Guest guest
Hi, My name is Lynn and I just came upon your group from the implantsout website. I just found it by accident and when I saw all the symptoms she had I saw myself and felt relief and scared and mad all at once. I have been sick for almost a year now and never thought of my implants because they were supposed to be safe. Does anyone know a dr in NY or NJ that can help me get tested for silicone poisoning? For removal of the implants? What is it like once they are removed? Do you look at all normal anymore? I'm sorry for asking so many questions I just can't believe that I'm not imagning it all and there is a real answer. Thank you in advance for your help. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I'm glad you found this site, and sorry that you've been sick. I got implants in May of 2005 and got sick immediately, and had them out in November of 2005. I don't have knowledge of getting tested for silicone poisoning, although I believe others on this site might have information on that. One thing I can respond to, though, is what I look like after removal. I look really good. I started out a 34A, and implants brought me to a 34C, and now I'm back to a 34A again, but I'm so happy with my natural shape. My breasts look alot like they looked before implant, and I do have fine scars in the crease but they are fading and probably in a year's time I'll barely be able to see them. Immediately after explant, the muscles were indented, but they fluff up in time and the tissues redistribute. I live in NJ but decided to go to Ohio for my explant, to Dr. Feng. The reason why I did that was because I wanted a doctor who believed I was sick from the implants, and I wanted someone to remove the implants " en bloc " , who would remove the capsules as well. It's taking me some time to recover from the illness, but I am so relieved to have those horrible bags out of my body. Guest guest
Hi Lynn Welcome to saline support. I found this group like you did. I had my implants for 8 1/2 years and didn't know I was sick from them because all the doctors kept saying that it wasn't the cause. When I found this group of women with all of my symptoms, I knew deep down that they were making me sick. I was explanted in October, and although I am not better yet, I have hope of recovery. I know the implants gave me the breasts I thought I wanted, but to have them out is so liberating! They aren't real pretty right now, but it's only been a few months, and I am focusing on getting well. I have come to realize that we are beautiful for who we are anyway, and not what our breast size is. I was just getting sicker and sicker, and I could hardly be a mom anymore. It was just not worth the worry about how I would look, though I TOTALLY understand that concern. What are your symptoms? My main complaint is chronic inflammation and arthritis in my sternum and clavicles (though I could go on and on). There are many women here who can help you, and you are not alone. I live near Philadelphia and my implanting surgeon took them out, though I know that's not the usual scenario. Sis lives in New Jersey, but I'm sure she will tell you that she traveled to have them removed. You are not in this alone anymore, and I hope you find the women here supportive in your time of need!! Guest guest
Hi Cherie, My symptoms are long and started around 1/05. I got my implants in 2/02. I had three surgeries because I had a problem with one within a few months. My symptoms started slow with shooting pains down my right arm once in awhile than it went to all the time, than my left arm and right foot and than they started going numb. Soon after the brain fog, feeling confused, unable to concentrate, feeling like I had the flu all the time, chronic bladder and yeast infections, severe neck and ear pain, depression, irritability, hpv that was getting better, my pap tests were coming back normal than when all the other symptoms started it came back again, and than one of the scariest things my hair just starting falling out like crazy, muscle twitches started coming every day and all my tests said I was fine. They only thing they have come up with is that I have a little arthritis in my neck, my thyroid level changes slightly but nothing significant to them, they said I have nerve damage in both hands but attribute it to carpal tunnel. They are still testing although I think I need to look anymore. Do you think it sounds like my implants? I have to tell you since I found the site last night I have been going through periods of crying and laughing because I'm so mad but so happy at the same time that there might be a reason for what has been happening to me. I have never been so scared in my life I even thought I might have aids and went through a horrible week waiting for the test results to come back. I really didn't think there was a way I could have it but couldn't understand what else could be wrong with me. I just kept thinking I have some horrible illness and who is going to take care of my kids. Anyway thank yo so much for all your replies. It means so much to me. I've already emailed Dr.Kolb. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I am so glad that you found implantsout.com and then our support group! Now you can feel surrounded by friends who know what you are going through, because we have already been there and know the difficulties you face. I remember all those feelings I had when I was where you are now....all the fear, the feeling of being out of control of my life for the first time ever, of being so angry at the thought that I was lied to by my plastic surgeon, the uncertainty of whether or not I had a serious disease that would forever alter our family life, and on and on. It was awful. But we can help you through all these things. I have my life back after explant and healing, so I know that there is a good possibility that you can too. As for the doctors in NY or NJ, we have very few that are scattered around the country that are really, really knowledgeable about silicone illness or implant related diseases. The very best on your coast would be Dr. Feng in Ohio, or Dr. Kolb in Atlanta. These two doctors are ones we can count on to take excellent care of their patients needing explant. From there, the search takes on a little more effort, as not all doctors are reliable....some seem to be a bit wishy washy on whether or not implants cause disease, some cannot be counted on to remove all the scar tissue (a total capsulectomy), or perform an en bloc removal or use drains....all necessary for the best outcome for your health. So, you can look at the list of doctors for NY or NJ and see what they say, knowing that you are going to have to be almost as knowledgeable as they are about what you want. I wish it were different, but that is the way things are in the implant business today. There is a huge amount of denial about what we are going through. You can get tested for silicone poisoning, but it is a rarely used test. It's validity has been called into question (and of course, those calling it into question are the very ones who have a stake in making sure implants stay on the market). So, it may not be considered valid. Most women on our group have had to make decisions to explant based on their intuition about what has happened to their health since getting implants. It would be really nice if we had tests that proved it was the implants making us sick....then there would be no controversy! We could go to court and win! Ahhh, only in a perfect world.... You don't have to be too concerned about what you will look like after the implants come out. Most women look great! You will have scars, of course, but for the most part, your shape should go back to what it was before, and if you have a lift if you were saggy, you can look even better than before. I have to say that I am very impressed with the pictures of all the women who have been through explant that I've seen. If a doctor tells you that you will be deformed and look bad and be depressed about your looks, consider that to be his own evaluation of his skills to do it and run out of his office as fast as you can! (Rogene, that makes me laugh every time!) Lynn, you've found the answers you needed....and it was no accident. You can now begin your journey back to health and have hope for a better future-- minus the implants. Let us know how we can help you more. We will be here for you. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, My feet and hands went numb, too - and one of my earliest symptoms was shooting pains down my arm, then in time it moved to other parts of my body, like my legs. Joint pain, sudden high blood pressure, fatigue, brain fog, headaches, depression, anxiety - I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting, but it's been such an awful experience. I can relate to the HPV because I've got HSV (a nice little calling card I was left with after a date rape 20 years ago) and it was completely under control before I got the implants, and afterwards it came back with a vengeance. I take medication for it, but it's not working like it did before. I'm hoping as my immune system gets stronger, that I can get that back to where it was before I got the implants. It's hard for me to discuss this, but I know I am among friends here - heck, my own family doesn't know about this - but I find a compassion here that I've never found anywhere else. Here's something I'm noticing since explant - the hair under my armpits is not growing. It was still growing with implants, but after explant it's barely grown. Hair on my legs and head is still growing, so it must be localized due to the surgeries or the implants. Possibly because after implants, my armpits were like two tunnels instead of flat, and after explant they went back to being flat, so perhaps there was some trauma in that area (or it could be from implant junk that settled in that area, who knows). I just went for an MRI this morning. With the joint swelling, I was noticing some pain in my neck, and then a few days before Christmas I fell, and ever since then I'm waking up in the AM with numb fingers. I don't know if it's a combination of joint swelling from the implants, which was further aggravated by the fall I took, or what. I'm going to request physical therapy, and then once my neck is strong I'd like to start a mild exercise program to help strengthen my immune system and muscles. I believe I fell (twice in four months) because my muscles are weak due to this illness. Sis > > > > > > Hi, My name is Lynn and I just came upon your group from the > > > implantsout website. Guest guest
Sis, This numbness and weakness is classic for implant associated diseases. I remember how weak my wrists were after implants. It was crazy! I couldn't even hold a frying pan straight anymore, or any cooking pan for that matter---my wrists just couldn't bear the weight of them and I couldn't figure out what was going on! And then I had all that other stuff too. The tingling, the muscle twitching, the pins and needles feeling all the time. There is definitely something neurological going on related to the silicone in our body. Sis, that is sad about your HSV coming back after implants. It just shows how much the implants affect our immune system, because those viruses are opportunistic! They will flare given the chance, and your implants did just that...knocked your immune system out just enough to let that nasty virus rear its ugly head again. I surely hope that you will be strong again soon and that you will be able to get that under control and not experience those flares. I know you are not the only one to have experienced that. One other thing that I had that has gone away is that terrible pain in the neck--it used to hurt so bad that even turning over in bed and flipping on my pillow felt nearly impossible. I felt like I had to lift my head off the pillow with my own hands to give it some support while I turned. It was very painful. Since I rarely went to doctors I never knew what it was, but I have no doubt that it was some type of arthritis in my neck. I did have an abnormal DEXAscan, which showed osteopenia in my spine--and the weirdest thing of all was that is showed my spinal density getting worse the closer it got to my breast area! I believe the implants affected my bone density, my muscle strength, affected me neurologically, and of course, ruined my immune system with the autoimmune markers I had. I had my implants only 9 months, a very short time like you Sis. I got better, but I still have to work on muscle strength. It may be my age (46), but I am alot weaker than I used to be. I used to be very strong. Patty > > > > > > > > Hi, My name is Lynn and I just came upon your group from the > > > > implantsout website. Guest guest
Hi Sis, It is scary how these viruses just take over when your immune system is over loaded. I apprecite you telling me about your situation. They are hard things to talk about but it does make you feel so much better when you find a place to do it and don't feel bad about it or like your dirty somehow. The hair thing is strange I'm just hoping the hair on my head grows back. I mean I'm only 38 years old I don't want to be bald. I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from Dr.Kolb and Dr. Feng. I just can't wait to get the process underway. I just want them out so my body can start to heal. I was never a moody person before and want so much to feel happy again. All of the replies have really touched my heart and I think it's the first time I have smiled in a long time. Thank you for all your support I can't express enough how the last few hours have impacted my life. Thank you, Lynn > > > > > > > > Hi, My name is Lynn and I just came upon your group from the > > > > implantsout website. Guest guest
Hi Lynn I am so glad that you found our group. This is such a great group of women and there is so much advice and support offered on this site! I sure can identify with how you felt when you found this site--a mixture of anger and happiness. I believe this site saved my life and there are many other women who feel that way. There really isn't a test that will show what you are looking for. We have found that generally doctors will not admit that implants are the cause of your symptoms. In fact, they generally will not admit you are even sick. Most tests will come out normal despite feeling very ill, and they like to tell you it is stress related and even that you should see a therapist. I felt like I was dying and they sent me to a psychiatrist. She wanted to put me on some heavyduty drugs because I was so depressed. I told her I was sick. I never went back. Then I went to a doctor who thought I had lyme disease. Finally I found this site and I know God guided me. I had been praying and praying to find some help. I have had my implants out four years now and am so much better. Before explant I had to quit my job, my heart was messed up, I had continual dizziness and brain fog and severe pain, etc. The majority of women who get explanted will find they get signficantly better--especially if they also make efforts to get the toxins eliminated from their bodies. You can get better! Hugs, Kathy --- In , " unicorn0692 " <unicorn0692@...> wrote: > > Hi, My name is Lynn and I just came upon your group from the > implantsout website.
