Guest guest
Hi and welcome to our group, I am sorry that you have to even be with us. You are definitely not alone though, as so many thousands of women have gone through exactly what you are, with the mysterious illnesses cropping up shortly after explant, or years later. It doesn't matter if it happens 6 days or 6 years after implant though...the devastating effects are usually very much the same, and only get worse as time goes on. Your body is certainly crying for help! Congratulations on your insight into your health and your decision to get the implants out. That is a big step in the right direction. It is especially noteworthy since you have not had validation from anyone in the medical profession as of yet. Who is going to do your explant? More importantly, have you discussed with them the need for a total capsulectomy, or en bloc removal, and drains? Make sure you have covered all aspects of having a PROPER explant! This is so important! As some women have found out, if the explant is not done with the goal of removing the implant and all scar tissue, the immune system can remain in an overactive state and your health may not return in full. You can regain your health with a proper explant and that is what this group is all about. We've seen so many women get their implants out and get better....we know that it is entirely possible! But you do have to make sure you are taking the right steps toward healing. We can offer help and insight into the explant process. It really is not a very difficult surgery to get over. Most women recover very quickly, and they look great after giving their body some time to recover from surgery. Some women look even better than before implanting, so you don't have to worry. You should have every reason to expect that you are going to look good, as long as you are using a well qualified surgeon...and one who doesn't tell you that you are going to look deformed if you remove your implants. Guest guest
Donna, Wow, your story is so similar to my own. I don't know if you've seen me post my story here, but in the event you haven't, I got my implants in May of 2005 and got sick within weeks as well. It continued to get worse with each passing week, and in November of 2005 I had mine removed. I actually had two surgery dates. I cancelled the first one because my husband was my brick wall instead of my rock, and he just wouldn't accept that the implants were making me sick, and thought I was just being neurotic. As soon as I started getting sick last May, I knew it was the implants, but it took longer to convince him, and I ended up feeling like he was in control of what I did with my body. I would have had them removed a month after getting them if I could have, but since I had just charged over $6000 to a credit card, my husband was not supportive of having them removed, and he wanted to hear from a doctor that the implants were the cause. Of course as we all know, the last people to confirm that implants make us sick are doctors!! After months of getting sicker all the time, and then upon finding Dr. Feng, and actually driving myself out to Ohio without him (I called him on the way to tell him I was having them removed), he finally woke up and I had them explanted. I didn't have the explant on that trip, though, because my husband flipped out when I sprung this on him. However, when I got home, he apologized for being such an a$$ and said he would accompany me to Ohio when I could reschedule another date. So, we drove from New Jersey to Ohio a month later, in November, and I had the explant. The explant was much less painful than the implants - the first day I needed pain meds, but over the course of the next few days I barely needed any, and by the 3rd or 4th day I didn't take anything, not even Tylenol. I had my surgery on Monday, and I couldn't leave because the output of my drains was still too high, so I sent my husband home on Wednesday, staying in the hotel alone, and on Friday I rented a car and drove home. The following Monday I was back in school full-time (I'm 45 years old, but I got downsized in 2005 and was attending full-time college). I was a little sore but not bad, mostly the soreness came from the sports bra. I was a 34A/B before implants, a C after, and now I'm back to my regular size. If you want to see my pictures, they are posted here. Go to Links (at the left in the blue menu), and then just continue to pick the top link until you get to the site where the pictures are stored. The password is implants. Good luck to you, Sis > > I am so nervous I get my explant on May 17 2006. I am new here > I was just reading your stories and lookin at pics. Guest guest
Donna, I don't have much computer time right now . . . but if you'll read through the old messages and track women who come to the groups sick time after time, then watch as they get their implants out and get well, you'll have all your doubts removed! . . . It may take some time, and a lot of discipline on your part! . . . But if you're like virtually everyone here, you'll be very happy to get rid of those toxic bags and to get your life back again! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
I am also a new member and read about your symptoms. My breast implants where removed last July, because of one rupturing. However, I have been very sick also. Just been diagnosed with mgus (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance) smoldering multiple myeloma and a aquired blood disease. As for as how your breasts will look without a lift, mine where about the same prior to the implants, plus age factor. Hope this will help. Guest guest
My plastic surgeon removed them last July. I just know that I was awake and he just removed them and sewed me up and sent me home. What is your doctor going to do for you?
