Guest guest
My 4 yo son has had a problem with yeast all along. It does not show up in stool tests, but does in the OAT. He did not seem to have many of the GI issues- poops regularly, poops look OK except they get really light when the yeast behaviors rise, and he didn't really complain of any pain. We recently started with a DAN dr., and had a stool test done (DD). It came back showing no yeast, but lots of Strep, Pseudomonas, and lots of other bacteria, and none of the Bifido Bacterium varieties. The dr. put my son on a 14-day course of Diflucan. I saw some immediate improvements, but not in what I had thought of as yeast symptoms. His logical reasoning got better (more multi-layered...I don't know how to explain this better), better fine motor -was able to write letters, etc. but we started seeing behaviors that weren't there, or weren't much of an issue before- more disorganized, more trouble at school over focus and generally " being there " , verbal stimming and scripting has increased a 1000-fold, he is more defiant and angry all the time. It has gotten worse since we stopped the Diflucan (done with the 14 days), and today I am seeing a new stim (he doesn't usually stim, except verbally sometimes)- he kinda runs with these little steps and moves his hands and fingers in front of him (elbows at chest), head shaking, and has a verbal something with- sorry if this is too much detail, but this is all new, and I don't know what to do. I thought that maybe the strep took over where Difl. cleared the yeast, so I started him on these homeopathic medicines for Strep/ Viruses (DAN prescribed for use after Difl.). This stim came in after these, but it almost seems like it was building up from the Difl. time. What I am even more worried about is that he has been complaining of stomach pain from about the 9th day into Diflucan. The day after he first had pain he got a really high fever- went down later, and he had the fever only for about 1.5 days - got a rash on his face like little pimples or prickly heat, and then got a little eczema around his mouth (previously had eczema here). The stomach pain still comes in, always in the evening/ night. I'm really sorry this has turned into a rambling post, but I don't know what to do next. Please help! Thanks! Guest guest
what are you doing for a probiotic? have you tried something like OLE yet? (to treat the bacteria) vit A? (this would help get rid of the visual stimming in our house) Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Any ideas on what is happening with my child? - XPost My 4 yo son has had a problem with yeast all along. Guest guest
Just wondering...are you giving him any digestive enzymes with food? Enzymes could help with the stomach discomfort. karen > > My 4 yo son has had a problem with yeast all along. It does not show > up in stool tests, but does in the OAT. Guest guest
Thanks for replying. He gets No-Fenol with meals and some snacks. He doesn't seem to do very well on the TriEnza. I give him VSL #3 in the AM and Klaire Therbiotic Detox and Factor 4 at night. I have tried Threelac in the past, but it seemed to make him hyper. After we started the Klaire probiotics, he has to pee multiple times in the night. We've now got him to wear a pull-up for the night. Thanks again! Guest guest
I forgot to add that his Varicella titers are very high.
Guest guest
VSL3 has milk in it, which would make my kid nuts. if he has yeast issues or has been getting milk and has issues with that (which he would have been getting with the VSL3) then he may be going through withdraw with the trienzyme. which it will also fight yeast issues as well so you may be seeing die off with that, which can at night look like wetting the bed as you go through it. if you didn't respond well to threelac *which also contains milk, that may be why you are again seeing issues with the VSL3 in combo with trienzyme. therbiotic detox will also trigger die off. all in all it sounds like you are going through die off, and with draw all at one time, I would (my personal if it were me statement) drop the VSL3 to get the milk out and go through the die off as that means gains in the end Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: Any ideas on what is happening with my child? - XPost Thanks for replying. Guest guest
Wow. I had no idea about the milk in VSL3. I looked up the ingredients and there wasn't any (obvious) casein. This explains so much. He really does go nuts on casein too. And it explains the little eczema around the mouth too that I thought was from the Diflucan die-off! I haven't been giving him TriEnza since we started VSL3 though. DS has high beta and gamma strep #s- and I noticed that VSL has a Strep strain in there too. If I stop everything for a couple days, what order would you suggest getting things back on? He gets some homeopathic meds for the strep- just started last week- and the usual supps:P5P, 5HTP, L-Carnitine, etc. I'm sorry but could you understand what you mean by withdrawal? I understand d/o- do you mean from the limited casein he gets from the VSL3? Thanks much! > > VSL3 has milk in it, which would make my kid nuts. if he has yeast issues or has been getting milk and has issues with that (which he would have been getting with the VSL3) then he may be going through withdraw with the trienzyme. which it will also fight yeast issues as well so you may be seeing die off with that, which can at night look like wetting the bed as you go through it. if you didn't respond well to threelac *which also contains milk, that may be why you are again seeing issues with the VSL3 in combo with trienzyme. therbiotic detox will also trigger die off. all in all it sounds like you are going through die off, and with draw all at one time, I would (my personal if it were me statement) drop the VSL3 to get the milk out and go through the die off as that means gains in the end > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 > > Re: Any ideas on what is happening with my child? - XPost > > > Thanks for replying. Guest guest
yes meaning if he has issues with casein then he is getting a casein high, the trienzyme would have actually counter acted it some. with the strep issues as well I would KEEP The therabiotic detox support in, and just remove the others and your problems should clear up. I would also look into OLE and likly biotin with some of the issues you have discribed Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: Any ideas on what is happening with mychild? - XPost> > > Thanks for replying.
