Guest guest
Hi girls, I had an opportunity today to visit an exercise place with my neighbor today and try the infrared sauna. It felt sooo good to sweat all that nasty stuff out, and when I got done, I smelled so strange - unlike normal perspiration. I think it really did some good. When I got done I took my dog for a walk, and always walk up this huge hill - today after the sauna, I couldn't resist breaking out in to a run UP the hill! The strange thing though, now I am having weird shooting sharp pains in my ears - does anyone know if that could that be a herxheimer reaction to the sauna? I think I am going to get a sauna membership - at least for a month and see how it goes. My follow-up appointment with Dr. Leu is scheduled for Wednesday. He will let me know all my lab results. Almost done the prednisone - down to six more days of a half tab. Can't wait to start detoxing. Now with the inflammation gone I feel like I have the strength to detox. I need to catch up on the posts, but I hope you are all feeling okay - I pray for you all everyday, even when I don't post. Cherie
Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I wonder if the gym around here allows people to have memberships just for the sauna, I'll have to check it out. It's really windy here in NJ, and I notice if I go for walks in the wind my ears get sore. Not sure if that's the case with you - if this isn't normal for you, maybe the sauna moved fluids around in your ears and that's why the pain. Good luck on Wednesday with Dr. Leu. I'm anxious to hear how that goes. I've got an interview on Monday - had a preliminary interview on Wednesday with human resources and now I've got round two, but this time with the hiring manager. Keep your fingers crossed!! Sis > > Hi girls, > I had an opportunity today to visit an exercise place with my > neighbor today and try the infrared sauna. Guest guest
Cherie, It's wonderful to hear you had a really good day! . . I always feel both relaxed and energized after using the infrared sauna. . does that make sense? . .. By comparison, I feel exhausted after a steam sauna. I've had some really strange smelling sweat on occasion. . .. Have you read the info on sweat content from infrared sauna? . .. High in toxins! Was it cold outside? . . . I get shooting pains in my ears sometimes when I'm outdoors in a cold wind too long. Guest guest
. . . I don't think there's a difference - but it wouldn't hurt to check with some of the sauna manufacturer's - Use their toll free line! . . . I think they're the same . . . the " Far infrared " referes to the spectrum of light emitted by the lights. Those lights you see over pick-up counters in resturants are infrared . . . but not the kind you want - that's why I'm hesitating. We did have one member who ordered a unit via ebay and found it wasn't working . . . So be sure of your source - or know how you can get a refund if that turns out to be the case. Guest guest
hmmmm. Thanks, Rogene! The seller's only had 3 bad comments... out of over a thousand. That at least makes me feel better. Guest guest
, I am having a hard time sorting thru the information on these. My biggest fear is that I get something and it is not what they say it is. So far...I have been told the ceramic heaters are best. That the surface temperature of the heaters must be below 480 degrees to produce the true far infrared spectrum.....that Canadian cedar is better than other materials....(hemlock and others),...to be careful about buying the ones made in Asia that are flooding the market.........and I don't know what is really true and what isn't..... I called one company in California ...and those are some of the things they said to me...... Comments...anyone????? > > Hi, everyone! > > Quick question: > > Is an " Infrared Sauna " the same thing as a " Far Infrared Sauna " ? Just > curious. Guest guest
Good advice Rogene..... I have called one and plan to call several others....just to see what they say......... The company in California....Clearlight Far Infrared saunas....has a toll free number and a guy named Andy I just spoke with...who was very helpful and friendly. Their stuff is made in the USA....but quite expensive......but they have a lifetime warranty. > > . . . > > I don't think there's a difference - but it wouldn't > hurt to check with some of the sauna manufacturer's - > Use their toll free line! . . . > > I think they're the same . . . the " Far infrared " > referes to the spectrum of light emitted by the > lights. Guest guest
I have the kind with Ceramic heat. It works great. I am not so picky. As long as I sweat, I am happy. I never used to sweat, now I know that is not healthy. Then I used dry heat at the health club, it took way too long. I am happy with my portable, ceramic FIR infrared sauna for $149. on ebay. sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: Good advice Rogene.....I have called one and plan to call several others....just to see what they say.........The company in California....Clearlight Far Infrared saunas....has a toll free number and a guy named Andy I just spoke with...who was very helpful and friendly. Guest guest
, No, I got one of the ones that you sit in with a small fold up chair. I wish I had go one that I lay down in. Some times my fatigue and neck pain is so great that I wish I could be lying down. I thought about getting one that lay down, but I ended up bidding onone that just sits. I eneded up with a good deal, but now I wish I coluld just take a nap while I sweat. Anyway I guess, it is better to just have one that works. Happy shopping! sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: Did you get on of those "silver" looking ones that you can lay down with....???? Guest guest
Mine is a Health Mate . . . The infrared light units have a lifetime warranty. Be sure to check on that with other units. Guest guest
Rogene, Where did you put your sauna? They told me it would smell for about a week....meaning it would make my bedroom smell a bit like cedar. Then the smell would go away and only be inside the unit. Did you find this to be the case??? I don't want my bedroom to smell like cedar that is for sure. > > > > > > > > > > . . . > > > > > > > > > > I don't think there's a difference - but it > > > > wouldn't > > > > > hurt to check with some of the sauna > > > > manufacturer's - > > > > > Use their toll free line! . . . > > > > > > > > > > I think they're the same . . . the " Far > > infrared " > > > > > referes to the spectrum of light emitted by > > the > > > > > lights. Guest guest
, Since mine is outside (covered/screened porch), I don't notice any smell until I open the sauna door. It's certainly not overwhelming . . . and I find it pleasant. I'm thinking there are a number of cedars. This cedar is very fine grained, even colored. . What I think of as cedar that used in " cedar " chests looks much different than this. Rogene --- sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: > Rogene, > Where did you put your sauna?
