my breasts grew naturally to a 44EE. After our third child, the doctors gave me a shot to dry up my milk, my breast deflated to a 34B. So you can understand I had lots of extra skin and it was not attractive.

My husband insisted I get implants. Reluctantly and foolishly, I did.

Now, at age 53, 40 pounds heavier and after 25 years of carrying these heavy breast implants around, my back is always sore when I lay down at night, I've decided to get rid or them or at least get a smaller implant. My new doctor tells me that it is my choice but that it will be a much bigger emotionally change to go from a now 40D to what my natural current size would be, a 34B. I really want to be a 36C but naturally so I asked my surgeon if she could take some of my own fat to inject in my natural extra skin. She said that she will not do this because the natural fat can change and clump.

I know there is a new implant out which is called cohesive gel implant. What do you know about these. I am teetering with the new smaller implant versus going all natural. My medical doctor advised me to go with a smaller implant for 10 years and then go to au natural. That she felt the transition would be easier and less to deal with socially. I am a very social person and very much in the lime light.

What is your opinion of the new implants and my choices.

Sincerely,

Jean0507@...

Can you believe there is still a debate about the safety of silicone breast implants? Do you have any idea how absurd this sounds to women like me? We live with broken immune systems. Our central nervous systems are out ofwhack. All because of the chemicals that escaped into our bodies from leaking, bleeding and ruptured implants.

Some women have not had a pain-free day for twenty years. How would you feel if you could not walk around your home without holding onto the walls? How would you feel if, like me, you had to hobble about with a cane?

How would you feel if something like early senility affected you? What if your son asked you, "Mom, how could you forget about my baseball game AGAIN?" How can you answer when you don't know yourself?

I wonder if some of the answers are contained in the medical records from dozens of settled lawsuits that are sealed and gagged. Much of the internal documentation of laboratory testing done by the silicone industry is also conveniently tucked away from public scrutiny. What helpful evidence might lie in those records? What shortcuts to a cure might be found?

Believe me, there is not a single woman who would want more out of those records than the truth. We could care less about trade secrets. What we do care about is our medical condition.

The truth about breast implants is that a large percentage rupture and leak, exposing the internal organs of women to silicone contamination. Implants, sold with a promise of a lifetime of satisfaction, are a faulty product.

Research to-date indicates that silicone may trigger a complex immune-system breakdown. The thousands of women suffering rheumatic and neurologic symptoms because of our implants want the full explanation of what has gone wrong with our bodies. A form of human experimentation was conducted on those of us who had implants, a total of more than one million women, and we deserve answers.

Sadly, time is running out for many of us poisoned by our implants. No one kept a registry of women who received implants, so now we may be forced to establish and track a body count. Last year a woman who had silicone breast implants died alone in her home. An autopsy was performed, and her death certificate told a rare truth. Her death was the result of silicone gel implants.

The College of American Pathology was approached for help in setting up avoluntary autopsy protocol to be used nationwide for women with breast implants. The college recommended we turn to the Food and Drug Administration, which has yet to respond. Instead women across the country are acquainting themselves with their local coroners and medical examiners to plan for their own autopsies.

Many of us are learning the definition of "autopsy pathology." We believe-- and hope -- that the answers are inside of us. If other women can be treated and saved, our deaths will not be in vain.
