Christene . . .

Not everyone is sensitive to silicone - I'm very

concerned that those of us who have had breast

implants aren't going to be able to tolerate other

life, or function, saving implants as we age.

Why nobody is studying this issue, I can't imagine . .

.. Everything seems to be about the " Now " without

making allowances for the future.

I know that I'm going to need cataract surgery at some

time . . . The lens they usually use is silicone . . .

there are others, but I doubt that they test anyone to

see if they are sensitive to those materials . . .

And, even if you aren't initially, what if you become

sensitive over time?

IMHO, the contraceptive device is probably safe for

most women. (It was called a diaphragm years ago) . .

.. However, I think it would be best to put it in when

it's needed and not wear it all the time.

Hugs,

Rogene

But Rogene....While I hear what you're saying I just feel like by having the FDA yet again "endorse" another silicone product it's just another reason for them as a whole to put the silicone issue on the back burner all together.

And I also just have to say that I'm surprised....I realize that not every one has a sensitivity to silicone. Nonetheless, the problem exists and continues to grow and manifest itself in many different ways. I cringe at the thought of any woman ending up with cervical cancer because she used the diaphragm with silicone....and what about the woman who ends up not being able to conceive a child or worse yet finds out she can't carry a child because of cervical incompetence secondary to the silicone device? I think it just brings on another set of problems for women that we don't need. Did any of us really know these things would happens to us because of the silicone implants? No, and I venture to say it will be the same with the use of this cap. And really, isn't it our obligation to warn other women about thne use of silicone in our bodies? So what if it's not in for an extended period of time....it's also a completely different area of the body that leads to other places.

I feel like somebody didn't do enough research on this to make any type of conclusive decision based on long term effects...

I'm just concerned is all. When will it stop?

Christene,

I understand, I really do . . .

The experience we've been through makes us skeptical

of everything and everybody related to the medical

professions! . . . I fight those feelings every time I

see a doctor! Yet I know that there are aspects of

modern medicine that save life - and quality of life -

for millions every day.

I'm not happy with a diaphragm being made of silicone

.. . . but then, when you figure an IUD may be

silicone, that birth control pills are messing with

ones hormones, condoms are usually latex, watching the

calender is risky, and morning after pills aren't

acceptable to most, what's left? Having a bunch of

kids when one can't afford to raise them? Not a good

option either!

I'm all for keeping the pressure on for truly safe

options . . . But I'm afraid that, for the time being,

we have to make a personal decision about which method

carries the least risk. At least with a diaphragm or

condom, it can be removed when not in use . . . You

can't say that for an IUD or birth control pills.

Hugs,

Rogene

I guess I just think this way because I've already been witness to so many births to parents that most probably should not have been parents, but then had she used a silicone diaphragm, would she of ever been able to have a child? It's a double-edged sword for us.....but even aside of the child birth issue itself, the fact remains that FDA continues to put such a harmful substance in the paths of women. It's like they are saying silicone is safe all the way around. Think of it like this..."Geez, if silicone is safe to place up against my cervix then silicone must be safe to be used for breast implants....because otherwise the FDA wouldn't have approved it for use." And quite honestly, until my own experience with silicone, that's exactly what I would have thought. But I guess in my mind, the bottom line is...

Plastic surgery is okay, it's putting these devices (including collagen) in our bodies that isn't okay.

These are things that are not meant to be there. We could argue the same point with antibiotics, and all meds, but at least with those they are filtered out and excreted from our bodies after doing the necessary job....I guess I just think differently than everyone else. But I carry with me the frustrations of all of these ladies and I just wish there was a way that I could take it all away. I want to take your cancer away from you Rogene, I want 's pain, I want Lea's frustration, I want Sis's pain of losing her marriage, I want everybody's financial worries of how they are going to pay for the removal, I want to take all of this from everybody, but I can't and that just kills me on the inside. But what I can do is open my big fat trap and help spread the word and hope that nobody else has to experience any this. So really I guess I'm just bitter, and to see the celebration of more silicone put on the marketfor unsuspecting women to use makes me ill. I know there is various methods of birth control, each with it's own risks, but then it's all about abstinence!

I understand your frustration. I get frustrated about alot but i know now i cant help everyone.I wish i could or wish i could wake people up .But we sometime can give info and hope it plants a seed.

THis is no was to upset anyone but i feel no drug is safe. There are safe way to do everything. Natural homeopathy or herbal.Even changing foods we eat can help.

If you feel implants are not safe what do you think they put in drug chemicals. They just hide the problem. They never cure.Did you know that probiotics primal defense can help even people with aids. So that tells me that this can help anybody with any disease. There even saying cod liver and omega 3 are taking care of depression, pain, brain problems it helps alot of things. We need to feed are brain. But i know eating right is a must to. I know we all will do are own thing but do you think the drug industry care about us.No it all about the money again.Dow even makes alot of drug to.

One thing ive been doing raw apple cider vinegar and i have no more brain fog. It amazing. My grandma said that is what they used for everything back in the days and herbal and cod liver .They used peppermint for everything to. You think they ran out to the drug store for cough medicine no cod liver and used peppermint or tea tree or other oils. They used garlic, oregano oil, olive oil and many more natural things from the earth.God gave us so many great things but we dont use them.

What did they use back in jesus days? Oils herbs, all natural things. Hygiene was a must. They ate healthy but the ones that didnt do all this got sick. I know alot of things have changed in this day and age. World world 2 is when the industry thought hmm we can make more money by making things and selling it but didnt care what was in it. It saddens me .I know im not that old 33 but just from what ive seen in my years it sad. People look at me weird because i choose to do what i do.They call me extreme. But why do i have to be the weird one. They call me weird because im a christian and then call me extreme or weird because i believe in the natural way. I wont change no matter what.

I think we sometime think the doctors are God well there not and some are taught this way and know no better. We dont trust are self at times.I know the body heals it self over time to.We sometime what i quick fix.I know sometimes i do.But i just have to trust and be patient.I know it didnt take me over night to get like this so it wont be fix over night.Just like a fever we run for tyenol or aspirin. It harms us more. echinecea and goldenseal will bring a fever down and help the body to fight the infection. Even white willow bark will help it is aspirin but then again they have to add the chemicals to it.

Thats why so many people are sick to they dont was h there hand . Now they antibacterial in everything you think that kills the germ well yes but it kills the good to.So the body cant fight if the good is gone .Antibacterial is bad for us to.Just like antibiotics it kills the good to . garlic, oregano oil and probiotics can fight any infection. www.mercola.com/2004/mar/20/antibacterial_soaps.htm

Thanks Michele . . .

Lemon as a contraceptive is new to me - now that I

don't need it! . . .

I wish everyone knew about this! . . . I shudder to

a terrible disadvantage!

You've got some excellent weblinks!

Lea and Christene . . .

I hope I haven't upset either of you . . . I certainly

wouldn't want to! . . . I'm thrilled to hear of all

the safe options that are becoming available! . . .

A doctor at the NIH told me that, only a handful of

the chemicals being used are tested on people . . .

fewer on children, and almost none in combination with

other chemicals. He said that the illnesses our

grandparents suffered from have been pretty much

brought under control by medicine (there is some

debate there, I know), but that they haven't begun to

get a handle on what these thousands of chemicals are

doing to us!

The problem is so big, there's hardly a place to start

- except finding ways to eliminate as many chemicals

as possible from our lives.

Dear Christene,

You're right . . . you can't make things right for

everyone . . . Please don't feel that you need to! . .

.. When you feel that need, just say a prayer for that

person, and trust that God will do the rest!

As I see it, we're on life's journey to learn . . . We

have different experiences so we have opportunities to

learn. . .

I'm so glad for everyone in this group! I've learned

so much from all of you!

God Bless,

Gosh Michele, I certainly wasn't offended. We must all keep in mind that our

differences in opinions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings are exactly what we learn

from. So it is up to each of us to embrace those differences. We learn not from

failure alone. We also learn from each others triumphs! So please don't be

afraid to share...for all we know, YOU could have the answer for whatever the

question is. I applaud you for asserting yourself and your beliefs!
