Yes, the symptoms come and go. I remember before my explant I would

start feeling good and that would play alot of games with my mind -

and I'd start having doubts, but then the symptoms would come back,

and a few new ones would start that I didn't have before, and that

would confirm it. I went from being normal one day to being sick

within a few weeks of getting implants, with symptoms that I never

had before, so I knew my body wasn't tolerating them. My Plastic

Surgeon said " it's not the implants " , but I knew it was. One of the

veins in my finger swelled up and burst, and I had bruising under

the skin, and that's when my joints started swelling up.

Donna, I didn't need a lift. I had them in for 6 months, went from an

A or B cup depending on the bra, to a C cup. I was bigger than I

wanted to be, and honestly the whole thing felt like such a

nightmare. I remember waking up with these huge boobs and the

dressing was so tight it was horrible, and I was in so much pain. I

kept throwing up and they wouldn't let me leave the hospital. Then

about a week later I started getting sick and I was like " what have I

done? " I had this rash all over my chest, my armpits were like deep

wells and the razor couldn't reach them. My lymph nodes in my arms

and legs were extremely sore, and I was running a low grade fever. At

four months the joint swelling got really bad, I had terrible

headaches, my blood pressure was suddenly very high, my fingers and

toes were numb, my bones ached. I went to see my plastic surgeon and

I was crying in his office, asking him if he would take them out,

telling him what my symptoms were. Honestly he was very comforting,

and said he would take them out if that's what I wanted, but he didn't

admit that it was the implants. For some odd reason he admitted that

there was someone else in his office that very same day, with the same

complaints, crying, begging him to remove the implants. She had hers

in one year at the time and had been sick for about 6 months, I

think. I was going to school full-time, and I remember one of my

teachers telling us about Business Ethics, and I couldn't help

thinking about how the companies that manufacture implants have

absolutely no business ethics but yet they are still in business (and

honestly I think some of the plastic surgeons are in denial, because

this one's wife was a breast cancer survivor and she had implants).

His wife tried to talk me out of having them removed, and I didn't

want him removing them because they wouldn't admit they were making me

sick, and I didn't trust that he would take all the capsule out, nor

that he would perform the en bloc procedure. He said the surgery

would take an hour, and Dr. Feng said it would take two or three

hours, so I went with my instincts and even though it cost me alot

more to go with Dr. Feng, I wanted someone who knew they made me sick,

and who I could count on to remove the capsules. Plus I wanted

someone experienced in doing explants without replacements, and she

has done thousands. My results are proof of that, because she really

did an excellent job. I had my explant in November, and the pain was

so much less than getting implants. I was in some pain the first day,

but after that the pain was minimal, and the drains really helped with

that I'm sure because there was no swelling. I had alot of fatigue,

though, and I'm sure that's because my body had been through alot in

six short months. I look almost like I did before implants, and my

scars are well placed.

I look back at pictures of me during those six months with implants,

and I had such a haunted look in my eyes. I remember my skin looked a

funny color, too, kind of grayish. I looked like the walking dead,

and I guess that's how I felt, too. Since it was just one year ago

since I got them, I'm really reliving it alot lately. I know in time

I'll get past this, and I know you will, too. Just have faith and

patience, and when your implants are out, look in the mirror as I do

now and say " ahhhh, THAT'S the real me!! "

Sis,

Your PS sounds like the one I was dealing with. I have to say PS are so nice to you until they get there money. After surgery God forbid you have a complication they wont tell you the truth. I think that should be illegal for PS to do this. Isn't that like attempted murder, to let your patients die a slow horrible death? I think PS do this so they don't have to give your money back or work for the money.

Donna,

Yes, I was blessed to have posted on the pro-implant site complaining

about my symptoms (and many of the women were shooting me down for

doing it), however one person named Jen posted her e-mail address, and

told me about this site. I'm thankful to Jen for that.

I had unders, 325cc's. Dr. Feng had a tough time removing them, and

they were just too big for my tiny frame. I told the doctor I wanted

to be a B cup, and he kept shoving these huge things in my sports

bra. Anyway, they're gone now, thank God. I think I've heard people

say that even after less than two years, you still have a good chance

at " bouncing back " so to speak, I was worried that I'd be really

stretched out because I'm thin on top, but I was surprised to see that

there wasn't much of a sag. Actually what happened was that my

armpits went back to being normal, so I think alot of the skin that

stretched was actually pulled in from my armpits. I had tunnels for

armpits when I had implants, and after I had them removed, they were

back to normal.

Donna,

How you will look after removing your implants has a

lot to do with how elastic your skin is. As one ages,

they lose skin elasticity and it becomes harder to get

ones shape back after losing weight, etc.

Yes, I soon realized after getting implants that once I started having

problems, I was totally alone (until I found this site). My Plastic

Surgeon encouraged me to get them and acted as if my body was abnormal

and he was going to fix it. My husband said even a bad boob job would

look better than what I currently had, and even though he swears that

he didn't care either way if I got them, every time I said " I don't

know about this " he treated me like I was being neurotic. I was

friends with someone who had implants, and her 18 year old daughter

had implants, and she was supportive of my getting them, but as soon

as I had problems and told her about what others were saying on Saline

Support, she said " boy, you really buy into this crap, don't you? "

After I got implants and started getting sick, my plastic surgeon was

nowhere to be found, my husband checked out emotionally, and I

realized that I had a false friend. Obviously I went through with it

anyway, and I allowed others opinions to steer me in a direction that

I knew was wrong for me. I stand my ground on alot of issues, but for

some reason got swept away with this.

My sisters and one of my friends stood by me, though, as did my

psychologist (who initially didn't want to believe that the medical

community and the FDA were capable of allowing this - but once I told

her there are doctors who specialize in removing them because people

are getting sick from them, she came around), my gynecologist stood by

me, too (and he's since retired). Finding this site gave me the proof

I needed, and I didn't need much because I knew my body.

That's funny about your husband.....I bet he didn't know what a real boob felt like...hahahah I told my 28 year old daughter today, that all her friends with implants maynot be having problems now,but I fear they too will get sick in years to come...she said she'd never get them (she has nice breast as did I when I was 28) after seeing all that I have been thru, she was thinking of botox for her eye wrinkles and after her spine surgery decided she has a fear of needles..hahahah

Yes, my husband and the friend came around. My husband refused to

believe the implants were making me sick, even though his first wife

had silicone and got sick from them (she got sick after they split

up, after hers ruptured). Interesting that he's been married to two

implanted women, and yet he really isn't what one would call a " boob

man " . As for the friend, she also came around, and I think her

issues were due to fear. She's had the same set of implants for 20

years (saline, so they're probably good and ripe with mold right

now), but I think her fear was for her daughter. She admitted that

after her daughter got implants, she suddenly developed a

sensitivity to anything with orange dye in it.

me again!

Hi Sis

I was wondering if you were seeing any improvements as a result of

your test results and the weather. I am still feeling so much

better, though I wish I were a better log keeper because I have some

inflammation back, and I have a few guesses why, but not sure. When

you talk about your skin, I agree. My mother was visiting this

weekend - the first time I have seen her since explant, and she

commented how nice my skin looked (she asked if I had Botox or

something - pffft!!!). We took some pictures, and I just couldn't

believe how much healthier I looked - as compared to how I looked

over the last six years. I think I will post some pictures - during

explant and now. I also had a haunted, sad look on my face, it

really was pale and I looked only half as bad as I felt!! I did

finally tell my mother that I had implants and that they were making

me sick, and now they are removed, and that's why I am getting

better. What FREEDOM - I hid them from her for the last 9 1/2

years! (slouching and baggy shirts).

I hope and pray you are noticing some improvement Sis!

Cherie,

I'm so glad you're doing so much better! . . . Even if

you're having a few down days! . . .

The way you look is great confirmation. . . And to

think that we get implants so we can " look " better! .

.. . It's so sad!

Telling your mother really is freeing! . . . You most

likely had a wall between the two of you that neither

of you understood! . . . It may take a little time to

get used to your new relationship, but you'll both be

the happier for it!

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

Sis,

This is great that you might help another person sick from implants. It is like God put us in this spot to be educated to help other women. It is unfortunate we all have to go thru this but I guess by going thru the sickness from implants. We get smart enough to help other women out, I know that if I had not found the support sites, I would have died living like this for much longer. I am glad I get explant in 7 more days and can't wait. I am scared but I get a little more educated by the day. Keep up the great work Sis and every lady who went thru this implant nightmare, thanks for the support don't know where I would be with out it.

Sincerely,

Donna

Hi Cherie,

Thanks for asking!! The weather has definitely helped the

situation, I believe, because I have noticed the joint swelling has

improved. I went about two months feeling some improvement, and

then I had a bad spell that lasted a week or two, and then have had

some good days again. I went to the holistic doctor and based on my

test results, she recommends that I take Glutamin, L-Cysteine,

Lipoic Acid (all for detoxing), Cod Liver Oil (a specific brand that

doesn't have mercury), Pribiotics, and she wants me to take M-B12,

either in shots or under my tongue. She also wants me to take B6,

or a good B-Complex. I told her I bought Coconut Oil and have been

using that daily, and she agreed because it's a good immune system

stimulator. She said the Cod Liver Oil would help to release the

toxins from my joints. I tested negative for immune illnesses, and

while I know that's common among implanted women, I'm glad I didn't

get a diagnosis and those tests are " normal " . Oh, I almost forgot,

because of the yeast being high, she wants me to take Nystatin

500,000, 3 times a day, for two months. Does anyone here have any

experience with Nystatin? I think it's relatively harmless but I

remember Rogene saying something about the liver. I know I

requested Nystatin suppositories from my Gyno a number of years ago,

because the Diflucan really messes up my hormones, and I suffered no

ill effects.

Here's another intesting story. Tonight I went to see my counselor,

and she asked permission to give my number to another patient of

hers who is ill with Lupus and I think Colitis. She said the

patient has implants and has had them for a long time. I told her

absolutely!! She said she'd only give me the patient's first name,

if the woman was interested in speaking with me. It's funny because

all along I had the feeling that eventually my counselor would have

other patients who were ill from implants but either weren't making

the connection, or were concerned about it and looking for help.

Sis,

Your doctor sounds like she's right on target in

treating you!

Nystatin is good . . . but not for longterm use. It

can cause liver damage. It may give you a jump start

on treating systemic yeast problems . . . But better

yet is Garden of Life's Fungal Defense (one bottle)

followed by Primal Defense indefinitely (depends on

how faithful you are about eating right). These are

probiotics. Both of these contain a host of soil

organisms that would normally be found in the body as

a result of eating foods fresh from soil that hasn't

been contaminated by chemicals or overuse.

Even then, these should be started slowly . .. one

capsule the first day, two the second, three the

third, etc. until you're taking four capsules in the

morning and four at bedtime.

Diflucan may have caused you problems because you

started with a full dose . . . It's likely that you

experienced was a herx.

Here's to better health and days to come!

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

Donna,

I'm glad the explant surgery is coming up soon, because you will be

so relieved when the implants are out - at least I know I was.

Before my explant, I kept apologizing to my body for putting it

through so much. It's like for the first time in my life I felt

like my mind and my body were two different things, and my mind made

a decision that ended up not being so good for my body. I was

scared, too, but I knew that no other choice was acceptable, the

implants had to go and I did not doubt that decision.

You're right, for whatever reason, we were chosen to help others -

even if it means we have to suffer, we can ease the suffering of

others who are scared and alone with implant illness.

Hi Cherie,

I'm going to start very slowly, introducing one new thing per week

to see how it goes. The cod liver oil is probably the first on my

list. I actually do have oregano capsules in the cabinet that I

haven't tried yet, so that's a good suggestion. I wonder if

Turmeric was the other thing that was suggested to you as an

alternative to Nystatin? I'll try some type of probiotic as well, I

have Garden of Life Primal Defense in the cabinet, too, so I might

start slowly on that. I purchased some coconut oil about a month

ago and have been taking about a teaspoon per day, so that could be

strengthening my immune system somewhat. I haven't noticed any

adverse effects from that yet. I'm not going to rush into the

Nystatin just yet, although in the past I did use it for yeast

infections and it didn't seem to cause any ill effects. However,

that was before all of this took place.

Sis

you may have mentioned, but did you have your thyroid levels

checked? I think that when Dr. Leu detected that and put me on

Westhroid, that made a big difference for me - after about four

weeks of taking it. For the yeast, it was a combination of oregano

and another pill - I think it began with a B. I hope you find what

really works for you soon. What does the coconut oil do? I have

been experiencing a relapse of pain and read about potatoes being a

nightshade vegetable which contains solanine, which can cause

inflammation in some people. I had a couple meals last weekend with

potatoes, and decided to lay off and see what happens. When I told

my husband about potatoes now, he just said " what next!! "

I would like to post some pictures to the photos section, but I

can't seem to figure out how to do it. I should ask Patty about

that one.

It really is wonderful to see you giving support to so many girls

here. Keep up the good work!!

Cherie,

I had my thyroid checked and fell within the normal range, although

I'd like to compare it against tests I had for my thyroid before

implants and see if it's any different. The reference range was

between .40 and 5.50, and I was at 3.09. The doctor said she likes

to see people's range more in the area of 2.0, and in the future we

might consider Armor Thyroid if I don't notice any changes after

starting the supplements.

Thanks for the compliment, too. It helps me to help people going

through what we did. You're not so bad yourself at this!!!

I recently read that they now consider a thyroid of 3.0 as clinically

low, and anything above 2.0 as suspicious.

My doctors have told me that women should try to keep their thyroid

between 1 and 2. Mine is now at .5 and I feel better than I have in

quite a while.

It is in no way meaningful to assess the thyroid based upon just one value. In fact, the PROPER way is to perform a complete thyroid panel, something very few non-endocrinologists do and, then, to interpret it as follows.... One wants to see all the values be in the midline of normal limits. In other words, if one value is at the high end of normal and another at the low end of normal, it's best to pay close attention to that thyroid and view it as abnormal. Regrettably, most physicians will call that normal because the values are within normal range.

I do not believe that ANY physician evaluates thyroid status based upon one value.
