Guest guest
Rommie I am so glad that you were finally able to determine that your implants are causing problems and need to come out. It is also great that you have found a ps that is understanding and supportive. However, please make sure she knows how to do a proper explant. It is very important that she remove the implants and the entire capsule your body has formed around it. And if she can do that without spilling the contents of the implant inside your chest, that is even better. Also, we recommend that drains are inserted during surgery to help you heal better. It can help lessen chance of infection and swelling. You will find this is a great group of women who will support you in anyway we can. There is a ton of information on this site about the whole process, including ways to speed healing after explant. Welcome to our group! Guest guest
Rommie, I am so sorry you have suffered so much since getting breast implants. Some women get sick right away, some women don't get sick for years and years, and there is really no way of knowing how you will do with them. I am glad you have made the decision to get them out. It sounds like it wasn't that hard of a decision for you since you made the connection with your pain to your implants fairly early! Please make sure that your surgeon is going to remove not only the implants, but the scar tissue as well. This is going to be extremely important for your future long term health. You don't want any leftover junk sitting in your chest for years and years. Request either a total capsulectomy or the en bloc procedure upon removal, and if you have not discussed this with your surgeon yet, please do so. We have information in our links and files sections on the importance of removing all scar tissue, so continue doing your research and gathering information....let us know if you need help with anything! Guest guest
Good luck Rommie!! There was another woman who had been posting about nerve pain (she didn't have any of the joint pain that alot of us have), and after she had her implants removed, she immediately felt relief. I think you're making a really smart move by having them removed now, before anything else goes wrong. Interesting about your liver enzymes increasing, too. I got mine in May of 2005 and had them removed in November 2005 because they whacked out my immune system. Make sure the doctor that removes your implants uses the en bloc procedure and takes the capsules out, too, because the capsules often contain the chemicals that the implants are made of, and if the capsules remain in your body, you could continue to react.
