Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for writing. I am glad you let us know that you were continuing your fast, as I wasn't sure how long you were going to go. I had some tea this morning and that was all, so I will continue to fast with you too. I had a headache also, and no hunger yesterday or today so far. I thought about doing a sauna, but I've got so much work to do yet....maybe I will later. Trust God to get you through the pains and give you peace about your fast. Just think about the rest your body is taking and is now able to do some deep cleaning! Visual imagery can really help sometimes when you understand what your body is doing. When I had my mercury amalgams removed, the dental assistant gently spoke to me as she gave me a Vitamin C IV, and she told me to look forward and imagine all that mercury being washed out of my body when I went to the bathroom (because it would go out in the urine). So imagine all those toxins coming out of the cells. Imagine the immune system cells escorting them out, like a policeman taking away a crook. Imagine loads of dirty garbage being dumped out. Imagine God healing with His tender touch of mercy. Imagine clean, flushed, healthy organs that are energized to do their work better. Just rest in the sense of wellbeing. Have a wonderful day! Hugs, Patty > > Good day Ladies! > > Today is day two for my fast. Last night was hard for me. I had a terrible migraine. I did resist the temptation to take a motrin. No headache today. I am not feeling any hunger pains this morning. My muscles are hurting terribly. I have a sharp pain in my right calf and in my right arm, almost like I pulled a muscle. I am wondering how I will feel tonight. I am worried that my stomach will growel during my Hospice volunteering class. I am giving that to God. I haven't spent as much time in Devotions as I would like, but I do pray each time my stomach tells me to eat something. > > Have a good day Ladies, I wish you well. > > L
Guest guest
Patty, Do you know if you herx during fasting? It hit me hard yesterday around 4 PM. By 9 PM I could barely walk. It close to how I felt a year ago, my hubby had to even help me to the bathroom. My legs hurt so bad. What do I do? Today is juicing day! L New Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
, Most definitely you can herx doing a fast. In fact, you can dump so many toxins that your body can not handle it well and you will feel horrible. Stop fasting. At the point that you become miserable, you will have gone as far as you should, and it becomes very important to back off so you can rebuild health and get stablilzed again. Let your body work on this detoxification process a little at a time and not all at once. Give your organs all the support they need to get past this herx...go light on foods, and eat life giving foods, such as salads, fruits, vegetables, and fresh fish. Don't get into anything heavy, such as meats and flour products or sugar just yet. You will definitely want protein to help build strong cells, so eat lentils, beans, peas, nuts and seeds first, and then try to add some meat back in after a few days. You can try to fast again in a few weeks. Consider fasting to be a program to help you get rid of junk in steps, over weeks and months. Please also be sure to contact your holistic practitioner if you feel very bad...it is a good idea to have supervison when doing a fast that is longer than 3 days so they can monitor your electrolytes and other markers in your blood, especially if you are really toxic. But as you add in your juices and foods, you should begin to feel better. Just remember to break your fast correctly, slowly and with wisdom. Choose your foods well. Let me know how you are feeling later today! Patty Lamse <wannabe_proverbs31@...> wrote: Patty, Do you know if you herx during fasting? It hit me hard yesterday around 4 PM. Guest guest
Just wanted to clarify what I wrote.... To break the fast, start out with light foods that are high in water content, such as steamed zucchini, or watermelon or other fruit (except citrus). You can also break it with vegetable broths, which will provide minerals if they've been prepared with fresh vegetables. Then move on to salads with lettuce, tomatoe, other cut up veggies. Then move on to soups or stews with lots of veggies. (The fresh foods restore those digestive enzymes that were taking a little break, then you can move on to cooked foods.) Slowly add back in other solid foods, including lentils, beans or peas for protein. Just wanted to clarify what I said about the proteins in my previous post. I made it sound like you should eat those first, and I didn't mean that, but rather that when you do start eating proteins, make them fibrous proteins such as those found in lentils, etc. Meat is great for protein, but it has no fiber. Guest guest
Juice fasting may have its place for digestive system cleansing, but if weight loss is your goal, maybe 12 days is too long? Is your body getting used to what you are doing, sensing starvation, and therefore digging in its heals to PREVENT you from losing weight? What would happen if you take a couple of days to give yourself the opposite nutrients - as in the infamous Fat Fast? --- In , " haecklers " <haecklers@...> wrote: > > Well, I'm 12 days into this juice fast and am disappointed. > I've completely stopped losing weight and actually went back up a pound
Guest guest
Actually, after a day of BM's (sorry folks) I think I was just purging something. Maybe I retained some water during the night. I've been in a 5-star bad mood today, which could indicate some toxins are moving because up 'till now I've been feeling pretty cheerful and good, actually more so than usual, and I'm a pretty cheerful person. I see no reason to need to eat meat after only 12 days of abstinence, the body can go up to a year with no animal products and get along pretty well. Same thing for grain products - if I'm getting some carbs from the carrots, beets, apples, and berries, I don't see why I really need to eat grains just yet. Most of what they supply can be stored for a month or more in the body. And dare I say I already contain pleny of fat my body could be using! Maybe I'll take some cod liver oil, tho. > > > > Well, I'm 12 days into this juice fast and am disappointed. > > I've completely stopped losing weight and actually went back up a > pound >

Unless she is really skinny and devoid of many nutrients, she is probably a *long* way from starvation. > What would > happen if you take a couple of days to give yourself the opposite > nutrients - as in the infamous Fat Fast? I personally don't think breaking a longer fast with a Fat Fast is a very good idea. -- " Who loves not women, wine and song remains a fool his whole life long. Guest guest
Are you drinking broth? Broth is rich in the amino acid glycine which is used in the detox of a number of substances. It may help with the toxins that are floating around. While you do want to get rid of the toxins, you don't want them to sit around in your blood making you miserable. Another amino acid that may help is taurine - it is used to detox a number of substances that glycine can't. This is one of those things in meat and fish that not everyone generates adequately on their own and if you are actively detoxing you are likely to be depleting your taurine levels so some replenishment might be necessary. A good number of the substances detoxed with taurine exit with bile - so make sure you're getting enough fat (whole milk or coconut milk) for that to work otherwise you'll be stuck eliminating mostly through urine and that can be really painful (at least in my experience with mercury and arsenic). Also, are you getting enough sodium? A juice fast is typically pretty high in potassium and you may find you need more sodium than usual to keep hydrated. Adequate salt does wonders for the adrenals which help maintain your blood pressure and blood sugar. -Lana Actually, after a day of BM's (sorry folks) I think I was just purging > something. You have done this on a longer fast? I would think that would be pretty tough since your GI essentially shuts down during a longer fast and you then rev it back up by eating. No you don't, which is why I said it depends on how you do it. The first fat fast I did was all raw using mostly avocados and fish. It worked quite well. The second one (about three years ago) I ate bacon, eggs, and cocoa candies as the highlights :-) > I'm especially interested in learning more about using coconut oil for > the MCT aspect - as an instant energy alternative to carbs. You can use oils while fasting, I'm just curious about interrupting a long fast with no oils with a fat fast that includes cooked foods and then returning to the fast. -- " Who loves not women, wine and song remains a fool his whole life long.
