Cherie, Did you get a copy of your operative report from explant? If not, I would highly suggest that you do, and look it over for evidence that your plastic surgeon did in fact do a total capsulectomy for you. This is a legal document which will outline the exact procedures the plastic surgeon performed during the surgery, so you will see a discussion of the capsule removal process. That way you can know for sure that he did indeed do a total capsulectomy. I am not dissing your plastic surgeon....I just know that there are doctors out there who will tell women that they are going to do one thing, and then do something entirely different. I know women who thought they were getting a total capsulectomy, but when they didn't get better, they went back to review their surgical report and found that their nice plastic surgeon left parts of the capsule inside their bodies and didn't tell

them! As a result, they ended up going in for a second surgery to remove the remaining capsule pieces with a different doctor. I know one of the women then instigated a lawsuit against the original plastic surgeon. It is not a nice prospect, but unfortunately, it does happen. I guess plastic surgeons think that we will never know the difference. And alot of the time, they are right, if we don't check up on the reports they are obligated to file. The only way you can know for sure is to get a copy of that report and look it over. I also highly recommend that everyone create a 3 ring binder where you can keep copies of every medical record you ask for. I usually ask for a copy after every appointment. You would be suprised what doctors write in your records. The 3 ring binder keeps everything in chronological order, and you can see

your progress of healing and have your statistics regarding tests at your fingertips. I've often referred to mine. Just wanted to make that suggestion again.
