Guest guest
Laurie, It sounds like you're still early into implant related problems. So count yourself lucky you figured it out so soon. I hope your hubby will be supportive and help you get through this! . . . Marital stress only compounds the problems at a time like this! If there's anything we can help you with, please let us know! Guest guest
Well I have decided I am not getting the lift and my hubby is okay with it!!!!!!! I have also found a PS in New Hampshire who is fairly cheap. I live in land but my family is in Maine so it all works out it looks like I will get them out in April! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! His name is Dr.Gray. How do you research a PS? http://www.atlanticplasticsurg.com Here Is the link to his site.mikat828 <mikat828@...> wrote: LaurieWelcome to our group. I am glad that you were able to find the connection so quickly to implants. Many women don't for quite awhile. It sounds like they have brought you nothing but unhappiness. I definitely agree that you should get them out. Since you haven't had them in very long, I would think that you would get a really good cosmetic result. I know it is hard not to beat yourself up for getting them, but we have all made that same mistake too. What is good about the situation, is that you can get explanted and stand a good chance of getting your symptoms to slow down or reverse. There is alot of good info on this site and we will support you anyway we can. Hugs Kathy Hi Laurie,> It's Patty....I sent you an invite to rejoin the group. I> apologize, and need to explain. Guest guest
Laurie . . . I would go talk to him . . . if he tells you that you will be unhappy, or deformed without implants - run! When you tell him you want them removed " en bloc " . . .. if he starts making excuses why it's not necessary - run! The reason we support only a handful of doctors is that we've found they can be trusted to to the best possible job and don't take any chances with women's health. A doctor doesn't have to believe implants are dangerous to remove them properly. He needs to respect you enough to do it the way you ask. Keep in mind, he/she is working FOR YOU! Guest guest
Kathy, If I go with Dr.Feng I don't know how long I will have to wait. She charges alot and we don't have that kind of money. When I do call this office I am only going to tell my initial reason and that is my relationship with my husband is more important.~Lauriemikat828 <mikat828@...> wrote: I am so glad that your husband is now supporting you! It sure helps to work together. How did you find this PS? Have you called his office? He certainly puts in silicone implants so he may be discouraging of you getting explanted. Most PS take the stance that implants don't cause illness and tell you your symptoms are from something else. Then they try to tell you that you won't be happy with how you are going to look and that you will be sorry. In addition, since they won't admit implants cause illness, they usually take them out as easily as possible for themselves and that means leaving the capsule in that your body formed around the implant. So you may want to call and talk to him or his nurse first to get a feel for where he stands and what he would be willing to do. Since you are in land, you are not that far from Dr. Feng in Cleveland. She does many explants and will do them properly and believes they make women sick. Guest guest
Laurie, I am not a Bible expert, but I know what you mean on trying to find something in the Bible against getting implants, I have struggled with that myself. I have been doing a lot of soul searching and this is what I have come up with..... Leviticus 12:28 Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord. In Leviticus, God gives a list of instructions to man on the proper way to care for our bodies. He does this to minimize disease. Of course he couldn’t say to the Old Testament people that it is wrong to get breast implants because this is something that wasn’t invented yet. However, we need to take his idea with marking the body as the closest thing. Tattoos were putting foreign material into the human body, thus increasing the chance to get infections and disease, not to mention changing the way he made us. Our bodies are the temple of Christ, 1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. When I decided to get my implants I wasn’t thinking of God at the time. I didn’t think, “Gee, big fake boobies will make my God look good.” I didn’t respect God’s design, instead I changed it. I told God, “You didn’t do a good job on this piece of art….here let me change it.” Romans 8:5-8 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 1:14-15 But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. I don’t think getting the implants themselves was the “wrong” thing, because they are a medical device that can be beneficial for some. What I did wrong in God’s view was the condition of my heart at the time I decided to get them. I was angry at God for making me flat, so I got defiant and acted like a spoiled brat. I was going to get what I wanted….bigger boobs. I never sought God’s plan or will for my life. I didn’t give him my insecurity and low self esteem to help me through it. I was going to give myself what he failed to do. This is not honoring to my creator. God does not make mistakes, He is perfect. If I don’t have “big ones” I should have accepted that and asked God to help me. And I didn’t. This was my sin. Therefore, since I didn’t include Him in this decision I now see that He didn’t bless this area of my life. Instead of asking God to give me a better self-esteem, I bought a fake self-esteem. Now, I am forced to deal with the same poor image issues and also, health and financial issues. This is just my understanding of my situation. We are all different with different motives for getting implants. This is something you need to seek God for your answers. He, in His timing, will give you a better understanding. I hope this helps, Laurie <durango2124@...> wrote: From Laurie Mon Feb 27 10:29:44 2006Received: from [68.239.123.35] by web31804.mail.mud. via HTTP; Mon, 27 Feb 2006 10:29:44 PSTDate: Mon, 27 Feb 2006 10:29:44 -0800 (PST)From: Laurie <durango2124@...>Subject: Re: Laurie, a note - Here's My Story (Laurie)Tricia Trish <glory2glory1401@...>In-Reply-<20060227175240.47766.qmail@...>MIME-Version: 1.0Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="0-568510353-1141064984=:25205"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bitContent-Length: 3162 I honestly can't remember if I actually introduced myself. But anyways I am almost 26. I have three children and I am married. I got my implants in October. Just before the surgery I had changed my mind but didn't dare tell my husband cause we had paid a non-refundable deposit of 500.00. So I went and did it 10/13/05. I have been trying to get the courage to tell my husband I want them out. And I felt really stupid cause I was worried about 500 when I let him spend a total of 5,000! But I was thinking once I had them I would be happy with them, well I was sooooo wrong! I mean I like them and how I look (clothed) kind of odd seeing them there!) It has caused nothing but mostly fighting between us. I have NOT changed how I dress they are just more noticeable now and he has a cow if I wear certain shirts (he bought them too!) And they were still sore until about a month ago and he has been very impatient if you know what I mean. Well anyways a few weeks ago in the morning I noticed when I ran my hands through my hair I would be holding 4-5 strands each time so I looked up hair loss online and it said it is normal to lose more hair in the morning so I figured it was normal. Well on Thursday (the 23rd) I spent most of the day trying to find out if it is Biblically wrong to get implants. Well I couldn't find anything (so far) but I decided I was gonna tell my husband when he came home on break I didn't want them anymore cause I was sick of the fighting about them and it just doesn't seem right. Well I lost my courage to tell him when he came home. But that night he went to bed early and I watched CSI. After that was over I was messing with my hair and the same thing happened as previously but it was night time so I thought about it and I decided I had the perfect test to see if I was exagerating (sp) well the test proved I was not! I have always had thick hair and could not use regular sized barrettes well I had one in my hair! (Just the top pulled back). I typed in hair loss breast implants on a search and could not believe what I found! And that is how I found this forum! I woke my husband up and told him I wanted them out. I expected him to be really mad. But I think if you search through the forum archives between the dates of 2/23-the present you will find mine some of the subjects say unknown and I have replied to ?, Rogene, and maybe a couple more but I just can't type anymore right now. I will let you know also I have been really tired and the acne is horrible! Guest guest
, I am not sure if these help or not I am going to re-read this but for now I just wanted to say that I grew up dead set against fake boobs. I have no idea exactly how I changed my mind but anyways I justified what I was about to do by telling myself and others that if people could get other parts fixed then I could fix my boobs. Does that make sense? Like if you are born with a cleft lip you can have surgery to fix it. ~Laurie Lamse <wannabe_proverbs31@...> wrote: Laurie, I am not a Bible expert, but I know what you mean on trying to find something in the Bible against getting implants, I have struggled with that myself. Guest guest
These are the same reasons I used to justify it myself also. I used the excuse that being "under-developed" was a birth defect for me. When I had my children, I didn't even produce milk to feed them. Obviously, God didn't intend for that....right? One thing I have learned, whenever most people sin, they make excuses to justify it. Then the guilt isn't as bad. Well, my guilt is worse now. This is just another thing I need to deal with. Have a good night Laurie <durango2124@...> wrote: , I am not sure if these help or not I am going to re-read this but for now I just wanted to say that I grew up dead set against fake boobs. Guest guest
Ladies, Please don't be so hard on yourself . . . Millions of dollars go into making you feel so bad about yourself that you KNOW what you need to FIX yourself is surgery, a cosmetic, or the latest fashion statement . . . The media presents people unrealistically, but as real. . . Most of those we admire are madeup, surgically altered, or photographically altered . . . I can't tell you how furious I get when I see breast implants advertised like a cosmetic! . . . The advertisements target the subconscious and they work! .. . . It takes an experience like you've gone through for you to see what's real and good! If nothing else comes from your experience, it's to see that women are more than their boobs! Hugs and prayers . . . Rogene
Guest guest
Laurie, En bloc means removing the capsule that has grown around the implant, with the implant still inside so nothing inside the capsule will be spilled into your chest cavity. It takes a lot more skill on the part of the surgeon. Most of them would like to just make an incision, slit the capsule, remove the implant and close the incision. . . Leaving all the bacteria and silicone debris behind. We've found that, when women don't get better after being explanted, the usually fall in one of three categories . .They had a extracapsular rupture either before, or during their explant, or the capsule wasn't removed. They may get better eventually, but they will have a much tougher road ahead. . . This gives the plastic surgeons reason to say that removing ones breast implants won't make any difference in their illnesses! Guest guest
Hi Thank You I have been trying to look at everything but it's hard to keep up with it all! Anyways I just recieved an email from the PS office she says he will remove everything. Should I get that in writing and a signature? I am going to keep these emails as documentation of my Q & A'S to him.~Laurieglory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: Laurie,We have the answer to that question in our database. Here is the Q. and A.Q. What is En Bloc removal?A. En bloc refers to the method of removing an implant along with the scar tissue that surrounds the implant in one unit. It is primarily used for removal of silicone gel implants to ensure that if there is any loose silicone gel from ruptured or leaking implants, that the gel does not escape into the chest cavity and contaminate surrounding tissue. However, en bloc removal is the preferred method of removal for saline implants as well, to ensure complete removal of scar tissue. When an en bloc removal is performed, and all scar tissue surrounding the implant is removed, the resulting effect is called a total capsulectomy, which is the desired end result for all explants.Q. What is a total capsulectomy?A. A total capsulectomy refers to the complete excision of all scar tissue that has formed around an implant. Scar tissue will always be formed around a foreign object in the body. It is imperative that a total capsulectomy be done at the time of explant, as opposed to a partial capsulectomy. No scar tissue should be allowed to remain in the body, as it can continue to elicit an immune response, preventing full healing. Scar capsules can contain silicone particles, breakdown products, bacterial colonies and other pathogenic material that can prevent total healing. For this reason a total capsulectomy MUST always be performed when implants are removed from the body, for complete healing to be attained and for future protection. If an en bloc removal is performed, this will ensure a total capsulectomy is done as well. However, a total capsulectomy can be performed separately, in which the doctor ensures that all sections of the scar tissue are removed from the body, not leaving anything behind.>> Rogene,> what is en bloc?> > http://durango2124.fotopages.com LAURIE B.
