I wonder if she had breast implants? Statistics have shown that women with breast implants die of lung cancer at a higher rate than women who don't. ( see http://www.breastimplantinfo.org/what_know/implantcancers.html ) How sad... Dana Reeve Dies of Lung Cancer at 44 By Muskal, Times Staff Writer11:35 AM PST, March 7, 2006 Dana Reeve, an actress whose days of sunny fame with her star husband turned into an odyssey of tragedy and hope, has died of lung cancer at the age of 44.Reeve gave up her entertainment career to care for her husband during his 10 years of almost complete paralysis, when she and became fighting symbols for those who refused to give up, even against the most desperate odds. She used her celebrity to campaign for

stem cell and other medical research to treat spinal cord injuries like the one that paralyzed her husband, best known for his starring turn in the movies as Superman. She died Monday night at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Medical Center in New York City, the Reeve Foundation announced."Dana will always be remembered for her passion, strength and ceaseless courage that became her hallmark," according to Kathy , foundation president, in a statement posted on its website. "Along with her husband , she faced adversity with grace and

determination, bringing hope to millions around the world."The death also drew memorials from the political world. "Dana Reeve used the great personal challenge of her husband's paralysis to work so that other families would not have to endure the same pain," said House Minority Leader Pelosi (D- San Francisco) in a statement released this morning. "By bringing hope to the sick and disabled with the miraculous potential of stem cell research, she has helped to continue the mending and renewing of the world that is possible through science." The Reeves' marriage was out of a script. Both were actors who met while honing their skills in summer stock at the town Theatre Festival, nestled in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. She appeared on the stage in New York and on television shows including "Law & Order."The couple married and had a son, Will, now 13. The family also included two grown stepchildren, and andra.

The idyll came to an abrupt end when was paralyzed in a horse-riding accident in 1995. Medical experts gave the star little hope for any type of recovery, but the Reeves refused to give up. His saga of optimism and fierce determination to recover the use of his body captivated a star-struck public until he died in 2004.During that period, Dana Reeve was a constant companion, caregiver and tireless advocate for helping those with spinal cord injuries. She followed her husband as chair of the foundation, which funded medical research. In August, Reeve announced that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. She said she was never a smoker. In one of her last appearances four months ago at a gala for the foundation, Reeve said she was responding well to treatment and her tumor was shrinking. "I'm beating the odds and defying every statistic the doctors can throw at me," Reeve told the media. "My prognosis looks better all the time."

She reminded reporters that she "had a great model" for staying optimistic. "I was married to a man who never gave up," she said. I was wondering that also. I watched a tribrute to her on the Today Show and in some pictures she did look "bigger" than others. But then again, she could have been using a push up bra. I had heard several months ago that she had lung cancer. Considering all that she had been through, I would say stress may have played a huge part in her illness. It is hard to be a caregiver and she was one of the very best. She took wonderful care of her husband I hear and that may well have contributed to her illness as well. So young to die. I hope she has joined her husband. Lamse <wannabe_proverbs31@...> wrote: I was wondering that also. I saw on the Today Show a bit about why more and more women are getting lung cancer and not ever smoking. The "expert" explained that there is differences in men and women's biological and hormonal make up. They were saying estrogen may have a factor. But then he quickly jump passed the idea that women may not process toxins as well as men...he didn't say what kind of toxins. glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: I wrote to the American Cancer Society and asked them if they knew the answer about Dana Reeve. IMHO, women are exposed to more chemicals on a daily

basis than most men . . . Personal care products,

cosmetics, cleaning products, often yard products like

pesticides and herbicides.

I would think that Dana Reeve stayed under a huge

amount of stress while trying to cope with everything

involved in her husbands care. I'm sure that

contributed to her cancer.

I do wonder if she had breast implants though. . .

Looking at some photos would leave it open to

question.

Hugs,

Rogene
