Guest guest
Kathie, you have really worked hard at finding a way to have the implants removed, and I think you are very courageous for not giving up. In my own experience, I know the explant surgery was much less painful than the implant surgery - although I know your surgery will probably be more involved than mine was. You are doing the right thing and I'm sure you know that, and women's intuition is something that I firmly believe in. We'll be here for you and when you're having your surgery, we'll be there with you in spirit. I'm so sorry that you've had such a tough road, but I can tell you are a fighter, and I always think of that old adage " a winner never quits, and a quitter never wins " . You are a winner!! Guest guest
Kathie I am so glad that you have your date set for explant and it isn't that far away! You have really persevered in getting this to happen. My explant was easier then my implant and I hope it will be that way for you too. Even if it isn't, it will still be the beginning of a new chance for you to feel better. You have been through so much already and I admire your determination to get these out and give yourself a chance to get well. At least you will not be looking at that whole process you went through the first time with the expanders, etc. We will all be thinking of you and praying for you that day. Hang in there. Hopefully someday soon, you will be feeling better and this will all seem like a bad memory. Keep positive thoughts and prepare yourself by using these weeks to eat healthy, drink lots of pure water and keep in a positive frame of mind about your upcoming explant. Sending a big hug, Kathy --- In , " kathie " <Kathie.Larsyn@...> wrote: > > so on march 20th, almost five years to the date of my bilateral > mastectomy, i will have the silicone (mentor) implants taken out...i > was reading somewhere, maybe in here, that someone's explant lasted for > five hours since there is no tissue left after mastectomy and the > silicone had adhered to the ribs.......and the PS had to scrape and > scrape.........i just need to have it be over, adjust to a body > concave, heal, get back to work ASAP since i have to........but i am so > very scared......the pain after the mastectomy was almost too much to > bear, and then there were tubes in for two weeks, and then expanders, > and well, anyway, it was fairly awful............soooooo, any words of > encouragement would be appreciated.......... > > thanks > > kathie >
Guest guest
Kathie, Thank God you're finally going to get those toxic bombs out! . . . I'm very doubtful that you will experience anything like the pain you had with your mastectomy and expanders. . . Just be sure the doctor puts in drains for as long as you need them. That can prevent a lot of pain! We'll be praying for you! . . . I believe everyone's prayers helped me . . . I didn't have a single pain after my lumpectomy last week . . not even a twitch! . . . When I went for my post op today, they told me some women come in at this time bent over from pain. . . Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Kathie, I had an explant yesterday. My surgery took about 4 hours. My pain after my augmentation surgery was worse, than the pain I am having with explant. I have drain tubes. I have never had a masectomy, so I don't know what to say. I have read your posts and you are a strong woman. I feel bad that you had to endure the pain of cancer and now the pain caused from your implants. It is sad. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that you are getting your implants out. Keep posting. Hugs, Marcy > > > > so on march 20th, almost five years to the date of my bilateral > > mastectomy, i will have the silicone (mentor) implants taken > out...i > > was reading somewhere, maybe in here, that someone's explant > lasted for > > five hours since there is no tissue left after mastectomy and the > > silicone had adhered to the ribs.......and the PS had to scrape > and > > scrape.........i just need to have it be over, adjust to a body > > concave, heal, get back to work ASAP since i have to........but i > am so > > very scared......the pain after the mastectomy was almost too much > to > > bear, and then there were tubes in for two weeks, and then > expanders, > > and well, anyway, it was fairly awful............soooooo, any > words of > > encouragement would be appreciated.......... > > > > thanks > > > > kathie > > >
