Guest guest
PANDAS is bacterial and not viral, but yes i would recommend if you see a kid suddenly spiral to have them checked. testing has to be timed to get an answer of weither your child is a PANDAS kid, if your child has had strep the big question to ask is have you seen a SUDDEN regression around that time.....OR does your child have OCD issues that come and go or if you try something like OLE are you seeing gains in the OCD department, if so I would be worth checking on durring a regression period. antibodies spike 6-8 weeks after onset Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 PANDAS I don't know much about PANDAS. I just did some reading about it and I am wondering if every parent who has a child with autism should check for PANDAS. My son has had strep in the past. Can't recall of anything recent. You can still have a viral child without it being PANDAS? I have noticed that my son has had episodes of hives while batteling a virus. We just had one about 2 months ago. Going to try ole soon. We have an appt. with DAN! on the 17th. Going to ask her about viral titers (PANDAS). Guest guest
Every chils with autism should have their ASO titer checked with any major lab to check for PANDAS. In addition, most labs can run titers on all of the major viruses like herpes, MMR, HHV6, Epstein Barr etc. If you find any high levels it gives you something to work on. Many kids have very high measle titers and HHV6. Many also have high ASO titers which causes a lot of the OCD behaviors. Guest guest
just cause it comes back negitive though doesn't mean that he or she DOESN"T have strep issue or PANDAS as the TIMING of the test being in line with a flare is esenital to a real answer. you could get lucky though and find something. so in that respect it doesn't hurt Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 PANDASTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Thursday, December 11, 2008, 11:50 AM I don't know much about PANDAS.
