Guest guest
Jeanne, I'm sorry but I don't know much about why they put her on aspirin or how much she is on each day. I can speak to her mum and find out more. I know she was put on it by the cardiologist and that she is still waiting for open heart surgery which should be next year. She had a shunt operation last year. She is 5 years old this month (last week I think). I must admit I thought it strange that she was on aspirin as I knew it could be dangerous for children under 12 (?). This same kid who has big heart problems is also on cisapride for reflux---was there not a warning that children with heart defects should not be on this medication? I don't think the bleeding has anything to do with the hypoglycaemia, it's just that they have to do BM tests every few hours to check her glucose levels and it takes ages for her blood to clot. BTW does anyone know what the normal glucose levels are for children? Guest guest
About the bleeding. I was reading in my medication book last night to see if ginving Jillian Benadryl w/Zantac was okay and quite a few meds mentioned bleeding. If you tell me what meds she is on, I can look them up in my book and let you know what it says. This book is awesome!! Foley

We were told to give him this by his cardiologist. We do however stop giving him it when he has an extended illness that includes fevers, like when he had the chicken pox, we stopped the aspirin until he was over them.
