Guest guest
Hi Liz, I would research information by using links on this site and also search engines on the web. My health is a nightmare too. I have had my implants for 5 years. I have found much support from this group. I am sure you will too. Hang in there and big hugs to you!! Guest guest
Hi Liz, You don't know how sad it makes me to read your story....because it sounds just like mine, and those were dark days for me. I hate remembering the confusion, the fear, and the uncertainty I felt at what was going on with my body in that short year after I got implants. It was a nightmare that happened so fast my head was spinning. What's worse is when doctors tell you that your tests are normal and they don't know what is wrong with you, but " it's not the implants! " Oh, how frustrated I get when I hear those words! Because the truth is that it most likely IS your implants! There have simply been too many of us who have gotten ill too fast, or with too many of the same symptoms for it not to be our implants. We just have too many things in common, too many sad stories to share of health destroyed, careers in a freefall, marriages on the rocks, kids not able to have the nuturing care of their mothers who are struggling to take care of their own needs let alone those of their families....it is one of the saddest travesties of modern times that women are paying such a high price for implants, and the medical professionals are in complete denial of this illness that has been controversial for decades. So, I want you to know you are definitely not alone. We've all been there and have struggled to get through the next day with this illness. And many of us have gone on to renewed health by taking the right steps. Your next step should be searching for a good explanting surgeon. You need to find someone who can remove the implants and the scar tissue, and who will understand your need for a proper explant. Most plastic surgeons do not like to do explants, so you will face resistance with this. That is why it takes a bit more effort to find a good explanting surgeon. But we can help with that....we know a few who do a great job. Just let us know where you are, or you can access the recommended doctor list on this website or on explantation.com We wish you the best...keep asking questions....you will get on the right path back to better health soon! Guest guest
- Hi Liz I am sorry to hear that you are sick but I am glad that you found this site. We have women coming here all the time with your same story. Perfectly healthy until a few months after implant. It sounds like your body is really reacting to the implant and I would advise that you get them out as soon as possible. We recommend that you go to a plastic surgeon who will take them out including the entire capsule that your body formed around the implant. This is called a total capsulectomy. This will give you the best chance to recover as sometimes debri from the implant or imflammation is contained in the capsule. We keep a list of doctors on file who we know to take out implants properly and who also beleive in implant illness. Just this morning our own Kacey was on Naomi Judd's morning show talking about her implant experience. Kacey got implants at nineteen and got very sick fairly quickly. She developed RA among other things. She now goes around the country trying to get the word out to young women. After explanting, most women will also need to detoxify their bodies and change their nutrition to optimize their chances of recovery. Many women find they have a problem with various pathogens-- especially candida--since the implants tend to compromise their immune system. The majority of women will experience major health improvements some time after explant. Some women experience major improvements immediately, and for some women it can take longer. It just varies so much. This group is committed to supporting all women who come here for information, advice and support. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. Guest guest
Hi Liz, I got sick very quickly from the implants. I had mine in only six months, and had them taken out. I feel so much better then I did. When I got sick I was experiencing severe muscle pains and woke up one morning and could not walk. All of the tests and doctors in the world could not find anything wrong with me. I was severly depressed, felt suicidal and lost 22 pounds. I also could not eat anything without being sick. I am so thankful that I found this group + they gave me hope, strength and courage to fight back against the plactic surgeon, and also to have them removed. Guest guest
- Liz Please don't be scared to death. You can get those implants out and stand a very good chance of getting better! Under the files section you will find a list of doctors that we maintain. Where do you live? Many women have travelled outside their state to go to a ps that believes that implants cause illness. I, myself, live in in illiniois and travelled to ohio to have surgery with Dr. Feng because she had done alot of explants and believes that they make women sick. Most ps's don't want to admit or don't believe that implants can cause illness and will try to convince you otherwise. In fact, many of us have been told countless times that our implants couldn't be the cause of our problems--and most likely it is stress. In fact, doctors in general know very little about autoimmune disease and its causes. So most doctors don't even take your symptoms seriously unless they can get some positive blood test results and even then they don't know how you got sick or what to do about it other than to give you painkillers and immune suppressants. Most of us on this site have not only gotten an explant but done some form of detoxification to the body because there is alot of evidence that as our bodies become toxic we become more ill with autoimmune symptoms. I can really understand and sympathize with your depression. Not only does your situation cause depression, but so does illness itself. Anything that affects your immune system is going to affect your brain as well--that includes all of your neurotransmitters which affects mood, etc. In fact most people who struggle with candida (and most women sick with implants have candida issues whether they know it or not) struggle with depression and irritability which is a common symptom of candida overgrowth in the body. Please don't beat yourself up with your decision to get the implants. Like you said, there was little reason to believe that you would get ill from implants. I am sure most of the media and doctors make it sound as if they are perfectly safe and only a rare few would get sick --if any. The truth is that many women get ill and we don't even really know how many. Many women don't even realize that their symptoms are connected to implants, and many women who currently have implants are not yet sick. I had mine for eleven years before I got terribly sick in a period of weeks. Before that I just thought it was the fibromyalgia I had been diagnosed with five years before I got implants. It does seem that we are seeing more and more women who get implants and get sick within months or a couple of years of implantation. In fact some women virtually feel ill from the moment they get the implants. They are obviously reacting to the silicone shell or to some metal used in the shell. Some implant shells contain platinum. Other people get sick because the valves are defective and allow for contamination back and forth between the body and the implant. Some implants when removed are found to be contaminated with molds, fungi, and bacteria. Some have even been black. Recently one woman was explanted and her implants were found to be filled with yellowish liquid. No one knows for sure why some women react to silicone and others dont. Therefore there is no way to know who will react to implants and who won't. The good news is that most women who get explanted get better and usually the cosmetic result is pretty good too. We have pictures of some of our explanted ladies on the shutterfly site. Since you have had yours such a short time, you should get a good result with explant I would think. What symptoms are you experiencing? Are they similar to the ones listed on our home page? TAke care. Guest guest
Hi Liz, Sounds like the same thing that happened to me - I had my implants removed after six months. My health went down the tubes as well, within a few weeks of having implant surgery. First my lymph nodes swelled up, then my joints swelled up, and it seemed like every few weeks a new symptom would arrive - such as high blood pressure when it was always low. I had my explant on Nov. 7th and am relieved to have the implants out of my body. This has been my worst nightmare, so I fully understand what you're saying. Guest guest
Liz, It's good to hear from you again and to know you are getting better! . . . As you probably know, sometimes it takes a while to feel 100% . . . maybe you'll never read 100%. But as you know, you can feel much better! Guest guest
Welcome Liz, You're in the right place. . . You can relax a bit while you figure out the next step. Most women find they feel better as they begin to understand they really are physically (not mentally) sick . . . and as they realize life will be good again! You don't need to worry about collecting diagnoses! . .. . It really doesn't matter. . . Once you get your implants out, and (probably) do some detoxing, your symptoms should start fading away! . . . Check our archives. . . If there's anything we can help you with, let us know. We're here to help! We understand because we've been there! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
