We use 500mg 2 x daily (1000mg total) for my 42 lbs, 5 yo son. --penumbra > > hi.. all... I am Lia.. my son Christos is age 17 and pdd/nos with hyperlexia. I have herpes simplex 1 and have to be on valtrex for the rest of my life due to ocular herpes.. one occurance? 4 years ago. Prior to that... no outbreaks from teens(cold sore on lip , one time) and laying dormant until age 40 where the next outbreak was on the top of my nose. My son... had mystery rashes on and off since being exposed to chicken pox at age 5 months.. but broke out 6 weeks later... to something that looked like a roseola.. that? faded away.. he was to break out from this on and off until age 5ish. He got the chicken pox at age 12... I am tempted to give my son my valtrex... but want to talk to his psychiatrist about starting him.. on.. to see what happens... Dr. McCAndless recommended I test him for Herpes 6?? any advice... ideas... studies I can have his doctor read would be appreciated... thanks..
