Guest guest
I had deep vein thrombosis when I was only seventeen. .. . First in one leg where they tied off a major vessel . . . after three weeks in the hospital, I was home for three days before it hit the other leg. I was in the hospital for seven weeks that time! I attribute it to sitting at a sewing machine for a long time - probably not drinking much water - as well as recently given birth. I was lucky to keep my legs, let alone live! I still have circulation problems as a result. This is one of the complications that can occur with HRT, as well as the estrogen blockers that are used to prevent the reoccurance of breast cancer in estrogen receptive cancers. I'm trying to decide if I'll take the medication. I'll talk to the oncologist about it, and maybe try it a short time. However, I'm inclined to refuse it long term. They gave my 90-year old mother Tamoxiphen after her breast cancer. Now I'm wondering if it contributed to her disability since one of the side effects is joint pain. . . Within a few months, she was completely disabled and in a nursing home because of joint pain. I'm concerned about her taking it because she just sits in a chair all day and doesn't drink many liquids. My brother is going to check it out.
