Guest guest
I once read about a guy who couldn't get his book published by anyone after submitting it to a bunch of publishing companies. So, after all that rejection, he decided to go ahead and start his own website and publish a small portion of the book on the internet, then offer the reader the option to buy the rest of the book online for a small fee. Guess what? He made a ton of money! And he didn't have to give up a portion to any middleman for printing costs! I'd say that was vindication. And proof that he was a good writer. Just something to think about! Patty > > > > Lana has been getting an enormous amount of attention > > with ebay (go to www.ebay.com and search for " OMG I > > found weapons " ). . . Guest guest
If it's the guy I'm thinking about, he's been intrumental in setting up " support " groups for self-publishers . . . There is a lot of help available by doing a websearch for terms like " self-publishing help " etc. He was on NPR some time ago describing how he did it. Guest guest
I have an idea, A lot of organizations sell calendars to support their cause. We could make one and sell it on ebay to pay for the book. What if we featured 12 ladies of varying illnesses caused by their implants. We could have them get their picture taken in front of a significant buiding or "trade mark" to their city. Showing the viewer that implant illness can be affected by anyone... anywhere. We can emphasize their beauty as an explanted woman. With the right photographers we could make a calender that is beautiful, professional, and sends a message. I would be willing to work with another on this project. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard. With small upfront cost, which we might be able to find sponsors for. Especially if we use the picture as an advertisement for a business, (such as a coffe shop) in each of the cities the featured lady lives in. We use vonage intenet phone service so calling withing the US is free for me. I can do a lot of calling for a project. Guest guest
Thanks Sis, I am sure we could find a reputable photographer in each city. Guest guest
I think what would sell better are pictures of our bare breasts scars and all. I had thought about this already but didn't have time to devote to it right now. But imagine a calendar of topless women who all have scars to show for their suffering. Guest guest
I am not so sure about that idea. I don't want to capitalize on 'the shock value ' of my ordeal. I want to help unimplanted and explanted women alike with stories of health and healing, both physical and emotional. A way to spread the word and glorify the beauty of the "natural woman". As women we all struggle with our body image, I want to help women and girls know that there other risks involved with implants, some are emotional and spiritual. No matter what our poor choices are, we can heal our thoughts and emotions and become women who appreciate ourselves and our talents and that is what makes us beautiful. If we don't address these issues with women, seeking to implant, than we don't do them any justice by showing them the physical risks. I don't want to leave women feeling more helpless thinking they have a "no-win" situation by choosing not to get the implants. Just my opinion, I do understand that things have to be "shocking" in order to get attention these days, but I am all for moving on and going forward.auntsisnj <auntsisnj@...> wrote: You know, that crossed my mind as well. Guest guest
Something that I'm wondering about . . . Would the intention of the book be to inform women, or to make money? Knowing the purpose of the book would go a long way to determining, not only the content, but how/where to market it. I wholeheartedly agree that the book must offer solutions, not just a shock. . . In particular, I'm concerned about the mothers when they learn that their implants may have affected their children. The initial horror, shock, guilt is enormous! . . . Not to mention the daily living with a child who may be suffering on an ongoing basis. I suspect than less than 1% of the mothers of affected children have made the connection. When I started 's SiliconeKids group last year, I thought had basic knowledge of the problems the children face. I've since learned the problems are far worse than women will discuss publically. We can't find knowledgable doctors . . . and the children don't apprear to respond as well to detoxing. I suspect that's because their little immune systems were hit so early. We are getting a few clues though! Hugs, Rogene

Guest guest
A friend of mine who is a breast cancer survivor said that a woman she knows (a photographer) was taking very beautiful pictures of women after breast cancer, showing their scars, but they were tasteful - not anything that would make someone upset, they kind of showed the spirit of the women. , since the calendars were your idea, I'll honor however you'd like to handle it. Also, who says there can't be more than one calendar? We could run with 's idea, but could do a calendar as well if she wants. Guest guest
You can ignore my idea because I was never implanted, but to me, if you are going to do tasteful breast photos, the photos must include the face of the woman, as well as her breasts. Like the friend of your friend, the photos would show the spirit of the woman, not just boobs. You could each be doing something you are passionate about -- Rogene could be at her potter's wheel. This way, you are showing that all different types of women had implants and are doing well after explantation. If you simply show explanted breasts, I'm afraid it would come across as shock value. Guest guest
You all have such great ideas. Maybe if there is money to be made, we could start a fund to help women with explant surgery?? Has anyone considered maybe putting a brochure/pamphlet together that would include risks, maybe a picture or two of explanted women and a testimony, a personal story of their sick children, etc. I don't know how we would distribute it, but just a thought. It would have to be just for saline implants, because I think that's where women (and doctors) are duped into thinking they are safe. Guest guest
Lynda What I mean by a no-win situation is that some will feel like they have no answer to their problem if they choose to not get implants. When I got mine, I was using them to fill a need. This need had no other option (so I thought) at the time of implantation. I needed to heal my poor body image, not fill it up with silicone. Guest guest
Yes, that is often the case, it is usually a psychological need. Many women have poor body image for many reasons. Guest guest
The brain-storming in this group is awesome!! I am glad to see you are a bunch of women who are not comfortable with sitting around and complaining about themselves being victims. You ladies are AWESOME! Lamse <wannabe_proverbs31@...> wrote: Lynda What I mean by a no-win situation is that some will feel like they have no answer to their problem if they choose to not get implants. When I got mine, I was using them to fill a need. This need had no other option (so I thought) at the time of implantation. I needed to heal my poor body image, not fill it up with silicone. Guest guest
I never thought the bare breasts would be for shock value. The idea came to me as a way to display the beauty of the breasts even with the scars. My breasts look amazing even though they have scars, and I wear the scars as badges of courage for what I have been through. With the right photographer and the correct poses, this would be amazingly artistic.
Guest guest
Kenda, I have been a nude model for many years and I have no problem showing myself, face and all. But most women are afraid to sohw themselves. that is the only reason I suggested that the faces would not have to be shown. > >>>> Lana has been getting an enormous amount of > >>> attention > >>>> with ebay (go to www.ebay.com and search for " OMG > >>> I > >>>> found weapons " ). . . Guest guest
Yes, unfortunately we are taught to not be happy with ourselves. This is one of the main focuses of my dance company... to teach women how to feel good about themselves and their bodies. I have had amazing results so far with what I am doing. The women, some of them in their late 60's even, coming to me and telling me how my classes have changed their relationships because they are able to feel good about themselves for the first time. That is what makes it all worthwhile. > > > > > Lana has been getting an enormous amount of attention > > > > > with ebay (go to www.ebay.com and search for " OMG I > > > > > found weapons " ). . .
