Guest guest
Sis, your sister's friend sounds so much like my sister. My sister has had silicone implants for over 10 years, probably closer to 15 years now. She got hers the morning after Connie Chung was on TV saying that they were being taken off the market because of health problems. She thinks one breast is getting smaller, which would mean a leakage but she doesn't want to think about that because she wants a face lift now instead -- she's 42! She knows all about this list and why I chose not to implant myself but she thinks she is different somehow. You and your sister have done all you can. It's frustrating, isn't it. Guest guest
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the FDA would issue a warning to all past and prospective breast implant women? After fourty years of implant experience, one would think they would have all the information necessary by now! . . . Even if they would just study the women who have become sick to find out why! Think of how much pain, money and heartbreak would be saved! I guess the plastic surgeons and implant manufacturer's have more political clout than thousands of sick women! Guest guest
Yes, Rogene, and I wish that warning would include the dangers to the children, which the FDA and the manufacturer's want to pretend doesn't exist. You and I know better. I think it is criminal that there is no accountability for what has happened to some of the children born to women who had implants, and I don't blame the mothers AT ALL...I totally blame the FDA, the manufacturer's and the government for dropping the ball on this one BIG TIME. I have to admit that I am more concerned than ever about the children now, as my husband and I just learned that his daughter is pregnant. She has implants. It makes me sick to think that after all I have endured and have tried to do to warn women about the dangers of implants, that our own family will still possibly have to be dealing with the ugliness of this travesty. I swore that I would educate my children as much as I possibly could so they would understand the utter foolishness of it all and never make the same mistakes that I did. I have felt betrayed by his daughter over this, and now, to think that she is pregnant with implants too is a very bitter pill for me to swallow. I can only pray that everything will be alright! Guest guest
I wanted to add that I hope that those of you who have had children while implanted don't feel that I am being insensitive to you or causing you alarm about the health of your children. I know that this is a very, very emotional issue when the children become involved, and that many children seem to be just fine. At the same time, some children have suffered some significant health concerns, and I think this should not be ignored. I think the affects on their health and immune system are so subtle at times, or take so long to become evident that I think there are probably more reasons to be concerned than what the doctors and manufacturers would have us believe. I find it incredible that nobody has chosen to undertake a study of the children! Rogene, I am thankful that you have your SiliconeKids support group! I am very hopeful that this subject will get the appropriate attention it needs because the children have been ignored for way too long! Guest guest
It sure would be wonderful - because I think alot of people take stock in what the FDA and the medical community say - and unfortunately there are alot of people who don't take stock in what we say. However, at least we are here to help those who already have implants and are sick - and I know we've helped deter some people who were considering implants. So, we have done alot of good - even if we haven't reached the masses, we have reached those in need (including me). It really is ironic that they won't study the women who are sick - of course we know it's because they don't want to know why we got sick. That would cut into profits.
