Guest guest
GMC, I think Dr. Kolb suggests Diflucan for the anti-fungal. If your implants have fungus in them and are circulating it throughout your body, the Diflucan is supposed to help. I've taken it before for a yeast infection and it works quite well. Guest guest
Garden of Life's Fungal Defense is non-prescription - and very good! . . . Take one bottle, followed by Primal Defense indefinitely . . . Prescription anti-fungals run the risk of liver damage because the die-off of fungal organism is toxic. Garden of Life's products are more gentle and (IMHO) safer. Guest guest
Actually I believe it was Diflucan that put me into an early menopause. I know it doesn't do this to everyone and isn't listed as a side effect, but we all know how that goes. I was having normal periods when suddenly I got a yeast infection. I used Diflucan, then skipped a period (wasn't normal for me). Then I got another yeast infection, took Diflucan, skipped periods for 6 months. Came back, got another yeast infection, took Monostat instead (turns out it's the same type of medicine), and again went into a nuclear winter. I went on the pill to replace hormones, and was ok with that until implant surgery, and then I had to go off of it because it seemed to aggrivate all my symptoms. Guest guest
Hi Sis Dr. Leu tested me for candida through stool culture. Right in the lab they try different drugs so that they know beforehand which ones work, instead of trying them on you. He gave me a choice of specific prescription or a natural rememdies that already were already shown to work on my particular strain, and I went with the natural. When I am done the course, I will get retested to see if it worked. I had some herx symptomes a few days into the treatment, so I think it probably is working. I am learning that the yeast can proliferate moreso in women who have immune dysfunction, and can cause a lot of symptoms we all have, chronic inflammation, sinus problems etc. It can also cause leaky gut, which also causes chronic inflammation and allergy responses to a lot of foods and chemical sensitivities too. Have you been tested for it recently? Hope this spring is helping you! Guest guest
I'm not so sure Diflucan was directly to blame for your hormone problems . . . Implants cause havoc with hormones . . . wittness the problems so many women have getting pregnant or carrying a baby after breast implants. . . It all gets very complicated. I'm not sure if anyone understands what's going on. . . If they did, I'm sure breast implants would be pulled from the market! In the meantime, it's wonderful that women can come here and share their experiences! . . . Maybe one day this will lead to an understanding of what's going on! One problem I see is that herxing can get confused with real problems . . . trying to figure it out can be mind-bending! . . . It's trial and error . . . to be approached carefully until you understand how your body is reacting. I like the description of " nuclear winter " . . . that's what I felt like on the post-surgery cancer medication! . . . Awful! Guest guest
Hey Cherie, I just sent out a test called an " OAT Test " which is an Organic Acid Test, and it apparently also checks for candida. I'm sure I've got that, I've had problems with yeast infections for years. I had to hold off on sending the OAT Test out because it cost $220 and I had to wait a few paychecks before I sent it out. I had 11 tubes of blood taken a few weeks ago, and the naturopath didn't want to meet with me to discuss the results until I sent the OAT test out. So, hopefully within the next few days I'll get the results. I have been feeling better for the most part, but it seems towards the end of the workweek I start getting achy. Seems like I generally feel better when it's warmer, and not quite as good on the cooler days. I guess by Friday my body has had enough, too. Only one more week of school and then the week after that is final exams. I'm doing very well in my classes even though I no longer attend in person. The math teacher was nice enough to meet with me one night a week after work to go over what he taught in class. He told me I got 110% in the exam I just took last week. He added extra credit for some of the questions and it certainly worked in my favor. For Accounting, I just get copies of the class notes and homework assignments and do it on my own. The other two classes I've already wrapped up and got an A on them. I think I told you I made the Deans List, so this Sunday I'll be attending an induction ceremony into the International Honor Society. It looks good on the resume, and I worked hard for it, so I'm proud of that. Talk to you soon, Sis > > > > > > > > > > Guess you have to have an RX for this > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I had the hormone problems long before I got the implants. I went into the nuclear winter five years ago, and got implants one year ago (coming up on May 10th, what a year this has been). Anyway, the implants certainly did not help matters. Guest guest
Hi Sis - congratulations on the Honors society! I just can't fathom all you do - despite your health. I'm glad the doc is running so many tests, and hopefully find what will help you. I went out to dinner Sunday night, and despite the fact that I ate salad and chicken, it wasn't organic and I felt it. Doing okay again now, though exhausted tonite - unfortunately, it's not until my body screams with fatigue that I actually stop. I will be traveling to NJ on Sunday for my daughter's competition - May's Landing, which I know is not near you. This will be the first competition that I actually feel good. Let me know when you get your results back! Guest guest
Congrats sis! I am amazed at how well you are able to carry on when you aren't feeling up to par. I kind of feel like a real baby compared to you! When I don't feel good I find it hard to do anything that isn't absolutely necessary. I need to work on that! Actually I am and am making some progress. Guest guest
Kathy, You know what I found, that doing things was a great distraction. When I first got sick, I didn't feel comfortable going anywhere, I just wanted the safety of my home. However, when I enrolled in school I found that it was a great escape. Now I'm at work full- time and I feel the same way, when I'm busy and distracted, I'm not focusing on my aches and pains. It seems to have worked wonders, too. I think because the stress and worry regarding a job and income are no longer on the table, it's helping my body to heal. Sis > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Guess you have to have an RX for this > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Sis You are so right! I am beginning to find that too. I guess I just got to used to focusing on my illness instead of the world around me. I just got a job on friday that will help me ease back into making commitments and keeping them. It will be very flexible and can be done from home, but for me, it is a good start! I definitely find that while I initially dread days that I am committed to something, once I get involved, like you said you become distracted from your pain and actually feel good about your accomplishments! Guest guest
Thanks, Rogene. Your message came at a great time - I was having one of those days where I was feeling as if I'm never going to be well again, and your message really lifted me up. Sometimes I take for granted that I accomplished alot during the absolute worst time of my life. Sis > > Sis! . . . I can't tell you how thrilled I am for > you! . . . Dean's lists and A's!!! . . . . Guest guest
Sis, I have absolutely no doubt you're going to make it! Health-wise, career-wise and emotionally . . . You may need to slow down a bit to let your body heal some more - But you'll soon find that's more of a nusiance than anything else! You've got so much to do! Just try to keep the stress under control! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Gretchen, You can take all the anti-fungal's on the market, and none will work unless you follow the diet.. If you do all the anti-fungal's at one time, they will not work what so ever if eating a poor diet and sugar.... There is no fast way to rid yeast, if there was we all would not be on here daily talking about ways to rid candida yeast from our bodies.... Follow the diet, no cheating. I got rid of my yeast by doing this and I only took one month's worth of anti-fungal diflucan.... If I eat sugar one time it comes back.... I don't run to buy more anti-fungal's since I am broke as a convict.... I stop eating the sugar and it gets better.... I am now going to do the kefir, since that was free, I can only pray that it works.... Some have not did the protocol, followed the diet and got better.... You can sometimes take to much medicine and make yourself more crazy than you need to be.... Just be careful..... Sometimes more medicine is not the best remedy, it is diet, diet, diet and time, time, time.... That is the best remedy in some cases....... No quick fix when you are struck with sickness from these deadly devices... Hang in there and Good Luck God Bless, ~AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Gretchen, I had to take Sporanox for 4 months and be on a very strict diet before it worked. You have not given it enough time. Be sure you avoid all white starches like pasta and potatoes as well as all sugars. Guest guest
. . . I agree completely . . . We must take charge of our diet if we are to get better . . . Nobody can do it for us! . . . And, considering what you said about leaky gut, I think you're right about not doing it until the gut is healthy. . . . It's Diet, diet, diet.
