Guest guest
My son ate a lot and had poor weight. We had GI issues to work on, reflux and gastritis. He had yeast, he needed enzymes and has truly malabsorption problems. In this board L carnitine has helped with growth, enzymes, and GI medicines. hope this helps, Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
He has always had chronic loose bowel movements. Off and on we have had some solid. They are mostly yellowish brown. He had a +1 for yeast on his comprehensive stool analysis. We do gf/cf and avoid many food allergens. He takes probiotics(FiveLac) and an enzyme from my local health food store. He takes slippery elm to soothe the digestive tract. I feel like the only thing I haven't tried would be thr SCD diet. I am going to order the book today. Maybe that is our missing link. He also takes amphotericin/valtrex. Subject: Re: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
Thank you. I ordered the SCD diet and a cookbook off Amazon last night. I also went back to my sons IGG allergen test and double checked those foods. There are still a few low reactivity foods he eats that I plan to take away for a bit to see if that helps. Also I ordered TriEnza from Houston Enzymes. We had done the chewables in the past, but I do not think those will be SCD legal. I also ordered Kirkmans Cod liver oil to replace our Nordic Naturals due to the soybean oil in it. Do you allow your child to eat fruit on the diet? Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
My son does have all three. What do we do for parasites?!?!Sent from my iPhone You might consider the possibility of parasites. The combination of eating a lot and not gaining makes me think of this. Does your child have an itch anal area? What about grinding of the teeth? What about worse behavior around the full moon? Those are some symptoms I have read about. Guest guest
i know you've already received a lot of responses on this, but i wanted to tell you our experience. our son was a GREAT eater - would eat large quantities of food. but sometime after he hit 18-24 mos., he quit gaining weight. it took us almost a year to notice it and when when we questioned it, his doctors told us it's fine aqnd typical for toddlers. but i don't think it's normal for a 2 year old to eat an adult size plate at a mexican restaurant and not gain weight. he did grow in height, but maybe an inch or or so over a year. his shoe size barely increased as well. the first time we met with our DAN (back in May) he put us on SCD immediately. we did it for four months and our boy gained 4 lbs. and grew 2 inches in that time. it was a hard diet, and he was severely self-limiting his food, so we went back to only GFCFSF - that was a HUGE mistake. he completely crashed and quit gaining weight again, massive out of control yeast flare, gut issues are out of control. i think we did SCD just long enough to just begin reaping the benefits and then we quit. we're now back on SCD, but at this point, we are going through the intake process at the Thoughtful House to meet with the GI doctor, Dr. Krigsman. i really wish we would have stuck with it the first time around - i think for kids that have really bad gut issues, it is a very valuable diet. we are also eagerly awaiting the results of our parasitology test. good luck with SCD - it is hard, but the benefits can be huge. don't forget to check out www.pecanbread.com and there is also a yahoo group for pecan bread that can be very helpful. also the book " we band of mothers " is a book about recovery through SCD (and biomed). www.SCDrecipes.com has some great recipes. jennie > > My son has recently been eating all the time. Guest guest
My son doesn't have parasites, so I " m not too familiar with treatment. I know there are things that the DAN doctors can do, but if you're open to homeopathy, there's a woman ( ) at Homeopathy Center of Houston (they take phone consults) who is an expert at treating for parasites. I wish you good health.

Guest guest
our son would eat more then that, we decided to test him one day at age 3 to see how much he would eat if we didn't stop him. (hadn't grown or gained in over a year) he had I think it was 3-5 pork chops, 7 WHOLE squashes and 3 potatoes, at that point we stopped. he never got full, and keep asking for more.....and never gained weight. we found out he was lacking in enzymes to break down carbs and sugars, protien and fats., we put him on enzymes ect......it took getting rid of yeast to change things Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: Excessive eating? He eats all the time, but does not seem to gain weight i know you've already received a lot of responses on this, but i wanted to tell you our experience. our son was a GREAT eater - would eat large quantities of food. but sometime after he hit 18-24 mos., he quit gaining weight. it took us almost a year to notice it and when when we questioned it, his doctors told us it's fine aqnd typical for toddlers. but i don't think it's normal for a 2 year old to eat an adult size plate at a mexican restaurant and not gain weight. he did grow in height, but maybe an inch or or so over a year. his shoe size barely increased as well.the first time we met with our DAN (back in May) he put us on SCD immediately. we did it for four months and our boy gained 4 lbs. and grew 2 inches in that time. it was a hard diet, and he was severely self-limiting his food, so we went back to only GFCFSF - that was a HUGE mistake. he completely crashed and quit gaining weight again, massive out of control yeast flare, gut issues are out of control. i think we did SCD just long enough to just begin reaping the benefits and then we quit. we're now back on SCD, but at this point, we are going through the intake process at the Thoughtful House to meet with the GI doctor, Dr. Krigsman. i really wish we would have stuck with it the first time around - i think for kids that have really bad gut issues, it is a very valuable diet. we are also eagerly awaiting the results of our parasitology test. good luck with SCD - it is hard, but the benefits can be huge. don't forget to check out www.pecanbread.com and there is also a yahoo group for pecan bread that can be very helpful. also the book "we band of mothers" is a book about recovery through SCD (and biomed). www.SCDrecipes.com has some great recipes.jennie>> My son has recently been eating all the time. Guest guest
The bad bacteria were: Citrobacter freundii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. We have not had a second stool sample sent out to evaluate if it helped yet. From: <rickjuliarusso@ comcast.net>Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
You might consider the Metametrix stool test which is more sensitive to finding parasites because of its testing method.
Guest guest
Pseudomonas is +4 for my daughter, which is what she was prescribed the cipro for. Have you noticed any behavioral differences good or bad since the cipro?? One of my daughter's problems are excessive stomach aches that I still don't know the culprit for and am suspecting are from the bacteria. Just curious of others' battle with this particular bacteria From: <rickjuliarusso@ comcast.net>Subject: Re: Excessive eating?
