Guest guest
After reading this blog, I was about ready to scream! We have been on the SCD for 3 months. My son is doing really well on this diet! Don't even care that I spend all my time in the kitchen just so happy something is working. I read breaking the v. Cycle and bought the 2 cookbooks. My son has many severe food allergies so we can't do many of the foods (nuts, eggs and some berries among a few). But it never dawned on me about the yeast and the fruit would be an issue. Anyone writing an SCD and autism book?!?!? I have been on the pecanbread website but must have missed the boat big time. My major question is, " what about the honey? " we are using it to get the valtrex and dyflucan down. Should I be slapping myself now!!!! Help!!! Sent from my iPhone
Guest guest
I like many things about SCD, but found for my son Body Ecology Diet to be better balanced and address fungal issues. We would not have been able to have honey, fruit, and nuts, and high amts of animal protein as with SCD. Autism is different for every child, so this is where your Mommy gut instinct has to kick in. I really studied many diets and at different stages of healing we tweak things. Lately I've been using many SCD recipes. I think they are so creative and at least are made from scratch. For deep healing for my son our day looked something like this: Green Smoothie: cucumber, parsely, zuchini, romaine, green apple, ginger JUICED Blend: avacado, spirulina, chorella, raw hemp with e3live Soaked quinoa lightly sauteed with " kale, onions, ghee Handful of soaked almonds shot young coconut kefir turkey hot dog w 1/2 cup cultured vegetables, lightly steamed vegetable with ghee/celtic salt green apple w/ shot of yck Homemade chicken soup loaded with vegetables topped with raw yolk cvs So lots of vegetables, 20% protein or grains with meal. Grains are seed grains and alway soaked. Lots of good fats, minerals, fermented foods. We did this strictly for about 18 months, then added some baked goods made from soaked whole grains, and a bit more fruit but still on empty for another year. Today we have more flexibility and my son's stools have normalized. Our day is still full of fats, fermented, vegetables, and green smoothies. However he can also have more variety. It's a bumpy road, but as time goes on you'll find what your child needs and it comes together. I'm still a slave in my kitchen, but it's all worth it. As you said, I've always been so thankful for the information while my son was so young. I work like a dog with pride and thankfulness. > > After reading this blog, I was about ready to scream!
