Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Good to hear from you again, and sorry you're having these issues. I think some of the doctors here are listed because someone used them, and had good results, and perhaps the doctor performed the en bloc procedure. I don't think all the doctors listed believe implants make us sick. Perhaps you should place a call to Dr. Kolb or e-mail her. She takes the time to speak with women who are having problems, and she's seen alot of this so she really is an expert. Her office is also quite good at getting some health plans to cover explant, or at least a portion of it. I don't think she herself is on most plans, but I believe her surgical facility is. Dr. Feng in Ohio and Dr. Melmed in Texas are also doctors who believe implants make us sick. I've seen many women posting about hair loss after getting implants, along with muscle twitches, and I've personally had the other symptoms that you mention. I'm glad that you've found relief for some of your problems, but honestly you probably won't be able to alleviate all of the problems while the implants are still in your body. I didn't worry much about what my body would look like after explant, although it looks pretty good, I worried about how I felt, which was much more important to me. Guest guest
Absolutely women are having hair loss issues after getting breast implants. For some women, it is their most troubling symptom. In fact, we have photos in our photo file on the website from a woman who had very visible bald spots on her head from the excessive hair loss. There is also a website for breast implants and hair loss. I guess if there is a whole website dedicated to this issue, then it must be a problem! http://www.pharmahg.co.uk/f173breast/discfem173_toc.htm I was doing some research and found something that might be telling. I noticed that symptoms of excessive levels of minerals in the body, such as selenium, include hair loss. Would it be a stretch to think that excessive silicone could do the same thing? Maybe not. By the way, we had a recent discussion about the differences between silica and silicone. You may want to review that discussion. But we really don't know why women are losing hair after getting breast implants. It could be many things, either individually, or all wrapped up into one ugly package: 1) Stress 2) Hormonal imbalances 3) Hypothyroidism 4) Mineral imbalances 4) Heavy metal toxicity 5) Autoimmunity I hope you can find answers to your situation. I know one for sure...that the implants need to come out. That will set things back on a path toward balance and healing. One woman stated that a homeopathic remedy helped her immensely. Surprisingly, it is based on silica, called silicea. You may want to give that a shot. Here's a link to check it out: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_g2603/is_0006/ai_2603000663 Patty > > Hi everyone, > > It's been a while since I was on the site, trying to sort > everything out. Guest guest
By the way, before you run out and buy the silicea homeopathic with your implants in your body, read this precaution! Precautions Homeopaths recommend that anyone with implants or artificial body components avoid silica because of its tendency to cause foreign materials to be expelled from the body. So, please use this for hair loss AFTER you have been explanted! Patty > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > It's been a while since I was on the site, trying to sort > > everything out. Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad to hear that your symptoms are getting better. I was just reading about the conversations everyone had here on silca. I just started talking it a few weeks ago thinking it will help my hair and now I wonder if it made it worse. Do you still follow the makers diet? What are the supplements and herbs you take? All the info here helps a lot, Lynn > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > It's been a while since I was on the site, trying to sort > > everything out. Guest guest
Hi Sis, It's nice to hear from you, I have spoken to Dr. Kolb and she told me she would take them out. The problem is that my insurance is an HMO and I can't go to her. I don't have the money to do it on my own so I have to go with someone on the plan. Dr. Copeland said she would do it for me but she was convincing me that she did research and felt it was not the implants making me sick. So it just put some doubt in my mind. At this point though the doubt is gone and I know I have to do it. I did not have time to read through much of the posts so I hope your feeling okay. Take care, Lynn > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > It's been a while since I was on the site, trying to sort > > everything out. Guest guest
Lynn, If Dr. Copeland does the en bloc procedure, and the insurance will cover your surgery, it sounds like that's your best option. So many of us have the same symptoms, it just can't be a coincidence. I know I went back and forth at first, one day I'd be convinced it wasn't the implants, and then the next I was certain. I went back and forth like that until about a month before my explant, and then I just knew I had to get them out. Keep us posted, Sis > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > It's been a while since I was on the site, trying to sort > > > everything out. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I too had several people around me telling me that my implants were not making me sick or they would ask me if I was sure about my findings. I went to lots of DR's. I don't know where you live, but I doctored at the renound Mayo Clinic and still doctor there. I got my implants in 2000 and my health took a huge dive about a year ago. I really puzzled the doctors. I found the information about implants in January and had my implants removed March 1st by Dr Feng. My family physcian along with a few other doctors feel that there may be a lot of truth about implants causing illness. said something that made a lot of sense. She brought up how some people have allergies to latex. Have you ever gone to the doctor and been asked if you have this allergy? There aren't A LOT of people that do have the allergy, but the ones that do get VERY ill that is why they ask. I feel the same way about implants. I know that there are people out there that have implants and maybe are fine. I wasn't so lucky, but I feel truely blessed to have found the information about implants making woman sick. I feel extra blessed to have this saline support group. At first I really wanted to believe that my implants weren't making me sick, but it just made too much sense. Nothing else made any sense, like why at the age of 30 I was so ill. I remember the PS that put in my implants had me sign a release before I had my surgery -- it was something that discussed the ill effects of implants like auto immune diseases. I was told that it was because of the scare of the silicone gel implants, but those were safe and it was only a few woman that brought on the lawsuit that took them off the market. I now cry when I read the stories of all the many many woman who's lives were ruined from implants. How sad!! I wish I could tell you what tomorrow will bring and if taking out your implants will make you happy. Myself I knew after finding out all the information about the ill effects of implants that I no longer wanted to have them. Hind sight is 20/20. I loved having a nice figure, but to me having my health means much much more. It has been and is hard adjusting to my new figure, but I am adjusting. It is amazing what us woman are capable of accomplishing once we set our minds to doing something. I wish you all the best.
