I used to live in Florida, not near the beach, but up in the palmetto scrub. We drank well water and it did not agree with me and my son. This is when I first started seeing these " flecks " , they would be present when we had diarrhea from drinking the water. They went away after we moved back home, but after I started taking iodine, (I'm not taking valtrex) they have come back, except with the difference that it makes me feel better instead of sick like in Florida. I hope that makes sense.Anyway I wondered if you knew how your daughter was feeling when this happened to her. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2008 Report Share Posted December 17, 2008 hmmm.. i'm not sure to be honest. my daughter is completely non verbal so we have to go by behaviors etc. i am going by things that i've read that the black flecks are a good sign that something is being " cleared " from her system. apparently, no one truly knows what the flecks really are - it's speculation it seems at this point. i think it's interesting that we see the flecks only when increasing valtrex or a yeast treatment of some sort. good luck.
