NIH Scientists Said to Have Taken Payouts from

Biomedical Companies

All Things Considered, December 22, 2004 · The

National Institutes of Health's policies allowing

government scientists to accept consulting fees from

drug companies is drawing scrutiny. The NIH has

enacted tougher restrictions, but an article in the

Los Angeles Times notes a conflict of interest when

doctors endorse or recommend drugs made by the very

companies they work for. NPR's Block talks
