Guest guest
I just had ANOTHER friend tell me that she got her implants replaced with silicone gel implants. You can imagine how horrified I was when she told me this. She knew what I went thru but her doctor talked her into the silicone ones becuase they felt more natural. My question is how on earth are doctors able to do this? I thought silicone was not FDA approved???? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated, I had another girlfriend of mine from Cleveland do the same thing just recently, apparently her body kept " rejecting " the saline ones so they put in silicone. I just don't get it, and I am so worried for the both of them, especially because they are my age and planning on having children soon. it really upsets me! any comments would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Jenna, That is so sad. It is possible for women to get silicone gel implants through loopholes in the system. The FDA does not enforce anything. It seems they either don't have the power to, or don't care enough to. Any woman can get silicone gel implants, even though they are not approved. All she needs to do is use a doctor who will " confirm " that saline implants have not worked out for her, and she needs to switch them to silicone gels for a better outcome. They also make a bogus claim that they will be part of a study. (which usually doesn't happen.) Women can get silicone gels for the first time (not having had salines first) by also claiming that they are willing to be part of a study, but then most of them are never followed up. These are the impressions I've gotten about the whole silicone gel scam...and there are plenty of doctors out there willing to do what they can to use gels even though they are not approved. These doctors refuse to believe that implants can be harmful. I also get quite upset at the idea that women will be having children with silicone implants in place. It is so unfair for our children to be born into the world with this strike against their health. I can't believe a human race would do this to its own children....it's very, very upsetting. I hate our government for allowing it. Patty > > I just had ANOTHER friend tell me that she got her implants replaced > with silicone gel implants. Guest guest
Jenna, The ONLY thing I know that will stop these doctors is to report them . . . To the medical association, to the FDA . . . Zuckerman collects names of these docs too! You would think that they already would have put a stop to it . . . but I guess blood money gets in the way! Just keep spreading the word . . . person by person! . .. . If every person tells two people, a million people have been told by the time the 21st person on the list is reached. We can do it! Guest guest
Jenna I would like to know the answer to that too. I can understand your fear for your friends. How can they be that stupid after seeing you get sick? We have so many women here who have had sisters get implants after they saw how sick their sister was. I don't know if they don't actually believe you got sick from implants or just don't think it will happen to them. I have 2 sisters with implants--they got them before I did. Neither of them thinks I got sick from my implants. I think they think I was just a hypochondriac. My one sister seems fine except for rosacea on her face and premature gray hair. My other sister doesn't have the symptoms I had but thinks she is developing " fibromyalgia " . Oh well, there is nothing you can do but be there for them when they get sick. Guest guest
Patty, Rogene and Kathy, thanks for responding. Unbelievable is all I can say! As for my 2 girlfriends, the one got the silicone before she found out I was sick but the other girl knew how sick I was and still got silicone. She actually was afraid to tell me, then her BF did. I don't know, sometimes I wonder if they ever even believed me when I told them how sick I got and that it was from the implants. It is very sad, i just don't understand how they could even take a chance when it comes to infecting a newborn child. Very sad. And the government sux ass along with all of the PS's that are putting these toxic bombs in so many women! > > > > > > > > I just had ANOTHER friend tell me that she got her implants > replaced > > with silicone gel implants. Guest guest
Jenna, it's me . I have silicone gel implants and had them put in three years ago. They aren't safe, infact 90% of the problems I have started when I switched from saline to silicone...I had a repair surgery and implant exchange. The PS swore it was safe and that they would soon be on the market I got them by qualifying to be in a " test " group. Problem is it doesn't take much to qualify. Yes silicone does feel much better then saline but they still feel fake, just a softer fa ke.I wish to God I had never switched now, I didn't realize it was the implants until a year and a half after they were put in and even then I had doubts because the doctors said that it wasn't the implants. We put way too much trust in doctors. Many women put too much worry into the way we look, and if you have surgery to " fix " something you don't like you may end up worse off. I pray your friend doesn't have the problems that I am faced with now. I am not terribly sick but I think if I wait too long I could be down that path. By the way I have set my explant date with Dr Kolb on the 28th of March. Tahnk you for all the support. Guest guest
Jenna, unfortunately there are some people who just don't get it, and your friend seems to be one of them. Hopefully she won't pay the price that many of us did, but if she does, you'll be the first person she calls. Guest guest
, congratulations on setting your date. Saline is unfortunately not safe, either, that's what I had - and I've got joint swelling, anxiety, swollen lymph nodes, etc. I think the difference between saline and silicone is that silicone can migrate throughout the body when it ruptures, but I think I've read that the saline shell can migrate when the shell starts breaking down in salines - so you may have eventually started having problems with the salines as well. Guest guest
Hi , I am going to forward this to my friends. It is really upsetting. I am so happy that you scheduled your surgery. I think that is the hardest part! and waiting until then as well! I know it is hard, trust me! Hang in there and stay strong, it will all be over before you know it and you will be on the road to a full recovery! i have a feeling about you girl! It will all work out, and you are in good hands too. Lots of hugs to you too, Jenna > > > > I just had ANOTHER friend tell me that she got her implants replaced > > with silicone gel implants. Guest guest
That's where I cry the most....when it comes to harming the kids, these little babies coming into the world so helpless. If there is anything at all that stops us dead in our tracks from implanting one single woman more with implants, it should be because we care about our precious future children. May God help us! May some sanity become evident in Washington somehow, someway, somewhere! Guest guest
, Thank you so much for sharing this important post. Women need to hear that switching from saline to silicone is NOT SAFE. I fear that is where this is headed. I am very happy to hear that you are scheduled for explant with Dr. Kolb. I pray that your health concerns resolve quickly for you and that you get your health back in full measure. Keep us updated!
