Guest guest
Hi All, Jodie here, Well I had my visit with the neurosurgeon who is doing my p.p. surgery today. I am happy to announce that my surgery is next Tuesday. It was such a relief.......and then the not-so-good news......(that was quick) He said that he will help my back, but not so much my neck, which is the worse--of course. He also told me that he recommends an MRI each year of that neck area. *I am fused w/metal from C-2 through C-7. That is alot. I had to do this so I wouldn't become paralized*. When the C-1 (where I having problems) compomised the spinal cord, it's time for surgery again. This will be a bad one--because I will not longer be able to move my neck in directions. So basically, I learned, after 22 years, that my problems are very complex and that a p.p. isn't that answer to all of them, maybe 1/2 of them. Better than nothing. You know, the bottom line is that I have all these surgeries to keep me from becoming a quad, but I still have a lot of pain. Who says that that is the best way to go? Maybe I'd rather to be out of pain, but I don't know if that is true (no pain). Donnie, if you are thinking of a p.p, get going, because it takes a long time to get through everything. Guest guest
Tommie, Yes, THANK GOD! I made it before the end of my insurance. I might even get a refill in before the end. At least I have medicare as a secondary for now. I'm in so much pain today--waiting for a call from my pain doc's office. Ask them if I could take extra medicine. So far, It has been 4.5 hrs. I wish they would hurry. I don't want to go to the ER again--they love me sooooooooooooo much there. Can't really type much now--too much hurt. Jodie > > Hi Jodie, > > That is great that it's happening so fast. I am shocked. I figured it was going to be long and drawn out like it was for you to get the trial done. Will this now be done before your insurance changes? Did you beat the deadline? I sure hope so. I can't remember the dead line. > > Congrats, I'm glad that you are getting it so fast, but very sorry it won't take care of the neck pain too At least he'll keep a watchful eye on your neck and catch it when it's time for the next surgery so you don't become paralyzed. That would just really stink if you did, but I wouldn't love ya any less > > I hope you have a great evening and keep us posted on everything. > Hugs, > Tommie > PAIN PUMP UPDATE > > > Hi All, Jodie here, > > Well I had my visit with the neurosurgeon who is doing my p.p. surgery > today. Guest guest
Jodie, Maybe you should call again???? 4.5 hours is a LONG time when you're in pain! I would be tempted to just take it and probably wouldn't wait. There's nothing worse than being in pain and feeling like absolutely nobody understands or cares. Sorry you're hurting so bad today. Guest guest
That would be soooooooooooo neat. I've seen a doc or two in a pain group. It's neat to show them what it really is all about. I think interns should be made to check some of the out. I see him on the 24th and I'm going to invite him to join this group!! Even if he never speaks here, he needs to read some of the posts. Wish me luck!! Tommie Re: PAIN PUMP UPDATE Wouldn't you just love to get these people to walk in our shoes for ten minutes????? They wouldn't be so quick to say you have to wait and be patient. AAARRRGGGHHH! !!! These doctors and nurses make me so MAD!!!!! How are we supposed to live with pain like that when there are drugs that can make it doable? There has got to be better information gotten out to the public, and more particularly to the doctors and the DEA and whoever else regulates these drugs. If we can get the book together (and I'm really not nagging so don't take it that way), I'm hoping that it will get some attention from the talk show circuit. That's a really good way to get information to the places it needs to be. And we need to get the laws changed about how these drugs are prescribed. You know, they'll prescribe the powerful drugs for people who are dying to take at will. Do they do that because it doesn't matter if they're " addicted " because they're going to die????? Can you tell this really pisses me off? You were taking those drugs that way because you NEEDED them, not because you wanted to get high, for God's sake! Sheesh. Guest guest
Chelle, I see him on the 24th and that's when I'm going to ask. I'll let you know what he says. I'm writing down the link to the group and take it with me. He can then give it out to his patients and join himself And before I leave, I'll comment " see ya at the group " lol Tommie Re: PAIN PUMP UPDATE Tommie, I think it would be fantastic to have a doctor reading about what we are going through. I'd love to tell him right now about my 10+ neck pain after my visit to the chiropractor today and how crappy I feel because I had to stop the zyprexa! Guest guest
that is exactly what we need. New doctors that have study this and throughly understand what we have to go through even to type here. Tommie wrote: > > Chelle, > > I see him on the 24th and that's when I'm going to ask. Guest guest
This is so true . I encourage each of you to invite your doc to be a member of our group. Hey it never hurts to ask. Tell them to give you their email address and you'll send them an invite. Sure can't get any easier than that, right? That's what I'm going to do, come to think of it, I'm going to ask for his email address so I can send him an invite! He will have no reason to say no then. There'll be nothing much for him to do except click on " join this group " and put in his info, which can be very little!! ~Tommie~ www.myspace.com/tommiejj PH, CFS, FMS, Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, Restless Leg Syndrome Don't waste energy second-guessing what you're missing or what can go awry.
