i use a ceiling track hoist which i find great. i have a sling around me,

and you can get ones that support your head. the track on my bathroom

ceiling goes from the toilet to the bath, so once the sling is on me i can

go from my chair to the toilet, and then from the toilet straight into the

bath. i know some people who have a bathroom adjoining their bedroom and so

once the sling is under them can go from bed to toilet to bath and then into

their chair.

Lift

> My lovely nursing agency informed us today that we HAVE TO purchase a lift

to pick my heavy 53.2lb self up. Let me just say dat I’ve been w/ dis

agency for almost 2 yrs, and I weighed appox 56lb when I started w/ dem.

Well the story is, I hired this 25 yr old who wanted to smoke while on my

shift, I SPECEFICALLY told this nurse dat the smell of smoke bothered me!

Needless to say, she didn’t work out bc she was lazy and a habitual liar.

So then she tells da agency how I have to get a tub bath everyday, which was

a problem for her bc she can’t get me in and out of da tub. So now after

all this time, I have to get a lift. Can these things support my neck?

Hi s,

My son Danny (20 with sma2) has used a Hoyer Lift for years with a

Hoyer sling. The lift he uses is the Hoyer Hydraulic Lift (Model C-

HLA-2) and the Sling is a Padded U Sling Head Support. You can go to

www.sunrisemedical.com to check em out. Danny has to have his

head/neck supported and this sling works great for him. Also, the

padded back is firm enough so that his back doesn't twist or bend

uncomfortably. We like the hoyer lift instead of a ceiling track cuz

it fits our lifestyle better...we take the hoyer lift on vacations,

to our beach house, etc. He has a hospital bed and found that

raising the head to a slightly reclined position works well when

using the sling/lift into and out of his wheelchair. Down side is I

don't know if this lift really works for baths cuz we have a roll-in

shower with reclining shower chair. Guess the type you need depends

on if you travel and what you need it for.

Take care,

I only need it for da lazy ass NURSES! The agency says it's for workmans comp

reasons, but I know a lot of nurses will claim workmans comp for like petty

stuff. For instance, I accidently ran over my nurses toe w/ my electric chair,

and she was saying she was gonna claim workmans comp, WHAT A JOKE!

Yes, it helps. Pshew, I was doing them correctly. I'm glad I have

not been doing them wrong. I get to measure on Tuesday to see what

my results are after a week. Oh boy!

Thanks again!!!
