Guest guest
Sorry, correction to my own post: I did not feel well the first day, but the boys' fevers didn't start until the morning of the second day. My youngest now has a temp of 104. We put a call into the doctor to see if he has any advice for us, but we haven't heard back yet. I am not overly concerned about the 104 temp yet considering he is doing amazingly well in spite of it. You would never know by the way he is acting except he seems very tired. I almost wonder whether we should do more vit A for him (he was deficient to start with). We'll see what the doc says. > > What did you all see on the two days of high dose vit A protocol? > Anything? Guest guest
Wow! That seems like a very high temp. Are you able to get him to cool down with cool washclothes, or some over-the-counter meds? My little boy descended into autism immediately after a fever of 104. --penumbra > > > > What did you all see on the two days of high dose vit A protocol? > > Anything? Guest guest
I'm sorry, I hope I didn't seem to come across as too casual with a high temp. Our ear thermometer never gives an exact reading with each read, so whenever I take a temp, I do it three times in the same ear and then get a best guess average. Honestly, I can get an almost exact reading by putting my lips to the forehead after taking temps for 17 years. LOL. Anyway, he was reading between 103.8 - 104.3, but was very comfortable and wanting to play (quiet play) and social. He always wants his blanket on when he goes to sleep, so I took his pajama pants off for bedtime and expected his temp to rise as he fell asleep. Sure enough, I went to check on him shortly after he went to sleep and he was reading between 104.3 and 104.9 so we immediately gave him some Motrin (hate to do it, but can't let the fever go too high) and took the blanket off. Within 15 minutes after taking the blanket off, he was back to reading the same as before he went to bed. The Motrin should kick in soon. We are still hoping the doctor will call us tonight. He is our new DAN and this is the first time we have ever had to call after hours. He will sleep in bed with us tonight. I know it sounds weird because it is a high temp, but I have a lot of peace about it. I am praying that his body is dealing with something that has been there all along. Maybe he is finally at a place where he can kick it for good. I'll keep you all informed. Do you know what virus or infection your son had when he had that high fever that caused regression? PS: Thanks for honoring my request, Penumbra. You didn't email me back, but I noticed you took care of it. Thank you. > > Wow! That seems like a very high temp. Guest guest
Our son had roseolla and a fever of 104 for 3 days. At the end of the 3rd day he pointed and waved for the first time ever and was a lot more social and lucid. We see our roseolla period as a turning point for our son in getting out of autism. Seems the high fever kicked up those killer T cells and pounded some chronic infections. He is still up and down but has never fallen behind as much as he was prior to roseolla. > > > > Wow!
