, I also had my implants put in the month of April 2000. I was only 27 years old then. I finished having all my babies, I cant imagine the pain you are going through concerning your youngest. However, I do know that my health deteriorated greatly after getting the implants. I was hospitalized a couple of times with extreme infections and had a mass found in my right kidney that caused a build up of 20 calcified stones. Last year I started having MS like symptoms and was close to wheelchair dependency. I just got my implants out in Feb, and my symptoms are slowly fading. I finally have hope for a future when last summer I did not. I was like you, I thought they were safe and I loved my figure up to the point when I realized the implants were making me sick. This group of ladies helped me tremendously, stick with us and all your questions will be answered. Don't get discouraged, you

Yes, ins. has covered explant, but usually when there is extreme

hardness, pain, or rupture.

Recovery is no worse than implantation, and often much better.

Many, many women have traveled to have an explant. Where are you?

Dr. Feng is excellent. Others are also, so it depends on your location.

Hi ,

I'm really glad that you found us. This site has helped me in more

ways than I can ever express, and all our symptoms are just too

similar for it to be a coincidence. I got my implants in May 2005,

and had them out in November of 2005. They made me sick really

quickly, and I'm still trying to regain my health. My lymph nodes

swelled up, my joints swelled up, my bones ached, I got terrible

headaches and brain fog, the list goes on. Getting well doesn't

happen overnight for most of us, but I am so relieved that they are

out of my body. You are by no means alone, because we're all in

various stages with this. Some women had their explants years ago,

some are fully recovered, some are still recovering - others just

recently had their explants, some have explants scheduled, and still

others are coming here just like you, searching for answers and

looking for support. We're here for you, and we understand, because

we have been there.

I went to Dr. Feng for my explant. I traveled to Ohio from New

Jersey. My insurance didn't cover explant unless you got implants

because of cancer. Pain wise, the explant was much less painful

than getting implants.

OKay...here goes.

Has anyone's insurance covered explant? How does the explant surgery compare to the implant surgery...pain wise and recovery wise? How many of you have used Dr. Feng in Ohio? How many of you had to travel to get explanted?

, It has been a whirl wind for me. Just at the start of the new year, I started researching....agian some of my new symptoms. I am not sure why I thought this time would be different, because for a year I researched the internet until I was blue in the face and a hypochondriac. Not one doctor could tell me what was wrong with me. Anyway, I miraculously found Kacey Long's story which led me to here. Within one week of talking with these wonderful bunch of ladies, I knew those toxic bags had to go. It was hard to swallow because I loved my augmented form. But after loosing my job, and my nursing classes, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I knew who I wanted to to do the surgery, Dr. Feng. She was wonderful, well worth the 6 hour car ride. Even worth the $95 speeding ticket my husband got in Ohio. We drove from the Lake Michigan coast of Michigan. She is an

excellent surgeon, my incision scars are very thin, thinner than the implanted scars. Her staff is very understanding also. We had to borrow the money for the explant from the kids's college money. As soon as I can work again, I will replace every last penny, with interest. We are still fighting our insurance company for reimbursement. They feel we should have chosen someone in the "network", I wanted the best. I hope this helps, feel free to ask anything, we are here for you. We have ASR out of Grand Rapids. Where are you located? I don't recall anyone else from MI in our group at this time. It is nice to see another Michigander. I made the decision to have the explant before I ever saw Dr.Feng. After talking with in her office, I was reassured I was doing the right thing. I made the appointment for the surgery and the pre-op appointment was the day before. We stayed in Cleveland for 6 days. We had a great hotel with a kitchenette and made our own meals. Our kids are older and we could stay that long without incidence. Our 18 year old watched the younger ones for us. It worked out great because he just left for the Air Force last week. We did have to stay one day longer becasue Dr. Feng was not comfortable taking out the drains, I was measuring high. My only advice is to follow the reccommendations of the ladies here concerning proper removal and also listen to your

inner voice. Have a Good night, Ljdebolt@... wrote: Who is your insurance company? , as will attest to, you'd be surprised how supportive

your family will be. Yes, it's self-inflicted, but we were not

properly informed, so please try not to blame yourself.

Dr. Feng does the pre-op the day before surgery, and you have the

option of a follow-up about 9 months later if you choose. Most of

her patients travel to her from out of state, so she tries to make

it as convenient as possible. You could stay anywhere from 2 days

to 5 or even 6 days, it depends on the output of the drains.

Who is your insurance company? I am so very exhausted and I'm sure depressed; I wonder if I will even be able to pull together an explant sometimes.

It sounds like a lot of work, and I have six kids to worry about including the two babies. I am not sure how extended family will react to this self-inflicted drama, I am embarrassed to ask for help.

How hard was it getting the surgery in Ohio what with follow-ups and pre-ops? How long did you have to stay?

Re: Introduction.....

,

I also had my implants put in the month of April 2000. Don't get discouraged, you will find your way here. You are in the right place.jdebolt@... wrote:

Hi everyone. My name is , I am 41 years old and have had my implants for six years. I wanted to feel better about my 35 year old body after having given birth to and breastfeeding five healthy babies. I got my implants in April of 2000 just after the huge debate about the saftey of implants on the market. Of course, I was told how safe saline was, and that there was nothing to worry about.

In July of 2001, I had to have lung surgery (thoracotomy) to remove a growth that was found on my lungs. It was biopsied and found inconclusive. (AFB) I now believe it was implant related. I had never had asthma or chronic allergies... until the implants. I have struggled/am struggling with a whole host of symptoms, but always have had another excuse for what I was feeling. I was also not educated on the dangers of implants...and didn't know. I am scared by what I am now finding out. Even the symptoms my baby has experienced! Yes, I had my sixth baby with implants and breastfed her as well. I am appalled now, by what I have read!! Again, I was told that it was safe. eck! I am so angry.

Now, I will begin my journey of getting these out. I have a feeling it is going to be a long one. I hope to regain my health before it is too late. I am so glad to have stumbled back upon this site. I need support and a shoulder to cry on. I need people who know, and understand. I want to help others who are going to make the same awful mistakes....help them to avoid this heartache.

Thanks for listening....I have a whole host of questions. Anyone volunteer? lol

Hi

I feel so bad for your situation. I had my implants removed in

October (implanted in 1997 and started getting sick in 2000). It

took 5 1/2 years to put it together. No doctor would ever tell me

they could have been the problem, yet they couldn't tell me what the

cause of my chest pain was. Many women on this site have gotten

well after explant, with healthy eating habits and detox programs,

and that encourages me. I still haven't figured out what will take

my pain away, but I'm going to keep on trying. Even though I'm not

better yet, I still am so glad to have them out - they were toxic to

my body and I don't really know if I will ever totally heal. But at

least now I have hope. When I still had the implants, things were

only getting worse. You called it a journey, and that is just what

it is. I hope you find all of your answers from the wonderful women

here.

Prayers,

Cherie
