Guest guest
I wish we had more than just a few plastic surgeons we could recommend wholeheartedly . . . But we don't. I fear that peer-pressure among plastic surgeons prevents all but the most strong-willed doctors from taking a stand. The names of the doctors on the recommended list are there because someone recommended him/her because they felt their experience was good and the doctor did a good job. The recommendations are not based on the doctor's personality or personal ethics! Regardless of which doctor one chooses, everyone MUST ask the doctor for confirmation that they will do the surgery they want. . . En bloc is first choice, Complete Capsulectomy is the second choice. Drains are proper in either case. That said, there are circumstances when the doctor simply cannot remove ALL the capsule. This is where trust comes in - and why we have so few doctors we can recommend. However, these few doctors simply cannot do all the explants . . . And other doctors CAN do proper explants. When one consults with a doctor for explant, one should keep in mind the doctor is working FOR YOU! You have the right to tell him/her what YOU WANT. If you have the slightest feeling that the doctor isn't taking your desires seriously, or will do the job right, LEAVE! From what we've heard here, the favorite lines the plastic surgeons use is: Your implants aren't making you sick. Breast implants are safe. You won't get better if you're explanted. You will be depressed if you're explanted. You'll be deformed without your implants. You can refute all but the last statement. If a doctor says you'll be deformed, know that he/she is commenting on their own skill, and run! My dream is that, one day, ALL doctors will understand the illnesses related to breast implants and will be able to treat women properly and do proper explants as necessary. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
