Rogene,

I have Saline implants and my joints ache and my left ankle stays swollen and red. It is so painful also in my hands. I only had these implants one year and 3 months. I never had any problems before implants. I am only 37, so I think that is a bit to young to get painful joints. I am curious when I get these implants out if the joint pain will stop. I think it is the cause for the pain myself.

Rogene,

I totally agree with you and appreciate your letter. It's getting closer for me to ex plant and I am getting all hyped up. I need the encouragement that is for sure. I am scared to death right now. I hear Dr. Kolb is excellent with the ex plant, I hope everyone has given me good advice? I have not meet the Dr. yet, I seen her picture and hope I will like her when I get to Atlanta, GA. I know she is in a hurry a lot and that is scary to me. She deals with a lot of women that are sick she told me on the phone. I am putting my trust in a bunch of strangers on that issue. I think its so crazy that the support sites seem to care and understand more than most family members. I have not even told my MOM about this yet and surgery is next week for me. I think I am going to go there and keep it a secret from everyone??? I appreciate everyone that has ever given me advice. I am new at learning this and I hope someday I will be able to help other women in my shoes. I don't think I would have ever have learned the truth behind my sickness if it weren't for the support groups. I think it is wonderful that all of you women stick together and strong to help women everyday with implants. I know its hard checking e-mails and writing back being sick, I do it and I know it is not easy. Yet, I think it is a way of healing by helping one another through this. I appreciate your wisdom and courage Rogene.... You are a survivor and you are strong. I can't wait to be more like you someday when this is behind me in my future.

Hugs,

Donna

Sherry,

I also have had no relief from Cipro, antibiotics, penicilin period. I also bought this cream the Dr. prescribed it was $110.00. It did nothing to help me. I have this like skin hardening stuff too, nothing helps it. Sherry I get my implants out in 9 days I will let you know if it goes away after removal of implants. I also was looking at pictures on this site saline support. Click on the pictures there is a lady with the same rashes you are describing maybe. Sherry Please check out that picture of her. I wish if I told you that my rash went away after I ex plant that you would promise me you will get those implants out of your body ASAP, find a way Sherry to act soon. I hope that you find a way to get the funds to get them removed before 2007 Sherry, for the love of God if its a mysterious rash, illness, you have, it's your implants. Good Luck Sherry and Best Wishes.

Sherry,

I have Medicare with a secondary . . . I've had no

problem getting virtually full coverage on all my

recent medical expenses. . .

If you can get a doctor to say your surgery is

medically necessary and find a doctor who accepts

Medicare (most non-plastic surgeons do), you shouldn't

have a problem.

I am concerned if there isn't something going on with

the joints other than silicone though. To my

knowledge, nobody has found silicone in inflammed

joints - I don't know of anyone who has looked though.

My theory is that the body becomes so worn down in

fighting the implants that it starts attacking itself.

Arthritis in only one of the illnesses that result.

It's very hard to find a knowledgable rheumatologist.

Most of them can only speak the " party " line . . .

i.e. breast implants are safe!

Hugs,

Rogene

Patty,

I knew it had to do with the implant, prior to getting them I had very nice skin. I am Thankful that I am compulsive about myself or I would have let this go on maybe until it's to late. I can only pray that I get these out on time to get well. I hope so for my sake and my children, I don't know how much more of this my poor kids can take. I wish I had never gotten these implants that was the worse mistake I ever made. I have done some dumb thing but this is the dumb. I can't believe that I let this go over a year and believed the Dr's telling me Saline is safe. The gut feeling said, Implants!!! I don't know if I can trust a doctor again???? Sometime I think after I get these implants removed, I may go to a homeopathy Doctor who is real close in my area. I can't trust anyone else. I went to this homeopathy Doctor and he was very puzzled with me when I got in there. He said, Donna you have 47 organs affected by this, liver is number one organ, if I can fix your liver you will get better. Then he said, you are allergic to Mold, then he said, your nerves are affected by this. To me he made more sense to me than all the other medical doctors I went to begging for help, saying am I gonna die. They said, you are psycho see a physiatrist. I just can't believe. I think I will go back to the homeopathy Doctor and Dr. Kolb and fire the rest.

Donna,

We've seen so many implanted women with similar

problems, who got better after being explanted, that

it would be hard for us to think it's anything other

than your implants.

Unfortunately, there are no tests that can PROVE

conclusively that implants are at fault. . . If there

were, the sale of them MIGHT be stopped!

I say MIGHT, because, when one considers how long

cigarettes have been on the market, even though the

problems associated with them are well known . . . One

has to wonder??

Your proof will be after you get your implants out

properly - and you give yourself some time to detox.

I'm confident that you will get much better! But it

will take time and dedication to healing. It's not

always easy, but it's worth it! . . .

I hope you can show your doctors that THEY are the

ones with the mental problems!

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

My rash appeared in 1995, one year after I suffered a severe case of infectious mononucleosis. In 1995, I was defrauded of a large amount of wealth and of my large company and was left homeless. I considered stress to be a likely cause of the rash.

It persisted for the past decade. Four dermatologists have exhausted ideas in their investigation of the etiology.

My rash is all over my body, most pronounced on my back, arm and legs and, recently, scalp. I am scarred from ten years of scratching. It just looks like inflamed scabs that I have scratched at until they bleed and it's severe and extensive. Nothing makes it better and no medication alleviates the itching. I cover myself constantly in lotions, ointments, prescription topical creams, calamine lotion, even Mineral ice/ tincture of colorless iodine/ witch hazel/ Vick's vapor rub and every other possible temporary remedy. I have lost a fortune in needlessly discarded bedding, clothing, towels, perfumes, detergents and every other possible cause of the rash.

I am almost finished with a course of 14 days of Cipro and 30 days of Diflucan as recommended on explantation.com for the mold/ yeast/ fungus caused by the implants. I haven't incurred any significant improvement.

I have had my silicone implants since 1974.

Thank you Donna,

You bring tears to my eyes! . . . I know you will be

strong AND that you will help other women!

Dr. Kolb will give you all the time you need. . . she

is a busy woman, but I've never heard of her

neglecting her patients when they need her!

I know it's hard to tell family . . . I couldn't

myself. It was only after I was feeling much better

that I started talking about what was going on. I

guess I didn't want the family to worry about me! . .

.. That would have just been more stress! . . . And

too, unless you've been through something like this,

it's hard to understand. Most of us look fairly well,

even when we're very sick! . . .

I read one explanation that makes sick too . . . It's

said that, when someone gets sick, most people are

sympathatic . . . However, when the illness drags on

and on, and doctors don't seem to be taking care of

it, many people lose patience . . . It's like " You've

had time to be sick, so get well already! "

This is nothing for you to be ashamed of . . . Your

only " sin " was to believe what they're still telling

women! Nothing more! . . . Society grooms us to want

to look our very best, and to look at ourselves

critically. That's the world we live in! . . . In an

ideal world, we would teach people to love themselves,

and others, as God made them! . . . Can you imagine

all the misery that would prevent?

This support group is incredible! . . . We have some

of the most dedicated women I've seen anywhere! We've

had some bad times when people have come in with the

intention of causing problems . . . But, as one lurker

chimed in - The Devil himself couldn't get a toehold

in this group!

Just keep the faith Donna . . . I have no doubt that

you're going to feel like everyone I know - Getting

you implants out is going to be the best investment

you've ever made in yourself!

Hugs and prayer,

Rogene

I have heard of joint pain going away after

restricted diets as well, so it may be something

in the food that we don't eat during detox or

fasting that allows it to go away.

I was beginning to have all kinds of problems

with both my finger joints and with ankle, knee,

etc. Those went away after several years of continuous detoxing.

This sounds familiar! In fact, one of our ladies, Christene, who is also a medical professional, posted a picture of her rash in our shutterfly site. It is shocking. There are very nasty looking sores on her chest that leave scars. It sounds awful. I did not have this, but there have been a number of women on our site who have had trouble with this, as well as acne and other rashes of varying types. Christene hasn't posted in awhile it seems...Christene, are you out there? Sherry, if you want to check out the pictures of the rash, you can go to http://.shutterfly.com/action/ and type in the password: implants Her picture should be right there showing. There are a couple

of albums of pictures we've accumulated over the past year or so. I know you are definitely not alone on this one. It might be prudent to have those things cultured to see exactly what you are dealing with. Christene's results were eye-opening! Sherry and Donna, I checked back through Christene's messages to see what she had and how she found it, and here are some of her posts: Message 59350: My culture came back positive for Gram negative bacteria. The "Gram" is just a type of stain method used to identify different strains. The test results are preliminary so the actual bacteria has yet to be identified . I should know something Monday. But the fact that it's not MRSA is actually very worrisome. Gram negative is not good by any stretch of the imagination. Message 59458: It turns out that I have acinetobacter baumannii...a very rare bacteria that isusually contracted while a patient in the hospital. Oddly enough, I stoppedworking prior to this junk emerging on

my skin. Most recently there has been anincrease in reports of this bacteria among military members serving in Iraq. Hmmm....I'm wondering if I got it via mail? Not on purpose, but obviously frommail I have received from Iraq. The transmission of germs is a peculiar thing, but intriguing to someone like me. There is no way to know with certainty whereit came from, but I won't dismiss any possibilities at this point. As for the "baumannii" part, that means it's a very difficult strain tosuccessfully treat as it is highly resistant to abx.Honestly, after having this type of infection for over a year, it's a wonderthat I'm still alive.I believe I belong in the hospital on IV abx because its spread too far to beconquered with oral meds (think Sue). So here I sit at 2100 at the after hourscare waiting to be seen and hoping for an admission into the hospital to getresolution. However, I'm sure

that won't happen for me. It would make too muchsense....Yep, nothing like managed healthcare at its finest moment...T is isonly another example of how it works for the patient! What I wouldn't give tobe free of it once more! Ladies, I just thought this might give you some food for thought as to what you may be up against. Donna,

I think Rogene had this too. Also I think Kathy? Maybe they can

give you some advice about it.

Rogene used a mushroom tonic I think...I know she's shared the story

often! Maybe she will refresh our memory!

The only concern I have about it is scleroderma. Basically the

definition of it is " hard skin " . (Sclero=hard, derma=skin).

Hopefully once you get these implants out, any autoimmune process

that may be occuring will be stopped in its tracks and go into

remission. That is the goal! Keep your thoughts very positive about

that!

I wonder if the itchy rash is some kind of immune mediated rash. I do believe

my itchy

was fungus related, since I actually had a biopsy that showed fungus. I took

anti-fungals

around the same time as my explant, so I can't isolate what 'worked'.

I can say the rash has gone, and has not reappeared. I spent 5 years going out

of my

mind with itchy rashes, clawing at my skin. I too am scarred from it.

Have you had any kind of biopsy?

Donna,

I had the bumps for about a month after I got implants, and luckily

they didn't come back, but I have definitely heard from many others

who have had problems with rashes while they've had implants.

That's actually quite common, and since I didn't have the rash for a

long time, I can't attest to it going away after explant, but I'm

sure others can.

Sherry,

If the implants are causing the rash, and the implants are still in

your body, then I don't know if the rash will go away until after

you've had the implants removed.

What I had on my ankle was an egg-sized, egg-shaped

area that darkened slightly, itched a little, but

became as hard as bone. There was no soft tissue under

the area at all!

How I got the idea, I have no idea. At the time I was

drinking Kombucha mushroom tea. I cut off a piece of

the mushroom and wrapped it to my leg with plastic

wrap. I wore it for some hours and repeated it several

times, then left it alone.

It gradually got better - What was so strange is that

the area under the mushroom started growing dark,

coarse thick hair. That was 12 years ago. To this day,

more hair still grows there than on any other part of

my legs.

I went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what

it was. Finally they did a biopsy and told me it was

an internal condition - that there was nothing I could

do about it - that a lot of people had the same, but

wore long pants to cover it . . . BS!!! I doctor I

talked to on a social basis told me that it was

scleroderma . . . Nobody else would tell me what it

was. I didn't think to ask for the records.
