Guest guest
Rogene, Guess what? My great-grandfather was one of the 1918 Mustard Gas victims listed in the first link. My mother told me he was in the military and was part of a mustard gas experiment and was ill his entire life because of the experiments. In 1920 I found him on the census and he was an " inmate " at a veterans hospital. Eventually he was discharged from the hospital but I think he was there a good 10 years or more, because I also found him in another military hospital in the 1930 census. He lived into the 1950's, but my mother said he was never healthy. Sis > > Interesting websites . . . Guest guest
A friend's husband was exposed to some kind of gas in about 1977 . . He was a civil service employee who went to a training session . . . When he came back, he told his wife that they purposely exposed them to a gas. Within a short time he began having symptoms . . . He aged very rapidly from that time - But it took him years to die. Horrible, horrible, horrible! . . . As far as she knows, the government never followed up to see what effects the gas had on him. She has the names of the others who attended the session, but she's never checked to see what happened to them! She receives a monthy check ($500) as widow's benefits. I suspect she fears she would lose that check if she makes waves. Hugs, Rogene
