Guest guest
Hi, all...Jodie here... Have a couple of questions. First, I was wondering if any of you get slack from docs. regarding your psych meds. Any pain doctor will tell you that depression is a part of chronic pain. That is,and barely, what is allowed with my doc. He wonders why I take to many other psych meds. I explain that I was held hostage with a weapon (sometime ago now), and I am needing help with PTSD. He alway winces. Like am I getting a wibe that he thinks that I only think that I am in pain, the rest is in my head. Or, is that just me? A person would think that my medical records would speak for themselves. Lastly, I am kinda wondering about the connection between spine problems and fibro for some of us. I didn't have fibro until my 3rd or maybe 4th spine surgery. And, reading your posts, I see that is common. Does anybody know if there is some kind of connection. Thanks all for your time. I appreciate each and everyone of you. I really enjoy this group. Jodie
Guest guest
Jodie, Do you see a psychiatrist for your psychiatric stuff or a regular doctor? Most psychiatrists these days are anxious to prescribe psych drugs - I think they're all in the drug companies' pockets sometimes. I was so doped up when they first diagnosed my bipolar that I fell asleep sitting in a therapy session! PTSD is a real disorder and should be treated seriously. If your doctor isn't, you should look for someone who will. My fibro isn't from spinal problems, although I do go to a chirpractor regularly and it helps. I do have scoliosis - since I was a kid, but only a small degree. I don't know - anyone else heard about a connection? I haven't had any injuries that I know of and no spinal surgeries. Guest guest
Chelle, I read just last night about a connection with scoliosis and FMS. So yes, this could have caused your FMS as well. Guest guest
Chelle, I see a psychiatrist, but just for the meds. Then he has be see a counselor once a week. She hasn't decided to explore the hostage situation at this point (she does know about it), She is hoping for a more stable " me " first--there was a rape involved. So we will see. One thing that I am learning with chronic pain and emotional problems is " patience " . I will never forget at the Mayo Clinic how everybody had to hurry up and wait for hours and days on end. But what is crazy, is when they called your name, that nurse boogies as fast as she can to the individual room. I'm always like " wait, please, yoohoo wait... " ha ha Jodie > > Jodie, > > Do you see a psychiatrist for your psychiatric stuff or a regular doctor? Guest guest
Jodie, Just my .02...feel free to ignore it if you like, but I think your counselor should know about all of your issues. Otherwise, she probably can't help you. I'm sure both the rape and the hostage situation were extremely stressful and traumatic and you have my sympathy. Feel free to share if you think it would help. I was a psych major, but I'm sure there are other people on here with much better advice on psych issues. I'm more on the receiving end than the giving end. LOL Chelle
Guest guest
Chelle... Thanks so much for your concern. Maybe I will share more details someday.
