Guest guest
Hi , Your symptoms sound pretty familiar. I had mine out 3 months ago, after having them for 6 months. I recall others used Dr. Melmed, I think Melinda used him (but I haven't seen Melinda post lately). Sis > > > I am serously considering using Dr. Melmed for explant of my saline > implants. Guest guest
, You might want to research using Dr. Huang in Denver. She comes highly recommended by Lynda Coss, and I know two women who were explanted by her and they both said great things about her. She would be much closer than Dallas. Although Dallas is warmer! We have only had a few women from Washington state join our group, but I do believe that there are Washington doctors listed in our files section. Have you checked into them? What did you find? I am sorry to hear of all your horrible symptoms. They definitely sound implant related to me. It's best to get those toxic bombs out as soon as you can. Let us know if you need more contact info for these doctors. Patty > > > I am serously considering using Dr. Melmed for explant of my saline > implants. Guest guest
, I used Dr. Melmed in December and he is wonderful. If you chose him, you are in wonderful hands. He does very nice work and has been explanting for over 16 years. His work just gets better (He'll show you lots of pictures!!!). I highly recommend him. If you go to a local surgeon they won't have the expertise in explanting like Dr. Melmed, Feng, Kolb, etc.... Good luck!!! Guest guest
-Hi, Thanks for responding. The only one listed is a Dr (about 3 hrs. outside of Seattle)but the member listed (cattoline@...) is not reachable by email. I have called their office and am awaiting a call back from her nurse. However, I feel like I need to go to the most experieced Dr. no matter where they are because my long term health is at stake. So I wll check out Dr Kolb and Huang too. Thank you. I'm grateful for all the support out there!! Guest guest
, You're right . . . The capsule should be removed! . . .. We've had reports of Dr. Melmed not removing capsules after saying he would. Just be thankful he's being straight with you! He does beautiful work and is very personable. But, he's working for you . . . and should remove your implant as you want it done. Chances are your implant is contaminated, or you wouldn't be sick so soon. You don't know if the contamination is on the inside or the outside of the implant. It's worth whatever it takes to have your implants removed properly! . . . I'd recommend Dr. Huang too! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Dr Melmed is a very good doctor, but I highly disagree with the idea that you don't have to have the scar capsule removed! I had my implants only 9 months, and I definitely had scar tissue that needed to go. Here are some good guidelines to use, compliments of one of our most trusted explanting surgeons, Dr. Lu-Feng. If you meet all of these conditions, then you can be at ease about the scar tissue. If you have any of these issues, then by all means, insist on complete scar tissue removal. (Thanks very much to Dr. Lu-Feng of Cleveland Ohio for these remarks regarding capsule removal after saline implants) A biological capsule will form around any implant. Any saline implant removal will require a total capsulectomy. Like anything else in life, there are few exceptions. Here are the few exceptions which would have to be fulfilled before I would entertain the possibility of not removing the saline capsule. (1) The capsule has to be tissue paper thin and without contracture. (2) The patient has to be without any local or systemic symptoms. (3) The saline implant has to be smooth shelled. (4) There has to be no previous history of gel filled implant insertion. All these conditions have to be fulfilled before I would consider not taking the saline capsule out. As you can see, few patients would fulfill these criteria. Invariably, I take out the entire capsule around saline implants. Guest guest
, I agree with Patty. Dr Melmed will remove the capsule- just share with him that you want a total capselectomy. I did, or as much as he could scrape out. He said he couldn't get approximately 2% out. Rogene had told me before my surgery to make sure a total capsulectomy was done. I had my implants 3 years and 1 month and definetely met Dr. Feng's reasons to have a capsulectomy. Dr. Melmed told me that my body will hopefully get rid of the remaining part of the capsule in about a year's time. I was in Dallas for a few days for the surgery. It is a great city. I was in the same dilemma as you. I just talked to a few doctors, prayed about it, and listened to the ladies on this sight. You are in good hands with all of us. We just want you to get better. It's comforting to know you have a support system! Feel free to ask anything else! Guest guest
-- Thank you, Ginger, I will be sure to have the capselectomy done by him. I will get it in writing. I will also be having a lift. I'm not sure which type he will be doing yet. I'm hoping this can be done at the same time, but I don't know. Did you have a lift as well? I have not even discussed how much this is going to cost yet. I'm kind of bracing myself. What did yours cost, if you don't mind me asking. Also where did you stay while in Dallas? Any place you can recommend? You've been so helpful! Thanks, - In , " gingeyo72 " <thedford@...> wrote: > > , > I agree with Patty. Guest guest
, I had a lift before this operation, so I am not sure how much he actually did. They look better than they did before I had the implants. They are still uneven, but not near as bad before. He did quite a bit of measuring to make sure everything was where it needed to be. His fee is $4000 and the antestiologist was $1000. The surgery center costs about $1000. Now I am getting a few bills for pathology which amount to about $400 to $500. A grand total of around $6500. It really stinks, but it is well worth it!!! Dr. Melmed's office will give you a list of hotels. We stayed at the Embassy Suites which was close by and they gave you a Medical City discount. It was fine. If you ask the staff, they might be able to refer you to a hotel that is newer and about the same distance. It was definetely a fine hotel, but as much as you will be in your room, you might want something a little newer for the same price. Is anyone going with you? I hope you have a good support system. The surgery is definetely longer than the first. Saline implants can be tough for the doctors to get out. How long did you have yours? He and his staff are very nice. He is extremely funny and will make you feel very comfortable. His office is very retro- groovy. As he put it, he restores things and people back to their natural beauty! Guest guest
Rogene, No, I haven't. I'm glad you said something! They sure want me to pay for it!!!! I think he did. I was so freaked out at that point, just focusing on getting them out. In his front office he has old doctor's tools and some animal hides. What I noticed the most was the 70's style furniture. I felt like I was a child again! Very retro I must say! It reminded me of an Austin Powers movie........LOL. It fits his personality. His family portraits were even from the 70's. In March I am hoping to go back for a check-up, so I will let you know. Guest guest
-- Hi Ginger, I'm scheduled explant with Dr. Melmed for this coming Tuesday. They had an opening and I took it ! I've been having an increase in symptoms. Somedays I just feel like my body is deteriorating and " revolting " against these implants. As you know, this can be pretty scary. I'm just so looking forward to having them out. He will be doing a capselectomy and a Binelli lift. Of course, I'm concerned about how I'm going to look..my intuition and what I've read online makes me feel I've made a good choice, though. I'll be staying at the newly renovated Holiday Inn Select about a mile or two from the hospital. They have a free shuttle bus that will take me right there. I have a nephew that I haven't seen in ten + years that's going to accompany me from the hosiptal. That shoud be kinda interesting.!!! I have back up with a care agency that can send help to be with me if I need it. I'd really like to hear more about your surgery experience and recovery. The surgery is on Tuesday they say I can leave Thurs. Seems like a very short time doesn't it?I go on from there to Florida to say with my Mom for a week. Then back to Seattle via Dallas. Thanks for listening to me!!! ( And ,yeah,I'm looking forward to seeing the infamous deer!!!) If you have the time, I'd love to hear back from you. Hope you are well. Thanks so much, - In , " gingeyo72 " <thedford@...> wrote: > > , > I had a lift before this operation, so I am not sure how much he > actually did. Guest guest
, I am so glad that you could get in! You will really like Dr. M. He will put you at ease. He knows that they are making you sick and knows you will feel better. It is nice not to hear crap back like you do from most plastic surgeons. I am so glad you will have someone with you. I was extremely nauseated after the surgery. The bandages were wrapped very tight, so you will be very glad when he takes those off and the drains out. The day after surgery he will check you and make sure that all of the blood is out, if not, it may take longer. Everybody at the surgery center were so nice. You're in good hands. Also, I am very glad you are going to Florida for the week. Hopefully you can relax and recover in the sunshine. You will feel better than you did after the implant surgery. No longer will you have those large objects in you and your muscle isn't being stretched like the first time. It is is a relief. Remember your breast shape will change after surgery. I was a little in shock at how I flat I looked at first. There is a period of fluffling, so be patient. And don't hesistate to post-we're all here to reassure you! It is a lot to take in. You go from these perfect, fake breasts to nothing for a little while. Little by little, your body will change and you will look much better than before. Dr. Melmed is a very skilled surgeon. I think many plastic surgeons lack the ability restore breast tissue. It is much easier for them to shove an implant in, rather than reconstruct. Please don't hesitate to ask me anything else. You will be in my prayers. Guest guest
, I asked Dr. Feng not to wrap me so tight in the bandages, because I am claustrophobic, and after my implant surgery (boobs in) the doctor wrapped me too tightly and it was painful. She agreed not to wrap me up too tight, so you could ask Dr. Melmed if he could take it easy on the bandages as well. I wish you all the best in your surgery and recovery. Guest guest
Laurie, I was explanted three weeks ago by Dr. Feng in Ohio. I live in Michigan. I had my implants for almost six years. I have had a horrible year. I had to quit working and also my nursing classes. I couldn't walk very well and I can't write more than a paragragh. When I first realized it was my implants, I didn't know where to turn. After hearing some of the ladies here tell horrible stories of comments made by their implanting surgeons. I knew I didn't even want to go to the man who told me these things were safe and would last me a lifetime. If you are going to your implanting surgeon be prepaired for unsupportive comments. He/she may be willing to take your money and do your explant, but he/she may not do it right. For you health, take the time to do your research and find someone who will care for you. Keep with us, and we will help you through this every step. We care about you. Prayerfully, Laurie <durango2124@...> wrote: Has anyone had explants done by Dr.Yang in land?
