Ok I am type 11 and am wondering what is a good diet to go on to control ( tight control) plus be able to still loose weight. I have been doing the exchange list count carbs right now. Is this the healthiest diabetic diet I can be on? The doctor doesn't want me to eat any more than 5ozs of meat, which seems to satisfy me. He has also restricted my fat intake...but I have notice the carbs tend to increase my BG. So I have to walk a little longer to take care of that. >> Hi, Merry, when I became diabetic my RDD put me on low-carb diet and I lost weight on that. It has also brought bgs down tho not enough and now I'm doing insulin and low carb too. Later I read Bernstein which clarified things. Thank goodness I didn't have to do exchange list -- that's always confused my poor brain. Vicki in Portland, Or.
