We just started melatonin..... From what I have read, it is actually

good for them.... not a drug, but a hormone and antioxidant too.

For us,,,, so far,,,, it takes a few hours before it kicks in.

is 7 years old and has autism. He was very scared last time we were

on a plane so we were looking for a sleep medication to help him

sleep through the flight. After consulting our doctor we've tried a

couple of different doses of Ativan but this doesn't seem to work for

him.

Our doctor gave us 25mg or serequel and my son sleeps like a charm. When he has been up for days or has to go on a plan that's what she gives us. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to put him to sleep. Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Hello,

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season so far. My husband, son, and, I are moving out to the Bay area later this week. My son is 7 years old and has autism. He was very scared last time we were on a plane so we were looking for a sleep medication to help him sleep through the flight. After consulting our doctor we've tried a couple of different doses of Ativan but this doesn't seem to work for him.

Does anyone have any suggestions for sleep medication that have worked for you? Ideally we'd like to give this to him at the airport prior to boarding so he is asleep just after we get on board the plane. We have a call scheduled with our doctor tomorrow afternoon and any suggestions you have are appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks a lot to everyone who responded. We will try out melatonin tonight and

hopefully everything goes well on the flight this week.
