Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I am new to this group... am so glad I somehow discovered it. Here is my situation, in a nutshell... I am 42yrs old. I had saline breast implants put in a little over 5yrs ago. I'm not sure if they are textured or smooth. During the past yr, I've had some strange symptoms. They may have been going on longer & I just didn't pay attention to it, not sure. I am wondering if these symptoms could be caused by my implants.... -Mouth/throat always very dry -Frequent dry eyes, although I do wear contacts -Always feel warm & often, downright hot! This may sound weird but when I urinate, I can feel that the urine is hot, not just warm(??) -Slightly achy joints, especially my neck although I have been much more sedentary since Dec 05 when I started a new job which actually requires me to sit on my living room couch for hours & write. -Racing heart... I think that symptom has been present for a while, maybe even before implants... i'm really not sure?? -Forgetful, difficulty concentrating... very subtle. ***Most disturbing of all has been what I would call significant hair loss for a aprroximately 1yr. The hair loss is generalized... all over my head but I've noticed it the most in the front & top of my head (maybe b/c that is the area we see the most in the mirror.) On the top front of my head, I have an area that is noticeably thinning where I am starting to see my scalp a little. Also, the last 6mos my hair has been extremely dry, brittle. I don't wash & blow dry it everyday. My hair has always been on the thinner & dryer side but definitely not like this. I think that people & drs. are thinking I am crazy but I know these symptoms are real... especially when i see the hair in the shower... it has been a little better recently... but the dryness is awful & meanwhile... i've lost so much hair... VERY upsetting.. I am sorry this is getting long but i'm trying to give an honest appraisal & not be to quick to blame it on the implants. I've had blood work done, including hormones & thyroid which all came back normal. I am currently seeing a dermalolgist for the hair loss... she can't really give me answers. Has been injecting the thinning area w/ some type of anti-inflammatory which so far, isn't helping. My iron level did come back on the low side of normal(50) & i've been taking an iron pill. The dr. looked at me strange when i mentioned the implants possibly being the cause. I also stopped the 2 medications I was on, thinking that was the cause. I am still trying to investigate other reasons for the dry hair/dry mouth thing... but so far, perplexed. I read somewhere that those little plastic things that are in vitamin & pill bottles to keep moisture out, contain silicone. Sure enough, i checked in one of my bottles & it said... silica gel & activated carbon. Could the silicone shells of my implants be sucking moisture out of me?... the thought of this is freaky! One other quick question... Shouldn't I have started having some of these symptoms sooner after implant insertion... or as the implants get older, do they start breaking down more & even more prone to causing these symptoms. Thanks for reading my story & again, sorry so long! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.... Sasha
Guest guest
Hi, Sasha.... I am in NJ, too. Perhaps we could travel by car together for explanation, share costs and save some $? I am 56, implanted once in 1973 or 1974 and considering explantation. I will need additional time to raise the funds. Best success! Perhaps you, Sis and I could have a get-together.
