Guest guest
I was also wondering if anyone has ever thought or organizing a conference. It could include testimonies, guest speakers like Dr. Kolb or Feng, maybe an ND, and I am sure all of you could come up with more ideas to make it interesting. Maybe it could get at least local news coverage, or even sponsors like a natural supplement company? Cherie
Guest guest
Cherie, That would be a great idea for later down the road, something like that would take alot of up front costs. I worked in the marketing world for a while, it would take renting a venue, providing volunteers, advertising, finding and paying for guest speakers, and not to mention, their traveling expenses. I helped organize a celebrity tennis event to raise money and awareness for leukemia in Grand Rapids, MI about 5 years ago. The organization didn't really make anything and went bankrupt. It was a 40 hour a week job for two of us for months, which the leukemia foundation paid for. The other person I worked with in the Marketing firm, was very dishonest and didn't provide 1/2 of what he had promised to the foundaiton (I was his assistant). I was so disgusted with his marketing practices and ones I saw in the industry that I quit the "corporate world" and went into nursing. But that goes off my point, a conference would be quite and undertaking. I like your thinking, Cherie <cheriesut@...> wrote: I was also wondering if anyone has ever thought or organizing a conference. Guest guest
Years ago we did many conferences like this one, and they began to lose attendance as the issue became better known. I personally helped with and put on 30 such conferences in the US, Canada and Australia. It is a big undertaking, and takes a lot of commitment. Many women now find info on the net, so do not feel the need to attend a conference such as this. It is expensive, and you would need at least 200 women to commit to attend, and pay probably $50 each, plus they would have to have a room at a hotel (we used to do room sharing and try to keep expenses down). We provided a meal at these conference (included in cost). Dr. Feng, Dr. Kolb, Dr. Huang, Dr. Blais, Dr. Vojdani, and many others came at their own expense and did this for us.
