Guest guest
, I forgot to mention that I am a cosmetologist and it is normal in the spring and fall to loose up to 100 hairs a day. If the hair is long it looks like more hair but it is not. R
Guest guest
, Brainchild Nutritionals has some very good liquid vitamins and minerals (www.brainchildnutritionals.com). Also, you might want to get her Thyroid checked (T3,T4,TSH bloodtest) just to be on the safe side, especially if she notices more tiredness, or excess energy, dry skin or more moist skin than normal. Hair falling out more than normal is a sign that something could be going on with her Thyroid and problems are more common with women. Thyroid problems run in our family (with almost all the women). Best wishes, Gretchen > Hi listmates, > Does any one have suggestions for what vitamin or mineral difficiency can contribute to more normal than usual hair lose? I forgot, if it is a lot of hair loss, it is called alopecia, and that type of hair loss is frequently caused by biotin deficiency. If you add biotin, be sure to add magnesium also, because biotin depletes magnesium. Dana

Guest guest
I have another hair question.... My hair has gotten very dried out and frizzy over the past few years..I would toss it up to " getting older " but my son's hair has always been like that too. (We both have food issues). Are we lacking in Mg or Zn or something? TIA, Lori Getz Re: vitamins for hair > Does any one have suggestions for what vitamin or mineral difficiency can contribute to more normal than usual hair lose? Do you use enzymes for the food issues? Dana

Guest guest
Skip the hot oil treatment. Any time you heat the hair hot enough to get a big, fat oil molecule in, it will be damaging to the hair instead of helpful. Try mayo, egg, or beer. And the other things:) a mom to > > My hair has gotten very dried out and frizzy over the past few > years..I would toss it up to " getting older " but my son's hair has > always been like that too. When I do hot oil treatments for myself, I am heating the *oil*, not my hair [except that the water is warm]. It does seem to help my hair. So you are saying that if I am not heating the *hair*, it really is not doing anything? >>Try mayo, egg, or beer. And the other things:) I will try those, and see if it works better. Guest guest
It made me wonder as well. It's the oil that is being heated, not the hair. MISSY SAHM to some special kids!!! Guest guest
I know that when you go to the hair salon and get a hot oil treatment, they usually put the oil on your hair, wrap it up and them stick you under a hair dryer or heat lamps. > > Skip the hot oil treatment. Guest guest
Putting oil on anything can make it feel slippery. Doesn't mean that it is penentrating the hair shaft and making the condition of the hair any better. The heat, whether from direct heat or heated oil, will open the cuticle of the hair, but probably just enough to fill some imbrications in the hair for a short time. And heat is usually damaging, in and of itself, to the hair anyway. Do you do them often? If you get the results you like, maybe it works for you, but your hair probably isn't in dire need of deep conditioning and lots of other conditioners or substitutions would work also. hth a mom to > > Skip the hot oil treatment. No, it is not in dire need, but it does get frizzy and unmanageable sometimes, especially now because we have " devil winds " and humidity can be less than 10%, and the hot oil helps my hair look " normal " instead of like a rats' nest LOL Thanks Dana
