Guest guest
Hi Margie, I read the mails from hepcwarriors, but rarely respond. I guess I wait to see if anyone will answer you. I decided to answer your question to the best of my knowledge, but it is limited. All I know is this: I have a brother with a high white blood count who has hep c and has gone through the treatments. He lives in N.Y. and the drs. there are wonderful, from what I hear. I am out west, myself, and the drs. are limited and leaving the state. We only have one infectious disease dr. in this whole small city to treat hep c patients, and the other drs. will not touch it. I know -I called and called other drs. to find out. But, I am getting off the subject. My brother's white blood cell count is high. He responded to the treatment , and all was good for a time, but now it is back and the drs. are playing the waiting game now for some reason to put him back on treatment of a different sort. His wbc is again high, after it of course, was lowered for a time after the first and only treatment he has been on so far. It is a normal thing in progressed hep c cases, as far as I know --------- but I remind you, I am not a medical specialist. I am simply another hep c patient, who is lucky in that my viral load is very low and not ready for treatment. My white cell count is normal. I hope it stays that way. I have the opposite problem, where my red blood cell count is high (but that is another story, another illness). I have many friends who have high white blood cell counts who are either going through treatment, or needing to go on treatment. I think once the treatment kicks in and (works, hopefully), the wbc should go down. White blood cells accumulate to help fight off a foreign invasion in the body - so it is a normal response to the disease. It is working overtime to fight off the invading virus. Please don't worry. I will pray for your son. It will be ok. You will see. So many are going through this now, it amazes me. There are millions of hep c patients around the world. I would be more concerened if the wbc was not trying to at least fight it off, (I think). Even with a common cold, I think the wbc would be higher than usual a little bit -------- to fight off infection. I hope I helped you. I'm sorry I don't have more information. I wish I did. God Bless You and Your Beautiful Son. dj http://www.one.org
Guest guest
Dear Dorothy, Thank you so much for your kind answer. Yes, I am very worried about my Son .He went thru two treatments, and each and every time he seemed to get worse. He suffered so manyside- effects from the treatments (Interferon and Ribitron)...he says, he felt much better before the treatments, and is sorry he did it. But, like they say, "who knew"?I am convincing him to try the natural way...you know...alternative meds. He is taking Milk Thistle, which issupposed to be very good for the liver. He is in Tampa, Florida and I am in New Jersey. But will be moving to Tampa in the future (must sell house etc). Thanks again for your kindness Dorothy, there doesn't seem to be much of that anymore. I really appreciateyour prayers, and I will surely pray for you and your brother.God Bless us all, and please God, help the researchers to find a cure. Sincerely, Margie. Guest guest
Margie, Welcome to . . . I'm concerned! . . . Are you still real sick? The way you describe your surgery sounds as though your surgeon didn't remove your implants properly! . . . Did you see your implants? . . . Were they clear, yellow or black? Did he remove some tissue with your implants? Do you have your post-op report? . . . Does it state that he did a complete capsulectomy? If you're still sick, you may need further surgery to remove the capsule. It could be the source of contamination that may keep you sick! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
