Guest guest Posted June 2, 2006 Report Share Posted June 2, 2006 Other than the marketing efforts of the guy who patented testicular implants and marketed them as being important to the self esteem of neutered dogs,. what this is more about actually is corruption within the dog show world. Dog shows for Conformation are about producing the best specimen - meaning a sample of a particular breed that best approximates the standard as defined by the American Kennel club. This is about breeding with the goal of producing the best possible match to the defined standard. When you watch a dog show and see the judge direct the handler to walk or run with the dog, the judge is watching the dog's movement. The dog's movement can only be superb if the dog is structurally sound. Because this type of show is about breeders using their skills to approach perfection, any dog who has been neutered or spayed is ineligible from competing since Conformation is about reproduction. Now, having said that, what implanted testes are about is that there are those who cheat and show their males even after they have been neutered - and they achieve this by having them implanted. Along the same lines, cheaters interrupt the show circuit and have poor dental bites corrected with braces (there are veterinary orthodontists). Sherry Re: Enjoy....... I see it as an extension of little girls who having standing manicure appointments every week when they are just five years old - very common in my area..... little kids worrying about wearing the most popular jeans and Crocs. Our society is about image and stuff and not about character or integrity. There are people living on the streets, starving children, elderly without access to health care and yet Appearance drives our economy. Sherry Re: Enjoy.......
