Guest guest
Funny how parallel all our lives are. I am blessed to have a dh who easily contributes his 50% to the household and child-rearing. Lately I have been hearing about how so many women are married to men who don't pick up the slack. It is so shocking to me because my dad did everything. He got up with us, fed us, took us to school, etc. Nada was a sahm. Yet all my memories are of my dad raising us. I thought that's how all families worked. Actually nada did one thing religiously - clean. Our house was so sterile you could perform surgery in the kitchen. We weren't even allowed to sit on most of the furniture because we were " dirty " . > > Omg- these posts about going the theme park and then leaving b/c nada is > sick. That is her role in life. Always a little sick, tired, ill. Leave > your mother alone- I am HUMAN I have to go home b/c I am sick you creeps. > It is so twisted. I remember several occassions. One was a family vacation > and we were finally having this great brunch that my brother's and I begged > to go to (we rarely were let loose in a situation with tempting good food). > So as soon as we dug into maybe one bite or so- she became so " ill " she had > to go to the bathroom. Then my dad had to help her. Then we had to pack > and leave vacation early b/c she was so super sick. She just didn't know > what was wrong. The weird part is once we were on the road back home, and > there was no threat of my dad taking us to the beach and leaving her alone- > we didn't have to stop at a bathroom once. On a five hour drive. Once we > got home she made her favorite popcorn and got some other treats and ran up > to her room to watch her " shows " - the soaps she taped and obviously missed > while we were on the family vacation. I was like what? I was 10 and I knew > better. > > To this day she always has something to get attention- I have to go to the > bathroom. This is at any key moment where anyone is a.) having fun or b.) > not listening to her diarhea of the mouth. To the point where I was like um > maybe you need that pill they show on tv. And then I got the " I am HUMAN " > I just have to go to the bathroom a lot. > > I remember telling a school counselor when I was in 5th grade- I wish my mom > made me milk and cookies and greeted me when I got home. I wish she asked > how my day was and helped me sort out my plan to do homework. They were > like oh your mommy works? Honey who greets you? I was like- oh no she > doesn't work she is usually just laying on the couch when I get home and I > have to go outside and play or go to my room for two hours and do homework > even if I don't have any. This was around the time I started getting mad > about this and told them often times beer bottles were lying about. > > Love ya Mom! > > >
