Guest guest
Good luck Toni. The surgery you are having is less invasive than the one Tess had, correct? Noreen [ ] Surgery Date Hello all, Today I finally got the call I have been waiting for. I am going for my weight loss surgery on May 10th. I am Very excited. I have so much to do to get ready. Guest guest
Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my explant. I am scheduled to have it on March 1st. I am nervous, but really excited to get these nasty things out! And get them out right!!! It working out good. My husband will be getting home from SERE training hopefully by Sunday Feb 26th. We are going to drive to Ohio I need to be there by the 28th for my pre-surgical appointment. Hugs MK
Guest guest
MK, Congratulations, and best wishes on your surgery. I went to Dr. Feng and I know I was in extremely good hands. Her staff is incredible, too. One thing that amazed me, after I woke up I was nauseus, and one of her nurses applied pressure to one of my ankles a couple of times, and the nausea went away. I'm a little over 3 months post op, and things look really good. She placed the incisions in just the right place, so that they aren't very noticable, and of course they're fading. I'm thankful to have my natural shape back, and I look alot like I looked before. There are some really nice places to stay near Dr. Feng's office, I stayed in Beachwood at the Hampton. I'll be thinking of you on March 1st. Sis -- In , " mkkinzy1 " <mkkinzy@...> wrote: > > Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my explant. I am > scheduled to have it on March 1st. Guest guest
I am so excited for you. It is great that your husband will be there with you. Randy and I stayed at the Homestead Extended Stay Suites. It was a great place, only 5 min. from Dr. Fengs office. Which made it great for the day of surgery because we had to be there for surgery at 5:30 am. Also, it was very close to two health food grocery stores. (Wild Oats and Trader Jo's). It had a nice kitchenette with a microwave, stove, and refrigerator. It is on the list of places Dr. Feng's office will send you. Expect to stay 4-6 days after surgery. Remember when driving to Ohio, that I think there is a 1 hour difference in time from you. So you will loose an hour of driving. Also, if there is anythng you need from me....I am only a 6 hour drive away. If you need someone to sit with with you in case your husband cant the whole time.mkkinzy1 <mkkinzy@...> wrote: Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my explant. Guest guest
I really appreciate all the support!! I can't believe that my surgery is less that 2 weeks away. I feel so relieved to be going to Dr Feng. It is refreshing to have a dr and staff that care and listen to what I am saying. The doctors I saw here were very nasty. Especially the RN/PA. She made me feel horrible. She wouldn't look at any info I had with me or listen to a thing I had to say. She said I don't need info from the internet when there are real studies that prove implants are safe. I said I am a real person and this info makes too much sense. I wonder how she can live with herself. She told me that my getting my implants out is a cosmetic disaster and that I would have problems because my beautiful figure would be gone. I said you know what doesn't make me feel beautiful... having my 6 year old help me upstairs at night or seeing my children cry because mommy either hurts or is too tired to play with them. I still have a lot of things to take care of before my surgery. I am hoping that my insurance will cover part of my surgery. Anyone have any luck in doing this? I can't afford a lift, so that scares me. I had bad drooping before I got my implants. We are debating if we are going to fly or drive. I think it is about a 10 hour drive. I know it will cost less to drive, but wonder if I will be up to the long car ride. Also my husband will have just driven from TX to MN. I am praying the weather cooperates. I wish I knew for sure when my drainage tubes can be removed, so I can plan for a return. Hugs, MK > Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my explant. Guest guest
MK, It's awful the way the RN treated you. The " real studies " she speaks of are tailored to say exactly what the manufacturers want them to say, and often the unpleasant details somehow never make it to the study. Did the RN you're speaking of work for the plastic surgeon? Her attitude about how you would look post-explant sounds all too familiar. The plastic surgeons just want lifetime patients to guarantee their incomes, so they want to scare you into keeping them so you keep coming back for more surgery. Kind of like a car dealer!! Anyway, I'm glad you've got your appointment scheduled with Dr. Feng and that it's only two weeks away. Did you check mapquest.com to see how long of a ride it is? That's what I did, and it was pretty accurate - except I got there an hour earlier than mapquest quoted. I drove from New Jersey. I didn't find the ride home uncomfortable in the least bit - for me, explant was alot less painful than implant. I actually drove myself home from Ohio to NJ on a Friday, after having surgery Monday. Not to say I wasn't in pain for a few days, but the pain was so much less, and I think part of the reason was the drains. Sis > > Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my > explant. Guest guest
That is good to hear about your drive home. I was actually planning to drive myself before I found out that my husband could be with me. I think I will opt to drive vs fly as it is going to cost less and money is really tight due to my lovely implants. ( Yes, the nurse worked for the PS. She was a real piece of work!! Guest guest
We drove six hours to get to Dr. Feng's office. The way home wasn't as bad as I thought. Once the tubes are out, the pain is much better. Be careful driving in Ohio, my brother in law is a cop and he said Ohio is the worst for cops catching out of state plates. My hubby got a speeding ticket 45 min in to Ohio. It was a $95 fine.mkkinzy1 <mkkinzy@...> wrote: I really appreciate all the support!! I can't believe that my surgery is less that 2 weeks away. Guest guest
Wow MK Your RN/PA sounded really heartless. I liked what you told her! Good for you! Ten hours is a long time. I think it was a seven hour drive for me. The trip out was easy...the trip home was a little hard. I remember just wanting to get out of the car! Flying would be easier on you. What does your husband think? If you can afford it, I would recommend flying. Your husband is going to be very tired after that first drive and it is just so taxing. If you stopped often and stretched and ate, it might not be as hard. To get insurance to pay for your surgery, you have to have a doctor willing to confirm that you medically needed to have them removed. Sometimes you can get that if you just have capsular contraction bad enough. Though my insurance did not pay, they did pay for the pathology report which surprised me. I went to Dr. Feng and everything went very smoothly. Yours will too. Hugs, Kathy > > Dr Feng is the surgeon that I decided to go with for my > explant. I am > > scheduled to have it on March 1st.
