Guest guest
Stormy I just want to tell you that the 'drug addict' thing is in my family, too. Matter of fact, many of my docs believe it, too, of course. I feel like wearing a big sign around my neck that says...I AM NOT A DRUG ADDICT...and hopefully we could get past that right away. lol Too bad, that wouldn't work. It's too simple. lol Well, keep trucking through this, and posting often helps. Welcome! Jodie

Guest guest
Donnie, I thought that docs only treated younger poeple like this, because of the stereotype that people my age (20's) have helped to establish. I have a terrible time trying to get anything to help ease my pain from Endometriosis. All the doctors i have seen, including the one who did my failed surgery do not feel comfortable prescribing pain killers long term to someone my age, because young people are the typical ones who abuse them. I have gone to the ER, only to be turned away in tears being called a drug addict. I see a pain management doc who will prescribe me very week narcotics, thinking my pain is minimal or all in my head, i'm not sure which he thinks. It sucks for us all but good to know i'm not alone Keri > > hi jodie i wish i had a dollar for every time my wife called me a drug addic i could take a nice vacathion she dose not do it nomore we are not drug addics we have to take the drugs for are pain that is the diferance ares is perscribed my a docter a drug addicgo,s and bys it on the street when you have to take a narcotic like we do we are dependent on it we have no choice that is how a narcotic is but we are not drug addics donnie > > > > DRUG ADDICTION > > > Stormy > > I just want to tell you that the 'drug addict' thing is in my family, > too. Guest guest
I had endometriosis really bad....that is some kind of rightious pain!! I just wonder if I'm the only one that has ever had the implants surgically removed. I had to have a uteran suspension and presacral neurectomy and he removed the implants while in there. I'm sure there is far less intrusive ways to remove the endometriosis implants like thru those little holes now...zap them. I remember the wonder and absolute heaven it was after those things were removed. I see a lot of folks with it but never hear people getting them removed. Has that option ever been mentioned? One of the pain medications used in " those days " ...(for us over 60) they used a medication with " speed " ...and it worked against the endometriosis. Stopped those horrible cramps. It was a mixture of like aspirin/tylenol with amphetamines. You got rid of the cramps and you jumped up and cleaned the whole damned house and ready to do the neighbors house as well. I don't think they use those anymore. The abusers really stopped that. Can't really remember the name of the drugs...edrasol or something like that..can't find it online. Daprasol another..spelling not sure. Oh well....was just wondering. Guest guest
When I had endometriosis years ago they gave me a drug called Danazol (spelling?) I'm thinking it had a male hormone in it. Anyway, it worked really well. I don't know if that drug is even on the market anymore. Guest guest
Jodie, My husband recently told me there is no difference between dependence and addiction. I love him, but sometimes...... LOL Chelle
Guest guest
Keri, You are so not alone. The pain management nurse told me that I was too " young " to go " down the road " of narcotics. I'm 44. Sheesh. These people need to live in our bodies for one damned day. I'm weaning off the soma and sure enough, the shoulder pain is coming back. I know I won't get another prescription so I have to wean off of it. I go see my primary care in September and I'm going to casually ask her to refill my prescriptions and see if she will do it. If not, I'm going to ask her what she would suggest instead of the only mucle relaxer that helps me. It's not even a narcotic! We're right there with you. There are a lot of us who have doctors who won't give us narcotics. I think they're just scared for themselves. Nice, huh? Chelle
