Guest guest
Jackie, I honestly don't know if anyone has kept a tally of how many women have come to this site, and what types of ailments we've all suffered from. I think the person who would know that would be Patty, or perhaps Rogene, but I'm not certain that either has kept a headcount of any sort. I can say that I've been coming here for about 6 or 7 months, and am stunned at how many women have posted their stories, and so many of us have the same exact symptoms, that started either shortly after getting implants, or for some years later. I'd love to be able to help in any way I can - I don't have statistics, I just have my own experiences and the experiences of others to go by. There are hundreds and hundreds of websites with different facts and figures. It is overwhelming. > > I even tried to email The American Society of Aesthetic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, but they have not responded. It could be that they possibly did not appreciate the question I posed to them. I asked them why the numbers on both of their websites for the year 2003 Teens that received breast augmentations under the age of 18 were drastically different. The American Society of Aesthetic Surgery numbers state- 11,326 , while the American Society of Plastic Surgeons number state- 3,841.What could be the reason behind this dramatic difference? > > Thank you so much for your time! > A overwhelmed, confused college student > > ~Jacquelyn > > > > --------------------------------- > New Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Jacquelyn, Welcome to Saline Support . . . It's wonderful to be able to welcome a woman here who isn't needing information about what's going on with her body since getting implants, getting implants out, or recovering after having implants! . . . Thanks so much for your interest! . . . I hope you will inform hundreds, if not thousands, of young women about the perils of breast implants. Those who profit off breast implants have vast sums of money to spend on public relations, while women sick from implants seldom have anything left after being sick! . . . The name of the game is money for plastic surgeons and implant manufacturer's . . . As long as they can line their pockets, they'll do whatever it takes to convince women (and themselves) that breast implants are safe. The fact is they're not. I'm particularly concerned that young women are getting implants before they have their children. I started a group for the families of children injured by silicone implants ('s SiliconeKids) . . . If you think it's hard finding doctors who understand what implants, do to women, you should see how difficult it is to make the connection to the children's health issues! . . . The guilt/horror/shame the mothers experience is beyond words! Yet, the public is being told that implants will not harm unborn children, and that nursing children is safe! . .. . None of it makes any sense - except the fact that a lot of money is being made by those who carry out this crime! Good luck with your paper! . . . Please let us know what we can do to help! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
