Guest guest
Hello there ladies, I have met with Dr. Kolb in December and I am considering having her do my explant. However I have also seen someone not on the list closer to my home here in Virgina. I'm having a difficult time with making a decision. The man Dr, Schnars I really liked his bedside manner and he is a reconstuctive dr. with impressive work. He noted a few things though that I was wondering if anyone has more info or experience with. I know how everyone here is stressing the enbloc method and I do understand the importance of this so that no contents leak into the cavity. However Dr. Schnars mentioned that there may be some risk in this and nerve damage and mentioned that if the implant was deflated into the tube from the valve that is locks in placeit will not leak. He actually showed how it hooks up onto an full implant with the tube and I pushed on it and sqweezed it and nothing come out from the valve. So my question to anyone who may have some info here to share is how sure are we or is there any info out there stating that if the implant is deflated with the valve that there will be leakage. Is this enbloc more important in silicone cases verses saline. I'm just really confused because when I pushed hard on the valvle no Saline came out. So if this method deflating the saline in the implants did not leak then should I risk nearve damage. Dr. Kolb said that there is not risk of nerve damage, but Dr. Schnars says that there may be some risk due to the that fact that the implant is large and must go throug a tiny hole. The other thing I'm wondering is there any info on if a small amout of capsule is left because it may be difficult to get it all will the body absorb this. How sure are we that all of the capsule can be removed. I ask all these questions because I'mn having a difficult time deciding what doctor to choose. I know doc. Kold knows her stuff, but she is twice as much as Dr. Schnars and alot farther from me. Not that would stop me from choosing her if I felt like the enbloc method should be the only way to remove the saline, but after I saw and what I did, it got me wondering if it was not leaking then why would I risk the chance of nerve damage. And if Dr. schnars could do this by deflating it into the tube without spilling into cavity then should I pay the price of an enbloc procedure which looks to be more risky. Dr. schnars explanted that silcone gel implant do not have a valve like saline and they have to be remove enbloc where as with saline the vavle hook air tight to the tubing and the contents can be emptied with out leaking. I know some of you have used Dr. Kolb...if you could also respond to my email. (I have spoke to two of you Jenna one of them about Dr. Kolb.) Thanks so much.
